The ZOHD Drift (the white older version/Breeze newer version) is a good plane for beginners, especially if you get the one has the AIO camera/vtx and the Kopilot with return to home (although the Kopilot has a little bit of a learning curve to get setup correctly) For a new flier it is not overly fast (although if it is your first plane it will feel fast), It is very forgiving in the air as long as you are going slow super easy to build and you get good flight times. A couple of issues, it is not the most durable, but in most cases crashes can be repaired easily (maybe not pretty), if you go too fast you can end up in a spin which for most people results in a crash.
    PROS:
-It's a pusher, so the prop and motor/motor mount don't typically break on impact
-It's pretty stable in calm error
-It's easy to launch provided you have your CG correct
-It's an engineered solution if get it with the Kopilot, GPS, and AIO camera (adds about $40 USD for all three), that gets you a FPV feed and return to home/gps rescue without having to solder anything
-There's enough room to add in a small flight controller like a Matek F411 WTE, and BN 220 or BN 180 GPS if you want to go the INAV route later (which I would not do first if this is your first plane)
    -There are 3d parts available
-This is great plane for 2s DIY 18650 battery packs (easily get 30 mins)
-On 2s its is almost silent 100 feet up a 60% throttle or less (a little louder with that smaller prop turner faster)
-Glides forever, great for landing because the stall speed is low, just make sure you have enough room.
-No rudder (die hards will object because I listed this as positive), but for a new person, if you don't have someone teaching, the rudder can cause you to crash because it is the same stick as the throttle, so you try and use rudder and aileron to turn, and you lower your throttle to zero, you're probably going to crash.
-The plane can be broken back down to fit in the box it ships with
    CONS:
-It is CG sensitive, too nose heavy and it will dive right into the ground on launch too tail heavy, at best it will bobble up and down., at worst you'll crash
-It can stall if you get going too fast because the wings flex
-It is not the most durable in a crash (the nose where the canopy sits and the area with the spar goes through are breaking points
-The ESC needs to be calibrated for the best performance (if you don't you can end up losing a lot of throttle range (especially on 2s)
-If you fly 3s with 5 inch prop you will burn up the motor (the ESC should be fine, but the motor will burn up)
-If you only want to fly Line of Sight (LOS) and don't want fly with a flight controller, then this plane is probably what you're looking for, if you are new, because it is not made to take a lot of crashes like true trainer
-If you go the FPV, Kopilot and GPS route, plan on watching youtube videos on how to setup the Kopilot, (RC Video Reviews has some good tutorials on this)
    Recommendation:
If this is going to be your first plane or your first FPV plane, get the white version (it's about $10 USD cheaper), get the full FPV version with the Kopilot Lite and GPS. (It can give the newbie peace of mind that it if it gets out of sight, you can flip a switch to get to come back and loiter overhead.
Double check your prop, and make sure it is on correctly, pusher style (prop in the back) or tractor (prop in the front), the numbers printed on the prop always face forward.

I have not watched that channel in awhile. They tend to break most items simply due to not doing their research prior to a review. This is probably due to having a young family, which takes most of their attention.

Porpoising is almost always caused by a tail heavy center of gravity.

great video. I want a Digital long Range FPV plane with walksnail. I got most parts except the plane itself. For a beginner would you recommend the Z-84 Flying wing or this one for a beginner?

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  2 місяці тому +2

For a plane with an FPV unit, you’d need something larger than this ZOHD if you are new to FPV flying.

Very easy to loose it's orientation if flying line by sight but as a small fpv plane It's OK. I give it 4 out of 10
