I've been looking for the difference between livet and fiddich online for a few days and finally found someone with a more precise description about their difference. Thank you.
Cool! … glad the review was able to help! …. Don’t think you can go wrong with either. If you get a chance to try either of them I’d be curious what you think … Cheers!
@@happyhourwhiskey I've got the glenlivet 12 double cast and was a bit disappointed (even tho i love the 15 and 18 yrs) and that's why i was so curious about the fiddich 12. Since i like sherry I'm inclined to try it. I found someone selling drams in my country (Brazil) so I'll get a dram to try it before buying a bottle. Your video comparisons have been very helpful (macallan vs glendronach was very good too). Thanks mate!
Yes, it is a lot less complex than the 15 and 18. The fiddich 12 doesn’t have a ton of sherry influence but a bit … Good idea on the dram … hope you enjoy and thanks for the kind words … cheers!
Thanks for the review. I started drinking both Glenlivet 12 and Glenfiddich 12 more than 40 years ago when I attended a lot of parties and weddings. They're both mild and pleasant tasting bottles that I have no problem enjoying. The good news is that both are budget friendly compared to other competitors in the Scotch field where other brands are almost double the price.
Ive been sipping the glenfiddich 12 lately. I pick up on sherry a lot more than you do. it comes off a little perfumey, which I dont love, but it doesnt turn me away either. caramel, fruit medley, and i pick up on oak. not my favorite speyside, but enjoyable.
I have to agree with you on this one. The Glenfiddich wins by a small margin for me and is a nice introduction to find those tasting notes. Here Australia you can find them for about $66
Hey Dan .... I think you are right, there is a little more going on in the Fiddich and it is a great way to branch out into other Sherry & Bourbon aged Scotches. Cheers!
40 years ago these were the top of the line in bars in the midwest.. I have never tried either one. If they are 40% I never will.. Great idea for a head to head.. Cheers
Agree with the winner of this one. It is close but there is that little bit more apple crunch. Have you compared the 15s? Both are quite a step up but in my view the Glenlivet 15 is the big winner. Cheers!
Hey Jeff! .... I have not yet, in fact I think somehow they are the only 2 of each range that I have not had yet .... I have been holding off for that exact reason, thought they would be a great head to head ..... on the list, which seems to get longer everyday :-) ... Cheers!
For me its the Glenfiddich but just barely. Its interesting that you pick up on the bourbon notes, I got just a hair of that, but still love it. If you get a chance, please do a tasting of the Aberfeldy 12, its the most overwhelmingly bourbon flavored scotch I have ever had. Really just curious to see if anyone else tastes that or just me.
All things being equal I like Mac a little better, but at about twice the price as the “glens” I would buy a bottle of both “glens” for about the same price … lol … cheers!
Hey Julio …. I got them at binny’s here in Chicagoland …. The video was from Jan of 2022 though …. Everything has gone up in price several times since …. I think these are both north of $40 now here …. Not good!
Hey Bill … you are probably right … Sidd commented further down in the comments saying the same thing … makes sense as it doesn’t say “new European oak” so I guess they originally held something else. As I mentioned below I did not get the slightest sherry note from it …. I do like it though. Thanks for the comment .. cheers!
wow … that sucks Scott… sorry to hear that. I thought Chicago/IL was bad but it amazes me hearing from folks all over the place just how much prices fluctuate…. I have turned to buying almost everything lately from overseas …. Even after adding high shipping costs I come out ahead … hang in there. Cheers!

Solid video! You're 100% right that doing an A/B tasting is a way to really pick out different notes by being able to compare and contrast.
Absolutely! ... it's my favorite hobby 🥴 Cheers!

Great video, just got my 2 bottles of the Glen.
Will taste & compare, thanks
Thanks! …. I hope you enjoy…. Cheers!
Glenlivet 12 was my first scotch and I really like it. Getting some Glenfeddich 12 today just to see how it is.
I hope you enjoy it Ross! …. I think you will .. cheers!

Great idea for a head to head..

I enjoy them for their price … not very challenging but sometimes I’m perfectly ok with that … cheers Jeff!
I love the glenfiddich 12 it's a consistent dram and full of fresh flavour
Agree! … can’t go wrong .. cheers Matt!

I have not tried the aberfeldy yet…. Add it too the list … lol .. cheers!
I wish you were still doing reviews. Your channel is terrific.
The correct answer in Glenlivet. Spiced pears and custard. Glenfiddich is just kids apple juice
Lol … I wish I had fiddich 12 when I was a kid instead of apple juice! … lol .. cheers Craig!
Good whiskies to get into Single Malts and easy uncomplicated sippers. Enjoy.
Yes they are!
If you had to pick between these 2 and Mcallan?
All things being equal I like Mac a little better, but at about twice the price as the “glens” I would buy a bottle of both “glens” for about the same price … lol … cheers!
32.99 is a great price for 1000ml
I got 1 x 12 Glenlivet recently from Abu Dhabi Duty free for 72 US dollars
These are 750ml ….. still, a fair price in my opinion. Cheers Kunal!
Where did you get these for $32.99 a bottle?
Hey Julio …. I got them at binny’s here in Chicagoland …. The video was from Jan of 2022 though …. Everything has gone up in price several times since …. I think these are both north of $40 now here …. Not good!
@@happyhourwhiskey Thank you for your reply. I live in Florida, and both of these are upwards of $50 in my area. I have Subscribed to you.👍
A great tasting "go to" scotch single malts.
Cheers Kevin! .... easy and enjoyable.
I thought european oak are sherry casks?

European Oak can be: Calvados, Armagnac, Port, Madeira, Brandy, Rum……etc etc
Glenlivet 👍🏻
Ha ha .. Thanks Gavish!
Jeez, these two are nearly twice that price in my state. Good old liquor taxes.

WHERES YOUR GLENDRONACH 21 REVIEW
Lol … looking for someone to donate a bottle … lol … I do have a mini but have not had a full bottle in a while.
Glenfiddich for me.
Toss up … but I lean that way too Danny … cheers!
Splash of water on the whisky will bring out the aroma
I almost almost always add a few drops to my whisky … although, to be honest, a lot of 40% abv bottles it doesn’t so much for me anymore … lol
