  • Do you wish you could enjoy walking again but nagging hip pain is holding you back? 😣
There are three strategies to help support your hip, reduce your pain and decrease muscle tightness with hip arthritis. If you are looking to increase walking distance, speed and/or comfort- follow Dr. Alyssa Kuhn, physical therapist and osteoarthritis specialist through this video to learn what you can do to start.
With hip osteoarthritis, you are more prone to muscle tightness and stiffness, especially when walking. This can lead to more pain and stiffness afterwards, making you feel like you are paying for it hours or days later. In order to prevent this, you have to take care of your hip before, during and after walking.
In this video you'll also see example hip arthritis exercises to help you support your hip in the best ways. Walking is such a vital daily activity and here's to getting started on no longer dreading it.

Thank you so much , I am going to physical therapy now they don't ask anything about arthritis. I have learned more by watching your videos than going to physical. Therapy.

I start therapy for severe hip OA next month. Wondering what to expect! I’ve been watching these videos for the last few weeks and have been doing several of the exercises every day.

Ive found the younger ones are judgy and do the bare minimum.
Also, the arthritis isnt as important as muscular support and flexibility of your joints. They are aware of arthritis. Im a big fan of physical therapy. It works. You will see. Work hard.

Merry Christmas 🎄. Greetings from France 🥰🤗. You are truly a blessing to me. I had a spine surgery in 2014 after a serious aggression which almost left me paralyzed. My hubby refused to help me after my surgery and I hurt nyself. My walking was a kinda "hip dance" which tired me in seconds but I had to take my Newfoundland for her daily short walks and her swimming. The pain worsened and when I was giving up hope I cane upon a video on your Prestigious Channel on how to stand from a long seated position. I tried it and 😱OMG a miracle took place, I WALKED PAIN FREE. Cannot describe the joy in my heart and how my eyes shined like diamonds, I had never experienced happiness. Today 25/12/2023 THIS video popped in front of my eyes. This is EXACTLY ME IN FULL DESCRIPTION , A PAINFUL DUCK WALK. I began these exercises to be able to walk my dog PAIN FREE. Thanks a million from the bottom of my heart for sharing caring and making a 72 year old SMILE 😊❤. A BEARY hug from my water rescue Gentle Giant my Newfoundland and a big hug of gratitude from me. 🥰🥰🥰🤗🤗🤗😍😍😍🌹🌹🌹

Gotta love perfect timing! I had just done a couple of these, which I've learned from you. Had forgotten about the leg swing! Adding it back plus a few of the others that are new to me. I've been lax in my consistency. Back at it! Thank you so much for your content. Keep the motivation coming! 🤗🌟💕

Can you do a video on pain at the attachment of the glutes onto the hip? I have a lot of pain at the top of the hip in the back where glute muscles attach.

Upon the very first side step putting the left leg out, my right leg hurts so badly. I came to this video becaue i have pain when walking. The right leg has pain that radiates from 1 inch below the crease of my hip, and keeps me from wanting to walk at all as it starts within the first few steps. Standing in a room, putting all my weight on the left leg, and then gently shifting that weight over onto my right foot causes me to feel wobbly, all along the length of my thigh and
also in the glute. i even feel unsure that Im actually going to hold myself up. Another action I struggle with is changing directions. It just feels wobbly at the knee, and I feel I need to stop iny tracks or the next step with that right leg will not hold my weight. Is that arthritis? It never dawned on me this was arthritis. Can you point me in the right direction for what to try? I am 63.

I discovered by accident that when i start to feel hip pain while walking, pushing my heel up just slightly with each step--not toe-walking but just hinting at it--I get relief. Does that make sense?

Driving for long periods seems to aggravate where glutes attach to hip in back. Can you address this area?

I have always walked in smallish steps and at slower speeds compared to almost everyone I know/ have known.
I have osteoarthritis in my left hip now, and walking is not as easy.
I am on the h-EDS scale. Since really going after knowledge about this syndrome or diagnosis, whatever it's called; I'm wondering if that's why I was always walking in slower smaller steps. Possibly, I was worried about twisting my ankle or torquing my knee if taking longer steps. Who knows.
I'm enjoying your activities, and I'm wondering what your input is on people that are older, have arthritis along with with hypermobility.
    Thank you.
I only exercise and stretch to my capabilities; and your thoughtful approach is much appreciated.
