Thabang Lehobo Pagani allways uses the Merc V12 engine and Aston Martin now becomes the Merc/AMG V8 engines as Merc is also co owner of Aston Martin.
@116142925390180895180 They use since 2014/15 Honda motors, because Mercedes was unsatisfied with their engine development and cancelled the contract.
As the actuall results in 2015 show, the Merc engeniers do a better job on the engine than the MClarren guys.
BMW had to invest plenty million into a F1 car engine, and they would do it only for their own F1 team and BMW car. But BMW has no F1 interest and historicaly never been engagged in the F1.
Mercedes on ther other side has a legendary race history since the 1930´s with the legendary Silver arrows. Even at that time only Audi (Auto Union was a rival to Mercedes and they fought on everything, even high speed records:
In 1938 "Bernd Rosemeyer" reached 429 km/h in his Auto Union V16 car, but was blown from the steet at top speed by a wind blow at his second run back the same route (and died, by the accident).
So the official speed record was to Mercedes with also 438 km/h and Rudolf Caracciola behind the steering weehl.

760Li is supposed to compete with the S65 AMG because both are V12s, whereas the S63 AMG is supposed to compete with the 750Li because both are V8s.
+Brandon Chiam they compete on price point not on engines . amgs are awesome but they are always brutes that dont handle compared to the equivalent BMW's . i love both but pound for pound the BMW is a more overall winner

PlayerGT ALALA The Bentley uses Audi bin bits. It's not as "unique" as you think. Outside of the paint and parts of the interior, it's very VW. The S65 isn't common either.

@@Baalenciaga666 depends on the country, in the netherlands an amg will easily drop 60-70% of it's value after 1 year, while bimmers will lose just under half. with the ricidulous taxes we have here on expensive cars, the people who can afford to drive them can afford to buy them new.
Too much tech if the electrics go then everything stops working and also the fact that almost no one will buy a V12 BMW
The AMGs lost their value too. And they're godawful when you need to repair something when compared to the BMW.

Nobody forgot about it. For the price of the S65, you could have a 760Li and an M3 both. This is a price-point comparison. Top Gear knew exactly what they were doing when they pitted these cars against each other.

WOOOOOWWWW!!! This was AWESOME!!! I have the 2012 750Li M-Sport (Twin Turbo -V8). While I have never had it on a track, I have managed to smoke the doors off of 3 cars while on the highway. Those cars included a 2012 Camaro SS (my buddy's), a Mercedes S550, and a Lexus 460L.

Well, after watching this, my opinions about the long vehicles of BMW and Benz have changed dramatically. I thought that these cars badly needs the DSC just to keep them stable on turns. As Stig turns off the DSC on the 760Li, it didn't handle as badly as I expected.

The Merc might be a V8 but it is AMG. The BMW is just a BMW not M GmbH. This is comparison between "normal" BMW and Merc AMG. So I think its good comparison. And I really love the BMW. It looks awesome with this M Sport bumpers. S-class is awesome too, but for me even S65 ain't better then the 760Li. Just love it. ;)

To be honest I hear what you say, Mercedes is AMG! but how about Mercedes S600? it is not an AMG car, It is V12 like the BMW, but smaller engine 5.5L displacement where BMW is 6.0L! With a smaller engine and not being an AMG, Mercedes S600 makes more HP and Torque, and it is faster than BMW too! At least, there is no doubt Mercedes is making best engines ever! All those people whining how S65 would blow it away. It wouldn't, performance is very similar to S63 0.1 seconds higher acceleration to 100 and top speed is limited on both. Same package for steering and all that stuff.
New S63 has BETTER acceleration than S65 since its awd (3.9 seconds S63 vs 4.2 S65). So could anyone explain me how will S65 win magically? Thanks in advance

it wouldn't, but it's still a better car. i don't care who has better performance. who has better tech & who's more luxurious? Mercedes is that's who. Mercedes is and always will be the better luxury car. now performance wise, nobody tops BMW, nobody! BMW held that title for years and still has it today.

1) BMW Li was already in production. 2) Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W221) S63 AMG went on sale in January, but S65 on July, which means, filming would need to happen half year later. Besides, BMW Li smoked S63 being older and with less horsepower and you wanted BMW to compete with S65? xD

Matthew Coupe There is a faster version of the LS460, which is the LS600hL, although it is around one second slower to 60 than all of the competitors. The XJR is about half a second compared to the S8.

BMW didn't really have a rival to the S63 around this time. In fact, even today the S63 is faster than the M760Li. Alpina is a luxurious cruiser car without speed limiter, like the SL basically.

Observing James fascination with the BMW’s side cameras in 2022 is interesting seeing how many new cars now have driver assists to keep cars in lanes, park themselves, hit the brakes automatically. Luxury car brands seem to do a lot in terms of being test pilots for future technologies for the car industry. We continue to see that with the high performance EV’s that are hitting the streets now.

Rather the AMG truth be told, even though I drive a bmw. Its more reliable and holds it's value compared to the 7 series bmw's.
whaaaa? find me a s class that held it's value!! Not a single luxury car holds it's value, and s class is the worst of them all. In Europe you can get an s class for the same amount of money I can sell my 5 series. (same year) and considering the price differance of those two when they were new that says alot, and the 7 series is the same as the s class maybe a bit better when it comes to holding it's value.

jura2304 In the US bmw 7 series are dirt cheap while the S class amg holds the value at a couple thousand more.

No, the S63 4matic has a faster 0-60 speed, as most V8s do over V12 counterparts. The S65 is the faster car.

I have watched this video probably 100 times, because I have the BMW, and my big brother has the Merc.. After growing up homeless and in foster homes, to actually make a living, reminds me of the people that cared for us as children and told us we could still accomplish what other kids could despite our situation… They are still a part of my life, and I consider my family. There are still good hearted people out there.

That BMW is just brilliant. Its just the perfect combination of luxury and sportiness. I dont hate the mercedes, it is also very impressive being as powerful as a twin turbo V12. But if i had to choose between them, i would go for the BMW. It is pretty expensive though. If you didn't already know, BMW stands for Burnt My Wallet lol.
And the AMG stands for All my Money is Gone...lol, to add on that A Man of God.

the 760 should be compared with the S600, they are both v12s and have the same displacement of 6.0liters and cost about the same amount.... the S63 is a v8 car and should not be in this matchup nor should the S65 as some people here are saying !
i agree. both the 760 and S600 are built for luxury and comfort. the two AMG S-classes are both amazing, but are more speed oriented.

Lol S65 doesn't compete with 760li. S65 costs like a $100,000 more. You call that a fair comparison? The S63 vs 760li is very fair as they cost the same. It's not all about turbos and cylinders. Any car can be engineered to pump out as many HP as needed. Look at the GTR. It has half as many cylinders as this 760li and GTR still has more HP and is a lot faster.
Carbon-Monoxide Who's talking about luxury? We're talking about engines, horsepower, and performance because people think that S63 can't compete with 760li just because S63 is V8 and BMW is V12. My point of bringing up GTR waste show that cylinders aren't everything. A V6 and V8 can have just as much power as V12.

Levigitaar Lol awful in every way? Sorry to break it to you but no AMG is better than GTR on any performance level. Acceleration, handling, braking, and anything else GTR lays down the ass beating on AMG like none other. Intact now every car from the AMG division is starting to become like a GTR. AMG used to be all about a big screaming engine that burned rubber from rear wheels on the track. And now AMG has become just like a GTR, AWD, smaller engine with turbos, launch control and everything else GTR has been doing since 2009.

Levigitaar Nope, I would rather take AMG over GTR as well, especially if it's the S63/S65. I'm not a nascar driver so AMG is more than fast enough for me plus I'll get a lot of luxury features. My point is performance wise you can't of wrong with GTR. Like it or not but GTR is one of the best performance cars out there.
The Stig is the perfect chauffeur, no small talk implied during cruise.

The fact that is has 2 electric motors that make another 200 hp(900 HP in total) is irrelevant since it doesnt change combuston engines HP output.
They should compare the S600 with the 760Li instead of the S63 AMG
