They leaned harder into the “Stranger Things” angle instead of leaning harder into “Ghostbusters”. Phoebe Spengler doesn’t feel Egon-ish at all anymore.
More like a big budget CW movie, the gay ghost angle was weird AF. not old enough to fight ghost, but old enough to kill your self and be with a ghost you met 5 minutes ago.

Yeah that's a conclusion i reached surprisingly after watching Leo, not every movie needs a sequel or be turned into a series, just enjoy the single story
Red Letter Media did not actually say they liked this movie. They said they didn't hate it like they thought they would. They then bashed it quite a bit, but they made it clear that they still didn't completely hate it because their expectations for things like this are so low now. They also said they should let the franchise die. That's hardly a positive review.
This is why 1980s movies are so bad ass they barely made any films for kids. They made the films they wanted to make mainly for adults but we kids loved it as well and this is why they have the longevity that they do. We enjoy them as kids And we still fucking love them as adults
To be fair, now. In the 80s they sold adult movies to children. For an era that, in actual film buff circles, is referred to as "repressive" on film due to films becoming corporatized there is a surprising amount of movies that were specifically targeted at children that were not written or made for specifically children.
They keep adding characters because they are still thinking that they can make this into a "Cinematic Universe" where these characters can lead their own spin-offs. Terrible.
It seemed like an episode of RGB, almost like Ghostbusters need to make a new tv series that connects the movies. Like this movie felt like the pilot episode for a Ghostbusters show.
The original Ghostbusters was and always has been a movie for adults. This is what no other movie in the series gets. Yes, there was a cartoon for kids, but many adult movies had one (Rambo, Robocop, and there was even one of Aliens in the works). That doesn't mean the movie itself is directed at kids. Every other Ghostbusters movie has tried to appeal to a wider audience and in the process lost what made the original so special. This is why they can't recapture the magic of the original: because they're not making the effort. They want the same cake by changing the recipe.
im gonna say it, Harold Ramis was the key(master) to the Ghostbuster franchise. Dan Aykroyd and Ramis wrote both part 1 and 2 but without Ramis(RIP), GB will never be the same
The problem is that a bunch of people didn't like Ghostbusters 2. Personally I liked it, but it was definitely a step or two below the original. The issue is that Ramis/Aykroyd struck gold the first time and was never able to recapture it. The main problem these new films (and the franchise overall) have is that the story refuses to movie forward. I wish that Ghostbusters the video game was official and the franchise built from that. With the Ghostbusters franchising and going national.
Last time Harold Ramos was involved with the franchise was Ghostbusters The Video Game, and that game is still the closest to a true follow up to the first two movies. The 2016 reboot sucked and Afterlife and this go in a different direction.
True but at the same time it gets really annoying after 4 plus years of the same bullshit. I actually stopped watching for a while cuz it got really really bad at one point to where it was obviously on purpose. Joe is for sure hot-headed asf lol. @@judgedredd7933
The stupidest part was how Phoebe was “lonely” and she tried to make friends with the ghost girl like, “Oh wow you understand me so much”. YOU LITERALLY BEFRIENDED PODCAST IN AFTERLIFE BECAUSE HE UNDERSTOOD YOU AND YOU HARDLY FUCKING HANG OUT WITH HIM. THE FUCK???
First time? That could be said of a lot of stuff these days. Disney Star Wars. Disney Marvel Disney Indiana Jones Disney live action remakes. Sony Ghostbusters Sony Spiderverse Thank god Back to the Future has remained untouched...as of yet.
Spoken like someone who isn't a fan of the series. Waited over thirty years for new Ghostbusters movies and when we start getting them what happens? People like you saying they should stop making them.
@@GhostbustersFan77 so is waiting 30 years worth it for underwhelming mediocre films? Look at it another way. Indiana Jones had an ending with Last Crusade where they rode off into the sunset. Then 19 years later in 2008 they brought him back in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull as an older Indy. Now Crystal Skull is not a grear film and certainly was weaker than the films that came before. But I enjoyed it and felt we again got a final sendoff with Indy marrying Marion. Then because Disney are creatively bankrupt they decide to make a fifth film..scrapping what Spielberg had outlined. The result was an ill conceived legacy sequel that should have left well enough alone that arguably damaged the brand more than Crystal Skull ever did which at least felt like an adventure. Dial was an excercise in misery that got too hung up on the idea that getting old sucks. We get it. We saw Indy older in Crystal Skull. No one wants to see a hero washed up as a broken and divorced alcoholic. But this is a template for Disney now where rhey have to shit on a beloved legacy character to try and prop up an insufferable and unlikable girl boss. Does everything need a sequel? No. Back to the Future is a perfect trilogy as it is and no one with any sense wants a Back to the Future 4. Especially when it wouldn't have Michael J. Fox who is battling Parkinson's. And Chris Lloyd is too old.

My nitpick was that the big bad can controll ghosts but not Humans, needs the main character's ghost that is LINKED to her human body to chant the incantation... why not uhm... I dont know... "MAKE A POSSESOR GHOST TAKE HOLD OF HER BODY" and then do the incantation... They clearly showed possessor ghosts in the movie, and we know ghosts can possess Humans from past movies.
I always felt like the hate on Ghostbusters 2 was just a hate trend. I loved it. Obviously, it's not as good as the first one, but it's no way as bad as people make out.
Ghostbusters 2 is bad because it's just the first movie again but less funny. The Ghostbusters have to start from nothing, nobody believes them at first, Dana accidentally ends up in a world ending supernatural plot that she has to be saved from, Peter and Dana build a romance, the Ghostbusters get incarcerated before the mayor releases them and gives them his full support, they save the day and everybody cheers. They had a chance to build on the first movie but they just told it again instead.
@@ThomasStClair-zr2lb I can’t totally disagree! Though I always felt that Dana being back was purposeful, as she worked in the museum. And the slime purposefully came up to be run over by her baby carriage, whether it was within or without Vigo’s control. And I guess I liked that Peter and Dana had to rekindle a romance, I guess it helps show character growth for him in a way? I think the jokes landed better, were more creative, Louis Tully is a great character (that Frozen Empire tried to recreate in 4 or 5 different characters), the hilarious ridiculousness of some of it, like the Statue of Liberty- that’s what made the movie work for me.
Why would i want to watch the same movie again when i can just watch GB1 again when i want? People has done everything that could be done. Nothing can be fresh and original anymore and always will be someone to complain about. That counts for music, for games and for movies. When something works is like finding the needle in a haystack.
Something "working" is called putting in effort and thinking about the vision you're trying to create. It doesn't need to be rare. The more I think about it, Ghostbusters just doesn't work as a multi-movie franchise. The first film worked as it was a couple of guys building a pest control business but with ghosts, with all the blue collar comedy of these four rubes somehow beating an elder god. Each film after that just doesn't reach the same heights and retreading old ground. I think a new TV series would be great as the 'monster of the week' format works well with the concept.
Oh it works, with the right people. Sadly well this one had again the wrong people like 2016 too. Afterlife was nice.... But hey Ah and you need to toss the damn political correctness woke crap.

@@GhostbustersFan77Yeah but they had more build up and grandiose finish. Those villains actually felt like a threat. They killed people. They were defeated with proper set peices that affected the city/town around them. This bad guy's fight was so anti-climactic. All of it felt like it was confined to just the firestation as opposed to the entire city. It made it feel like the threat against the Ghostbusters and New York were two seperate things. It would've been better if the fight happened in Central Park on a frozen lake or something. Maybe have a car chase there and then the Ecto-1 gets frozen and trashed, idk. At least then it would've been at the same place Phoebe met her girlfriend, and had some sentimental value. Anywhere that isn't just the confined space of the fire station would've been better. The fire station made the threat look smaller than it should've.

Vigo Stepped out of the painting, tried to posses a child and then Ray only to be forced back into the painting. They never killed anybody. Nobody died in GB1 or 2. If Garraka was after the Ghosts in The containment unit why would they fight him in Central Park? A Car Chase? Respectfully I don't want to see Ghostbusters : Fast and the Furious. And Why do people assume that just because Phoebe befriended a Ghost who happens to be female that makes them Girlfriends?
Just saw this movie tonight. Very disappointing as a whole. I was born in 86 and I grew up with the ghostbusters. How can writers who get paid to do this make such a terrible script?
*Spoiler alert* As someone who absolutely loved Afterlife and all previous Ghostbuster movies with a passion, I was terribly disappointed in this lazily written and poorly executed sequel. It felt like the movie needed an extra 30-45 minutes to truly develop the storyline and characters but never got there. Bill Murray was palpably unenthusiastic and Dan Akroyd was okay at best. The billionaire philanthropist, Winston Zeddemore, created a state-of-the-art ghost jail and research facility, and then apparently proceeded to hire a child and stereotypical science nerd to run the place, while simultaneously forgetting to install a security system, hire a guard, or install a backup power generation system which the entire place relied on to keep ghosts in their cells. The villain, "Garraka", was too graphic for younger audience members, while also lacking any real depth as a bad guy. Its always puzzling that these ancient souls existed before the earliest known languages, but somehow manage to speak modern English at the same time. The final battle resulted in most of the characters being frozen, yet miraculously reanimating just in time for the final battle. The containment system which blew up and released every ghost ever caught was also somehow turned into the trap that caught Garraka. No real conclusion as to what happened to all the other ghosts that were released as we are to assume they were just magically trapped at the same time even though they were assumedly spread out all over the tristate area. To wrap this up, even though I could go on, the manner in which Phoebe melted down brass using a handheld torch and then proceeded to pour it over the particle accelerator without any collateral damage to any of the other sensitive components was laughably dumb and completely unbelievable. Honestly, the rare moments I caught myself enjoying this movie were the moments when Kumail would seemingly join me in my disbelief of the nonsense they were trying to sell us. His comedic performance saved this movie from being a total failure, even though his character somehow mastering the ancient magic skill of being a fire master went from not believing in it at all, to him struggling to light a candle, to defeating Garraka within the span of a few hours. I truly hope the franchise doesn't become another Marvel-esque cash-grab, but if this film was any clue, I have low expectations for future sequels but hope they will use the same formula as Afterlife if they do.
James A Caster is one of my favorite British comedians and they didn’t do much with him and Kumail is equally hilarious but even more pointless. Too many characters and I gave up caring…
The lesbian ghost romance could have been HILARIOUS if they just ran with it, do a freaking goofy montage or something ala Spiderman 3. At least try to be funny! But with the way franchise films are made now, they have to appeal to the Chinese market, and if you did that, it'd be flagged by their censorship laws. Phoebe should have approached the relationship like Egon, very scientific, doing experiments on her, etc. I was really disappointed with this. A missed opportunity to do something really unique and fun. The script really needed more time in the oven.
Who cares that they were both female? What about one of them being played by a child, while the other was already an adult. They should have cast a younger actress for the love interest, or don't make it romantic at all.
@didimean You can't even call it pandering because they were such cowards that they couldn't commit to it. It's like Joe said, the movie doesn't commit to anything. You have this romance that is always framed as a "friendship" even though it's very clearly more than that.
It annoys me that this and afterlife pretty much tosses out the ‘09 game out of the timeline, even tho it pretty much held the title of GB 3 up until the latter was finally made. It was also the last one that had been written by Akroyd and Ramis
Because the game is 3 movies worth of plot. Ghostbusters 3, 4 and 5. Let's say Ghostbusters Return, Ghostbusters Go To Hell, and Ghostbusters Hell Freezes Over. Some ideas that were kicking around and Dan Ackroyd couldn't get made (some of which was because of Bill Murray). They don't want to refer to lore not everyone knows. It's easier to not canonize it, but real fans can. It doesn't really matter, If you know you know.
@@cornbredxyeah but they couldve included some elements here in frozen empire but the story was really hard to follow and not much action for almost entire movie. Same. I was born in 84, so I missed out on the firsy movie. I became a fan because of the animated series. Then I saw the 2nd movie. Loved it. Then I went back and watched the first one. This movie has the dark side of the 2nd movie, but also felt like the animated series (which is what they went for). The best thing for me was looking over at my 10 yr old daughter, and her loving it. 'Passing the GB Fan torch.
The mid credits scene had me wanting a Maximum Overdrive remake, and then I was swiftly disappointed to see the little Mini Puffs driving the truck. I'm not even mad anymore, just disappointed in....almost everything really.

I actually HATED Paul Rudd in this. His character was obnoxiously manic and bipolar as hell. It's like he was playing two different characters. I also HATED the awkward dynamic between him and the mom. Why are they so afraid to say they were dating? Everything about those two were so weird!
Nothing identifies bad directing like characters disappearing with NOTHING TO DO. Finn and Lucky both completely disappeared in this movie. And you were bringing back an audience that saw both of them form a relationship that worked pretty good and was believable, in the last movie. You just ignored your audience, and did what you wanted to. Don't ever EXPECT people to a film, when you do that.
RedLetterMedia had expertly posited that Ghostbusters 2016 film received a better critic score because the Sony's marketing and advertising team pitted the male audience against the female audience when the movie trailer was first shown and the horrible trailer was down voted. This strategy backfired on them massively. Critics felt it was their duty to defend a female-only Ghostbuster team and the intelligent audience lambasted the movie's story for being terrible, no motive for villain and the garbage jokes.
Gb2016, afterlife and frozen empire all have a 6 of 10 for me. Gb2016 is not bad, it is definitely more fresh as the soft reboots, but all movies fail on other aspects. Frozen empire is the weakest, as its basically kill the franchise, as no one wants more of that
@@MrInvinciblewarrior For me, GB 2016 is the weakest. The jokes completely fall flat and the conversations went off into rambling tangents. The villain in GhostBusters: Frozen Empire, Garraka the demon lord has more of motive than the villain in GB2016. So what is Rowan's motive? Rowan was an incel stalker paranormal scientist who was ridiculed so much that he caused ghost terrorism and killed himself to become a powerful ghost, really? So, Rowan is the equivalent of the Just Stop Oil protestor. Garraka actually killed people with his powers. Rowan killed himself, froze the police department, and turned himself into the Ghostbusters logo and tried to kidnap a woman. The SNL cast played unlikable characters and Chris Helmsworth acted his worst character role. Ghostbusters 2016 was for me a 2/10 and Frozen Empire was a 4/10.
RLM is mostly wrong about critics. About the audience, probably partially right. Critics are activists and have been for decades. They don't need movie studios to goad them into politically motivated reviews. Chappelle's Special should be strong enough evidence of that.
I loved it. A bit too long and a few too many characters but it was good. The Phoebe-ghost storyline could have been cut out completely and nothing would have been lost.
I liked “Afterlife” better but my biggest gripe with both the newer films is they don’t use the original ghostbusters theme at all during the movies. They have some cool scenes that if they played the original theme during the scenes it would take them to another level. It’s a huge missed opportunity to the overall feeling of the movies.
Was pretty disappointed with it tbh, felt like there was to many characters in it for the sake of it. felt like a few characters held the whole movie and the rest were just pretty shit. Jokes were bad and the nostalgia wasnt there just felt really forced. Without spoiling the end was super rushed.
The last 25 minutes of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire was a good Episode of *The Real Ghostbusters* and *Extreme Ghostbusters.* Too bad that it takes 1 hour 25 minutes of boring, stuffed with memberberries filler to get to those 25 minutes.
Afterlife was way better, the ending to this movie was rushed so fast? There was no tension whatsoever near the end. The fire bender character was just comic relief, and once he was introduced it was clear what our ghost character's matchbook was for..
What's really bizarre is that Emily Lind is playing a carbon copy of the character she played in Doctor Sleep. Right down to her being an implied lesbian. Even her hair looks the same in both films.
That's the wrong way to look at it in my opinion. Make a good Ghostbusters movie. 'Ghostbusters: Afterlife' wasn't bad and in the third act it was even very good.
Ghostbusters Frozen Empire was such an AWFUL movie. Joking about burning an entire family is not funny. McKenna Grace becomes “friends” with a ghost that died in the 1910’s and sounds hipster and some how the ghost has feelings. How a ghost posses a cd player? This is too long sorry It was upsetting it should have ended at Ghostbusters 1&2! End rant. Last thing I swear There is a mention of a sex dungeon and how the person screams! Hey man this is a Pg-13 movie. 2 out of ten
It felt like half of the script was generated by Ai. Afterlife was a decent passing the torch film. This movie should have been more about the old crew teaching the new crew how to be ghostbusters at the beginning. Could have had a classic montage of training. Then a new thread happens early that the new crew has to handle. That would have been all the nostalgia needed. Simple as that. Instead we got the… fire master storyline and a full harvest of memba berries. There should have been a scene of the originals siting around a table reminiscing old ghostbusting adventures, being frightened etc… that scene could have been more funny than this entire movie.
I like Joe's reviews, but I finally realized what is off about them -- they don't edit the camera going back and forth between who's talking, so you just see Alex looking bored for the first 15 mins (and OJ too sometimes). They would benefit from a more conventional style imo, just some constructive criticism
@@vincentrock5601He's better with not interrupting so much. It should be him talking more since it's his show. Just need to switch the camera based on who's talking, makes for a better show
@@KorraPokeReactions He used to, but got squashed back by Joe. Watch the earlier vids with Alex, it's kinda funny to watch the progression to this. The current format is: Joe goes first (the others may interject a little), then OJ, then Alex last. Which is totally fine. Just cut the camera because his dreary appearance is depressing lol
A Ghostbuster falling in love with a friendly ghost COULD be interesting. A retired Ghostbuster secretly making a facility that advances ghost hunting technology in case of a future disaster COULD work. A young mage tapping into their ancient inherited power to assist the scientifically oriented heroes against a villain too strong for the Busters to handle COULD work. But putting all this shit together in the same movie with a dozen characters to juggle? No, it's a mess.
Extreme Ghostbusters got so dark the studios wanted them to lighten up and the writer said no. One reason there is no season 2. Which I am glad they did not let the studio soften the stories like they wanted.
One of the bits I did wonder "wtf?" was the Lion scene. 4 cops turned up and actually saw the statue moving and attacking yet what do they do? arrest the girl. That scene where the big bad got out of the pokeball and Lucky shot at him with the proton pack should have been the moment a character dies, add some tension to the movie 'cause the characters cared for her. She had less screen time than Patton Oswald does in this movie and I honestly cannot remember much of her character from Afterlife at all.
I don’t know, Harold loved everything Ghostbusters. It’s a shame really because they did have a heap of potential post afterlife. The plot was sloppy. Some scenes needed to be cut completely and other scenes needed to be extended and explained more. The nostalgia stuff was a bit much (I enjoyed it don’t get me wrong) but it’s a shame that they felt they had to lean into that stuff again. For example (SPOILERS BEYOND HERE) :- Peck didn’t need to be in this movie at all. I was happy to see him but he didn’t need to be here at all. The librarian ghost (Elenor Twitty) was awesome to see back but they still haven’t trapped her and this confirms for certain the video game isn’t canon. Garraka felt like he did absolutely nothing and really should have been in the movie much longer than he was. His intro set him up to be really intimidating and then he did pretty much nothing.
Ramis would have hated the fact that they put him in it as a ghost and got all sentimental. His comedy was alway super cynical and he would have hated it. You don’t need to know him to know that
The bad thing is, its the same writers and directors as Afterlife, only its Gil directing instead of Jason. theres NO reason why the quality dropped so hard from the last one
Me n my 3 friends really had a good time with this film, ending was a bit meh but the build up n characters was really good. I would watch another Ghostbusters film
You'd be shocked by 6 year olds in public schools these days. They talk about sex, "adult films", use profanity, use vulgar sex slang, etc. What's for kids these days is not at all what was for kids in the 90s and earlier.
@@EvilGoodGuy What are you talking about?? :/ Kids shows in the 90s were handled by professional writers and hollywood producers who wanted to make a show that a child could enjoy but an adult could also get something out of with all of the innuendos/jokes and sometimes very real adult consequences depending on the show out there. Sometimes even the shows meant to sell toys (Beast Wars) would have some first class writing and episodes. When people talk about "Kids Cartoons", usually they mean "80s cartoons". The ones usually made to be dumb on purpose just to sell action figures and ones where the plot means nothing and goes nowhere but "bad guy got his butt kicked" and then they would have a "sick burn" thrown their way "because funny".
I immediately thought that they should have made two movies - this one with Winston, Ray, the family and MAYBE Lars the scientist and the Firestarter, and a (extreme) spinoff-movie with Peter, Dana, Janine, Podcast, Lucky, Patton Oswalt and one or two young new characters, preferably in Los Angeles because there could have been some comedy with nobody believing that it's real ghosts and not Hollywood stuff. As it is in this movie hardly anyone gets enough screen time. Oh, and I would have given the ghost romance (if it REALLY had to be in there) to Trevor instead of Phoebe because his sister had the entirety of Afterlife to shine and Trevor was near-useless in BOTH movies ... and Phoebe did some really stupid things due to this that would have been easier to believe if it had been Trevor and not his stoic-sceptic little genius sister.
Let Alex speak more. It took 12 minutes to hear anything from him. Then he kept getting interrupted. Alex saved this review. The points from AJ and OJ weren't as substantive. The opening of the movie was great. The fire department from 1904 was great and genuinely spooky with that whole scene, and showing the monster living in the orb at the beginning was also perfect and creepy. This movie had a GREAT start and really laid the perfect groundwork, then everything immediately went down hill.
If you watch Red Letter Media, when they talk about Sony movies... this is their M.O. Low budget, too many characters and plot threads, pandering with rememberberries, product placement, and bad bad jokes. Too much corporate meddling in the wrong places is the problem. The sad part is that there's probably a ton of deleted scenes that could conceivable turn this into an enjoyable film. What this needs (at the very least) is a Jason Reitman cut.

This is why 1980s movies are so bad ass they barely made any films for kids. They made the films they wanted to make mainly for adults but we kids loved it as well and this is why they have the longevity that they do. We enjoy them as kids And we still fucking love them as adults
Exactly 🎯
sounds like a lot of cope, there were countless shit films even back then.
To be fair, now. In the 80s they sold adult movies to children.
For an era that, in actual film buff circles, is referred to as "repressive" on film due to films becoming corporatized there is a surprising amount of movies that were specifically targeted at children that were not written or made for specifically children.
@@Blanktester685there weren't as many crap shit films then as there are today tho it is all mostly crap now
Movies made for kids in the 80s were mostly animated. With a few G or PG rated live action ones. Those became especially popular in the early-mid 90s!
They keep adding characters because they are still thinking that they can make this into a "Cinematic Universe" where these characters can lead their own spin-offs. Terrible.
What, are you saying you're not excited for Ghostbusters: Podcast?! :D
@CptSupermrkt You mean the upcoming “Ghostbusters: Like & Subscribe!”
I don’t like how they went from a firefighter team dynamic to a family thing. It felt like a ABC Family movie that comes airs on Halloween.
It literally serves to prolong the careers of these actors that no one cares about anymore. Nothing else.
It seemed like an episode of RGB, almost like Ghostbusters need to make a new tv series that connects the movies. Like this movie felt like the pilot episode for a Ghostbusters show.
But, they did treat it as a firefighter team dynamic? Just with a family.
They want the same cake by changing the recipe.
ghostbusters 2
@@Blanktester685Ghostbusters 2 was deliberately dumbed down to appeal to fans of the cartoon.

im gonna say it, Harold Ramis was the key(master) to the Ghostbuster franchise. Dan Aykroyd and Ramis wrote both part 1 and 2 but without Ramis(RIP), GB will never be the same
Doe...Ray.... Egon😂

It is dead. It has died. It died a long time ago. It died back in 2015-2016 when they announced that godawful abomination that came out.

I rate Ghostbusters 1 & 2 about the same
GB2 is amazing! I’d watch it any day. FE unfortunately just didn’t hit right. Was hoping for so much more.
It feels like the same people who like GB2 would be the same people who like TFA because its just A New Hope.......AGAIN. Even though if I wanted to watch that movie i could already do so.
Agreed. The future installments need to be scarier. Hit the modern kids with a dose of 80s PG-rated horror.
We do need a new monster if the week show since supernatural ended.

Just saw this movie tonight. Very disappointing as a whole. I was born in 86 and I grew up with the ghostbusters. How can writers who get paid to do this make such a terrible script?
Who wanted a Boogeyman movie story. Make it scary with natural humor.
@20:15 wow, Angry J actually aware he is cutting off Alex. What happened ? he is awake this time ? lol
Forced lesbian ghost love story and suicide for two minutes was among the many lines crossed into total stupidity.

Agreed so fucking tired of that crappy LGBT propaganda
Who cares that they were both female? What about one of them being played by a child, while the other was already an adult. They should have cast a younger actress for the love interest, or don't make it romantic at all.
@didimean You can't even call it pandering because they were such cowards that they couldn't commit to it. It's like Joe said, the movie doesn't commit to anything. You have this romance that is always framed as a "friendship" even though it's very clearly more than that.
Red Letter Media said I didn’t hate it.. then went on to criticize the film for 40 min lol….
It annoys me that this and afterlife pretty much tosses out the ‘09 game out of the timeline, even tho it pretty much held the title of GB 3 up until the latter was finally made. It was also the last one that had been written by Akroyd and Ramis
Yeah they shouldve just kept gbtvg canon that was a good story
I think they are supposed to be married, which makes your valid point much worse
The de-possession object itself was cool and makes sense. How the object was used in terms of Phoebe was dumb.
I feel like i didnt see a single ad for this movie i honestly forgot about it
I liked “Afterlife” better but my biggest gripe with both the newer films is they don’t use the original ghostbusters theme at all during the movies.
I just walked out of the theatre thinking what the hell was the point of bringing the original cast back? They didnt do much.
Yes, it feels like they stole an old real ghostbusters script and made sure all their targets are hit
As a movie theater manager. Definitely let a manager know next time. They will yeet him
The “bustin makes me feel good” line in the trailer made my eyes roll. So I can’t imagine seeing the actual movie.
Afterlife was way better, the ending to this movie was rushed so fast? There was no tension whatsoever near the end. The fire bender character was just comic relief, and once he was introduced it was clear what our ghost character's matchbook was for..
THE ONLY VOICE THAT MATTERS IS ALEXs, thanks for the getting right to the point and the TRUTH AS ALWAYS!
What's really bizarre is that Emily Lind is playing a carbon copy of the character she played in Doctor Sleep. Right down to her being an implied lesbian. Even her hair looks the same in both films.
Can they just let this series go already
That's the wrong way to look at it in my opinion. Make a good Ghostbusters movie. 'Ghostbusters: Afterlife' wasn't bad and in the third act it was even very good.
Original Ghostbuster targeted SNL audience. This one targets Saturday morning cartoons crowd. 😔
Ghostbusters Frozen Empire was such an AWFUL movie. Joking about burning an entire family is not funny.
Extreme Ghostbusters had the best modern stories.
Extreme Ghostbusters got so dark the studios wanted them to lighten up and the writer said no. One reason there is no season 2. Which I am glad they did not let the studio soften the stories like they wanted.

The villain ghost felt like it lasted 30 minutes
The 3rd act felt so rushed

For example (SPOILERS BEYOND HERE) :-
Peck didn’t need to be in this movie at all.
His turning in his grave 😊
Ramis would have hated the fact that they put him in it as a ghost and got all sentimental. His comedy was alway super cynical and he would have hated it. You don’t need to know him to know that
The bad thing is, its the same writers and directors as Afterlife, only its Gil directing instead of Jason. theres NO reason why the quality dropped so hard from the last one

Wish there were less interruptions so Alex could get out his points fully. Thumbs downed this review for that reason. Less interruptions please.
Edit: I took off the thumbs down. I liked that Alex got to say more in spoilers section. Still think there were too many interruptions though. Although AJ's points in spoilers were solid ones.
if it bothered alex so much surely he could just do his own channel.
***spoiler alert******
phebe knows nothing about this orb. she's been out of the loop as she's "benched" she gets the feels for this ghost and takes her to a secret lab to become a ghost...... and the ghost used this as a trap to release the big bag guy.... make this make sense????? when phebe see's the ghost again she said "was it all for nothing then? (with tears in her eyes) like so betrayed" MAKE THIS SHIT MAKE SENSE, the ghost never asked her to take her to the lab, never asked her to become a ghost, NEVER TALKED ABOUT THE ORB TO PHEBE, never once asked a fucking question of her and all she did was talk to phebe about how she died...... MAKE THIS SHIT MAKE SENSE...... this movie is colossal dog shit.....
Pre-emptive LIKE...like Sony's pre-emptive movie.
I went this last weekend to see it....I finished my popcorn 🍿 and root beer and walked out after 30mins
Not the best, not terrible. It's the second best Ghostbusters movie since 1989.
Finally, someone who agrees on nearly every point about this movie!
First is an absolute classic, second is ok a disappointment but better in hindsight relative to what we have now 2016 is aggressively unfunny
2nd is almost as good as the first. The haunted subway was scary, the river of slime was unsettling and blob in the bathtub was freaky. The movie had an unnerving atmosphere, the new kid friendly gb movies will never have this.
Perfect Assessment.
I got a movie repeater to one time, and asked him if he needed any special help. He shut up for at least 10 minutes!
I completly agree with your movie rating. I watched it yesterday, man what a waste of time. How they make the movie less interesting as the first one? So many characters you dont care about. Stupid Plots, everything all over the place.
The opening of the movie was great. The fire department from 1904 was great and genuinely spooky with that whole scene, and showing the monster living in the orb at the beginning was also perfect and creepy. This movie had a GREAT start and really laid the perfect groundwork, then everything immediately went down hill.

I miss Rick Moranis
No wonder movies are dying these days. Every movie is just shallow and stupid.
"Looking for signs of a good movie." LoL...🤣🤣🤣🤣
If you watch Red Letter Media, when they talk about Sony movies... this is their M.O. Low budget, too many characters and plot threads, pandering with rememberberries, product placement, and bad bad jokes. Too much corporate meddling in the wrong places is the problem. The sad part is that there's probably a ton of deleted scenes that could conceivable turn this into an enjoyable film. What this needs (at the very least) is a Jason Reitman cut.
The lack of the Theme Song on Frozen Empire's trailer should've been a dead giveaway that this wouldn't be good...
They played the theme all through the movie. It had all the classic music...so...nah
I just chalk up the missing theme song to not wanting another visit from Huey Lewis’ lawyers.
@@ShayneRawlshe’s talking about cruel summer.
As Joe states, the villain, late as he was to arrive, was menacing. Def a step back from “Afterlife.”. Tried to do too much.
I knew you wouldn’t like it before I even watched the review. That’s kinda been the sense of most of the reviews lately. But I have to ask, what did you really expect? No way in hell would it ever live up to the classics
I expected a good movie, not such garbage.
I saw it today and mostly liked it but I will say my main critique is that there were WAY too many characters and the story suffered for it.
