Had a 86 AMC Cherokee 4x4 with the 2.8 V6 dual cab...... loved that truck!!! Put 14x10 low pros on it aired them to max psi, and floated it across the mud, around Z71s in south Alabama
Comanche is far better than the jt
Can’t compare a rubicon to the commache no challenge I would still prefer the old school jeep
Love the flashback music! Great comparison Tommy.
I think this is a stupid comparison. The nostalgia for the Comanche and the general hate for anything FCA is going to make 99% of the viewers favor the Comanche. I own a Gladiator and I absolutely love it! I jumped from a 13 JKU to the Gladiator as soon as they hit my local dealership. That being said. I’d like to have a well preserved Comanche because it’s a beautiful truck.
The Gladiator with the diesel will be a great vehicle to off road\modify when its 5+ years or more older and priced accordingly.
Save Triceratops that junky eco diesel no thanks ,, just do a Cummins conversion in it , ,
@@Scepter777 Well This is their 3rd chance at this engine. Time will tell.Cummins is great if you have, time, money and skills to complete this.
still be mid 40s,bloated,overcomplicated and ugly...
Emissions controlled diesels are a nightmare
Definitely the Manche. I got a 89 4x4 short bed 3.5 lift on 33s and it's a beast.
2052 Comanche is still going, Gladiator was dismantled for scrap 15 years earlier.
Yep !
Great comparison i have two Comanches and you can’t beat the simplicity. I love driving them. If you have a Comanche do yourself s favor and joint the Comanche Club. Lots of in-depth knowledge available in that club. .
You seem to has forgotten the S10 pickup when talking about the competition of the time, and the Gladiator has to many things on it to go wrong on it over time, and the price is far to high.
mbsnyderc
What? Nobody cares about the S10. It’s all about the S-15...

Yeah, I know man. That was part of the joke but the GMC twins usually get skipped over and forgotten.
Got

😆😂😆😆
@@Rancherinaz You can't fix your own vehicles.
Had a Cherokee Chief and a CJ7 both great. Loved them to old age.
Thanks for making another video about the Commanche
I have a 2020 Gladiator and I love it. I would also love to have the old school Commanche as well.
Old school all the way!
I have the old one. 1989 love it.
Give me that old skool Comanche every day of the week and twice on Sunday!
it would be better if you buy one
Gladiator for me, it will go places no other small truck will go and look great doing it.
Old trucks had more character . Blaa 80 early 90's not great but they are "classic"
The Comanche is a really cool old truck. I would buy one of they were available locally, would be perfect for my needs of hauling motorbikes, some off roading and using as my everyday set of wheels.
That’s a really beautiful Comanche! I been looking for one for a year but no luck......
$55,000 means big car payment, full coverage insurance, big annual registration fee, expensive 30/60/90 service and much more. I'll take the Comanche all day, every day.
Rear overhang is too long on the gladiator.
I am the proud owner of an 87 Laredo Comanche - original owner - 305.000 miles! I am not interested in the Gladiator, I will keep the longer bed - 7' - and towing capacity - Dana 44 and heavy duty springs.
Tim
Old school for me as well. Often thought of a mash up between a XJ (4 door) and a Comanche SB to get a retro Gladiator ish Jeep.
I had a Comanche back in 86, good little truck. I opted for the four-cylinder fuel injection because the carbureted Chevy V6 ran so horribly. I’ll take a Comanche any day
That 4 banger had more HP than that crappy GM V6 too .
Miss seeing your Cherokee on the channel
I like old school because they are easier to work on. Which I try to do most of my own work.
That is a gorgeous Comanche! I’d take that thing over the new one any day of the week!
Back in the 80s they could atleast make a clutch that didn't overheat, and a frame that didn't bend.
I'll take the 80's Comanche or scrambler. Love the classics.
What about the j10 Full size truck?
@@ZacharySolomon0429 don't know about that one i will have to look it up. My dad had a 70's jeep wagoneer when i was a kid that was awesome. Would love to have one of them.
The Comanche will probably be around another 20 years, whereas the Gladiator will be scrap due to the high cost of maintenance after warranty and/or an expensive computer problem.
The work truck !! 👍🏼 who needs all those driver aides 🙄
Yeah dude boo advancements lets all live in the past
GILAD TSELNIKER lollll
@@giladtselniker8420 Not living in the past, we just have skill in driving. Don't worry, cars will drive themselves eventually and everyone can hold your hand.
If you can't drive. a computer helping just makes you a danger!
James Gerke The computer helps me avoid collisions with those that can’t drive. Plenty of those on the roads these days.
"A knob in his knob" they call that docking these days. The more you know 🌠
I have 3 Comanches and I’ll pick my Comanche every single time.
Old school. My first truck was a 1984 Nissan 720 that was re built from the ground up . The Simplicity and honesty of trucks of that era it's something I look forward to again when I purchase a vehicle to rebuild in the future
I wish I had a comanche. More than a gladiator 🤷🏻♂️
I laughed when he said that the old Comanche was very heavily worked. That one looks like it was only driven by an old lady to get to church on Sundays. He obviously doesn’t know what a Heavily Worked truck looks like after 20 years. That Comanche is beautiful!
Love the Comanche. I’m wondering if they ever made a high output version of the Comanche. The HO 4L in the Cherokee with 5 speed was a sleeper for its day.
Now you’re talking a real unicorn, the H.O. came out in 91, they only made something like 2,000 Comanche’s that year.
1991 and 92 Comanche Eliminator package had the H.O. 4L with the 5 speed
All ‘91 and ‘92 4.0 motors were HO . 1990 was the last year of the Renix .
The Camanche isn't the winner because it costs 45K less, it's the winner because it's design is iconic, simplistic, and beautiful, and because the truck itself is durable, reliable, and practically unkillable
Both of them are good in different ways, change my mind.
Agreed, they're two very different vehicles meant for very different things... that being said, i personally find the older style more charming.. but that's based more on nostalgia then factual reasons.
I agree that steering wheel is fantastic.. 1st thing I replaced when I got my 88 XJ
BTW anyone struggling with Renix vacuum issues u can order replacement everything on Amazon.
There's also a guy who makes stuff for remix called nickintimedesigns. He's made a little engine monitor which is quite cool and useful.
"So once again Jeep is once again, back in a partnership with Peugot. How funny is that?" Not funny.. not funny at all! It's terrible news; it's grave, horrible news. haha
Remember, Peugeot OK'd the XJ/MJ design. Won't help any really since yuppy kids run it these days.
I've owned a Peugeot. I was warned, but still i tried. Would never buy a car that has Peugeot parts in it. Maybe they make great designs but definitively terrible engineering.
Jeep is owned by Fiat.
@@emanuelnamseth1469 Very aware- Fiat owns Puegot also. Puegot and Renault were involved in the worst parts of Jeep, before Chrysler purchased them for the 1988 model year. Fiat has completely left the larger Jeep models to be entirely handled and created by Chrysler's Jeep team. The smaller Jeeps currently produced are however, are almost all rebadged Fiats. Better to stick with the 90's 4.0l Jeeps or larger newer Jeeps, like the Grand Cherokee, Gladiator, Wrangler, and the new upcoming Grand/ Wagoneer.
@@PavelNr1 Actually that is what they do. French cars in general are almost purely about Design and Inovation. They do not use their resources to make cars that are easy to work on, or that are reliable.
