You overlooked the TJ entirely, the first Wrangler that was coil spring suspension instead of the traditional flat leaf spring. And became the basis for all the newer Wranglers.

It was, but we wouldn't have the LJ without the TJ. They should have highlighted the TJ, and then plugged the LJ towards the end of that section.

The xj was the first unibody 4x4 SUV produced that's what really is unique about it and they completely missed this. It was made by AMC the zj was actually an AMC design not Chrysler but AMC sold the Jeep name to Daimler Chrysler before putting it to market the zj was a huge success and it was argued that had AMC waited to market the zj before selling the Jeep name that they would have survived longer.

I picked up a mint 2004 LJ last October for $9,000. Some people definitely think they're worth more than they are, but I was happy to find that one at a reasonable price. 148k miles, completely bone stock, which is even harder to find. Bought it from an older guy that had only used it on fire roads and light, light offroading and without a single spot of rust. Love the thing.

Bought my friend’s wife’s 2004 LJ in 2018 with 32,000 miles for $4,000. Brought it back to NC from Long Island no rust. Was originally purchased in Florida where they had it for 6 years then on LI for 8. Great vehicle other than regular maintenance when the serpentine belt went one of the pulleys had to be replaced. Change the oil every 4,000 miles myself with conventional and did my own tuneup.

Hey d981 you made my day with that comment. Should almost have been on the FBI 10 most wanted for two other purchases. In 2005 my supervisor at work was buying his wife a Jeep Cherokee and needed to get rid of her 1998 Accord. It was a 4cyl with a 5 speed manual. Mostly highway miles since several times a year she drove from NC to Alabama. He wanted $5,000 but I went on Edmunds and gave him $5,300 because that’s what it was worth and I loved it. Religiously kept up on the maintenance and by February of 2018 it had 285,000 on it and was still purring like a kitten. Then on Valentine’s Day on my way to work I was T-Boned by a construction vehicle which went through a red light. I was unhurt but my ride was totaled. Then in August of 2021 my best friend from HS was moving from LI to Denver his 89 year old dad was giving up his license and moving to Georgia to live with his older son. I had told my friend if his dad ever wanted to get rid of his car to let me know. His dad had a 2001 Honda Accord. The car was the same color as my 98 silver, 4 doors, 4 cyl, automatic instead of a 5 speed and had 82,000 on it. The book value was $2,100 so I flew up to LI and stayed with my friend for 3 days. For 3 days I tried to get him to accept a check for the $2,100. He refused and said you’re like my 3rd son ever since 1972 you cannot pay me for it. Finally his dad said to me if this will shut you up just buy me a nice bottle of rum. Went to a large liquor store in Farmingdale bought their best bottle of rum for $55 and the cars was mine. Still driving it now with 92,000 on it and loving it. So my advice to you before I’m in the penitentiary if you have family or friends who take care of their vehicles lang the seed in their minds that if they eventually want to get rid of their well cared vehicles you’ll be there to scoop it up! Take care and thanks for the smile you put on my face with your comment!

I love the CJ Jeeps. (I've heard about the scandal about Jeeps being too easy to flip over. While I'm sure it can happen if you're reckless in how you drive, I've never seen it happen, nor have I seen the result of a roll-over accident.) I also love the SJ Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. CJ7. Best Jeep ever (outside the WW2 Jeeps, of course). The CJ7 was the essential version that continues to be modeled after. Everything from that point forward is a tweak on the “7”. Hence, it being the number 2.
The true test? When you see one on the road... you can’t look away. It nailed all aspects of what is Jeep.
    1. That center dial (the insides of every other Jeep after it is just “blah” plastic that will never stand the test of time)
    2. The curved fenders and bubbly round headlights on an otherwise boxy template, Mac truck hood with that fun v style shape, half back seats, bubbly blinkers, side rear marker lights, etc.
    3. Ease of repair so the average Joe can enjoy his vehicle repair.
    4. Simplicity of the old being wonderfully celebrated as we ushered in the age of the space shuttle.
    The “7”... number 2.

My toy, with 88,xxx original miles was purchased from an old rancher who was shutting down operations in north Texas for the princely sum of $750. A rebuilt engine, and various other 'fixes' brought the price spent up to about $3,200. It's beautiful However, if I were to do it today, at the young age of 74, I'd probably go for the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee with the 4.0. I once had a 1995 YJ with the 4.0 and indeed it was bullet proof! Love that Jeep but a work injury with Uncle Sam left my wife unable to climb up into the Wrangler. Then I sold it for more than it cost me and I'd purchased it from an Air Force chaplain who found out he would have to leave it undriven in a storage lot for a year. With everything on it refreshed on the drivetrain and only 7,800 original miles on the clock $5,000 wasn't a bad deal.

Grew up in a ‘96 XJ Country. It caused me to fall in love with Jeeps all these years later. That thing ran until the alternator went out and we decided to not replace it. As an adult, it caused me to purchase a ‘13 Patriot Latitude as my first Jeep, and now a ‘17 Renegade TH that I’m in love with 🥰🥰🥰

Number 1 important Jeep is the Bantam Reconnaissance Car (BRC). That was the prototype that started the entire history of Jeep. Without it, there wouldn't have been any Willys, CJ's, YJ's, TJ's, Any J's!!! Unfortunately, the Bantam car company and the BRC rarely gets the recognition that's deserved.

I would have picked one that wasn't listed under the grand Cherokee tab and that's the Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9 limited it was one of the biggest send offs to the the jeep grand Cherokee , it marked a new era with an old car . In 1998 the jeep grand Cherokee chasey was coming to an end so what they did was make a limited run of jeep grand Cherokee called the 5.9 limited were they took the best of the best and put it in one car . Including sun roof , heated seats ,power seats and much more. But that wasn't its party piece . What was most iconic was the jeeps 5.9 liter v8. This massive motor took this car to the history books making it the Fastest SUV in 1998 in the world . I really hope you read this and can possibly make a video about it also sorry the comment is so long. Also was part of the zj class

Has an over drive installed so it can hit 55 mph with low rpms to get me to trails and back roads a few miles away. I looked into a Roxor but they wasn't road legal. A nice rare local find, I'm enjoying the Jeep thing.

@Rusty Climber They made it illegal in most states to ride in back of a pickup, but I sure remember those days being a lot better than these days. Why penalize the many enjoying themselves for the few who might not be cautious enough. Unless the cj had something else defective to cause it to flip outside of human error, It's common sense that something high and narrow with a short wheel base will easily flip. The CJ was never defective like the Ford Explores with Goodyear tires, and consumer reports nearly put Suzuki out of business (on rigged testing) I'd rather use my own discretion and common sense than listen to blow hard with bias fake testing that no vehicle could pass.

Don't hate on me but I'd say that the Grand Cherokee WK2 is the most important GC for many reasons:
    1. Big Volume seller.
    2. Introduced Jeep to the luxury market with the high end trims.
    3. Performance jeep in the SRT and trackhawk trims.
    4. Off road oriented packages that are super capable and it's own trail hawk trim.
    5. Great towing capacities for its size.
    6. 3 DIFFERENT V8 OPTIONS BABY.
    7. As long as reliability, I owned a 2012 HEMI until 2018 and she only needed oil and new tires, I sold it because I moved from Venezuela to the States but I've been thinking about buying another one or getting a Wrangler

Pretty good Jeep run down. The Cherokee from 1984 through 2001 is one of my favorites.
However, the XJ series is the 2nd (not the first) generation Cherokee. The first generation Cherokee was based on the Wagoneer from 1974 through 1983. First it was a 2-door then, in 1977, a 4-door was added to the line.
