going whole food vegan has been the best decision I have made for my health, animals, and planet. I truly recommend people try it out at least! Eat lots of fruits and veggies instead of meat replacements. there are plenty of yummy plant based recipes you can find online :)

I read the kind diet by Alicia Silverstone in June 2010 and immediately went from pescatarian to vegan. I did it for the animals but the benefits to my health and the environment are amazing! Thanks Alicia for finally getting me to care and try. Almost 12 years now and I feel great.

Being plant based isn't that hard to be honest. It's quite easy especially nowadays and not strict at all. I mean you could be drinking soda and certain type of dorritos all day long or eating tons of Pasta and that would be vegan (not that I recommend that LOL) Avoiding sugar on a plant based diet is a bit trickier though I must say.

Honestly don’t feel like eating plant-based is “strict”. You just have to learn what to eat to get the right nutrients, and then eat it🙌🏽 Pretty easy thing to do and helps the animals and the environment so much🙌🏽

I adopted the vegan lifestyle almost 3 years ago and it is truly the best thing I have ever done. Initially, it was to see if it would help me get rid of an issue I was having with getting food stuck in my esophagus (caused by acid reflux) sometimes 3 times a week and since going vegan, I no longer have that problem. I have since made the emotional connection to the animals and our planet which makes the lifestyle super easy to stick to. There is no going back for me.
I hate how this video is titled “strict vegan diet” when it’s literally her describing being relaxed about letting her kid eat “normal/unhealthy” foods and being kind to people from all walks of life. Doesn’t sound strict to me.
Sonia Rivera it's very difficult not to. I'm back living with my parents and they eat meat at every meal. It makes me said because my dad has type 2 diabetes and lots of heart problems. I know he could reverse a lot of the problems that he has but he's so deeply addicted to animal products that he'd never be willing to hear the truth.
But if you are already vegan: Stay clear of earthlings. If your compassion is already high enough it will only unnecessarily hurt you to see all the cruelty.

@@oneminutein2639 I think it is really hard to imagine what really goes on in peoples minds when they turn away from veganism. It's often even hard to know why they became vegans in the first place. Or if they were vegan after all. Not blaming any particular person, but it would be very easy to generate vegan content for youtube and then go to a steak house. You can even visit vegan conventions and then drive home and stop at a McDrive. And from what I know about human psychology it is not unlikely that many vegan bloggers lied for the fame and the money they made. Or they didn't lie about their veganism, but fame and money were the real motives. It is even possible that they lied to themselves (or were unaware of their real subconcious motives). It is very likely that you met several characters that would do such things in real life. And it is way more likely that you meet them on youtube, because it is their natural habitat. Think about it: The first ex-vegan videos from vegan-bloggers were all over the place. Vegans, anti-vegans and non-vegans watched and discussed them. And all the sudden within weeks so many made the same decission? After years of vegan content? Coincident? Maybe in some cases. Again: Not saying that this is true in all cases. Not blaming a particular person. But I really think this is part of the problem of the ex-vegan-movement. And at some point we will even see people that pretend to be vegan for a couple of month and then go back just to hurt the movement. And therefore I doubt that Earthlings will change a lot in most cases of ex-veganism.
@@Chiungalla79 I think a lot of the ex-vegans on UA-cam are suffering from eating disorders. They went vegan because they viewed it as a dietary trend rather than a philosophy by which to live. A lot of them seemed to be chronically under-eating and drastically restricting (all raw, no processed EVER, excessive fasting, etc.) and so when they inevitably don't feel 100% because of the restrictions and malnourishment, they are apt to blame veganism and switch to a different type of controlled diet (like Raw Alignment with her new Carnivore diet). This got long, but my point is just that I agree ethical arguments may not sway their opinion. They need to focus on healing from disordered eating (which can totally be done while vegan) or they will keep bouncing around to different diets.
@@kelseydiastra487 At least that is one plausible explanation. Another one is that they don't have an eating disorder. With youtube in the picture it could easily be an attention seeking disorder. If you want attention you can't just eat healthy whole food plant based diet 365-366 days a year. How many views and videos will that give you? You need to mix it up a little. Either they started out as honest vegans, or they just jumped on the bandwaggon. Either way they dicided to go out with a bang by turning on the movement and grapping even more attention in this way.
I just love Alicia, and not just because she chooses to not Eat Animals, like me! We can all survive without Eating Animals! Just make sure you take at least 1,000 % of B-12 daily, it replaces the need for an Animal to in-voluntarily donate it's life for Umann Consumption!
I think it's also important at a certain age and also barring serious allergies and stuff...that a kid eventually learns what they are supposed to eat, why, and how to slip in a birthday party cupcake without totally derailing your health. It's kind of like immunity in that regard...if you learn how to eat tiny amounts of junk then you can participate socially, get a little thrill and still practice self control. Also how to keep your principles and rules intact if you eat differently because it could be really important to do that...but without coming off confrontational or extra in any way. That doesn't ever really feel right to the child either so I'm sure they want these things to go well socially.

This lady is out to lunch, and is super lucky alicia is so composed because vegans are hardcore and alicia did a good job letting that roll off her shoulder. Like if you’re talking to someone who’s been vegan for 20 years, it’s basically a religion at that point, and it’s like insulting whatever God someone worships. “Oh, you honor Jesus? That’s so funny I was just burning a cross in my backyard!!” It’d be wise to tread carefully with your own animal eating, animal wearing ways when approaching a strict vegan. The same applies to anyone who is extremely passionate and devoted to a certain topic or practice.
I'm more of an ethical vegan, but I do like her approach in her activism (if you want to call it that) - calm, peaceful, and regarding health. I feel like she can reach many people who otherwise wouldn't go vegan when confronted with slaughterhouse footage and/or environmental facts.

Veganism is not the same thing as Vegan. Vegetarians can still get fat soluble vitamins from eggs and milk, some from fish. But vegans don't so they eventually drop out all 100% of them or they cheat and don't admit it because its physically impossible for us to create some nutrients in our bodies.
She's an inspiration! I'm sure it stops her from having food reactions too. I love my meat and chocolate and wish I could have limitations like her at times. Lol I'm petite but tend to gain weight in my thighs a lot now and it gets swollen with the humidity and salt intake as I get older. Does anyone else have that problem with salt? I'm not sure if I'm allergic as I can't have too much dairy either from being lactose intolerant.

@@Chiungalla79 You're right. I don't need to watch Earthlings because I'm already aware of everything the animals are going through, and I already made the decision to go vegan. Sometimes, though, as we've seen on UA-cam recently (Tim Shieff, Bonny Rebecca), people slowly lose sight of why they went vegan in the first place. At times like this, watching Earthlings would be highly advised to remind yourself.

I think it is really hard to imagine what really goes on in peoples minds when they turn away from veganism. It's often even hard to know why they became vegans in the first place. Or if they were vegan after all.
Not blaming any particular person, but it would be very easy to generate vegan content for youtube and then go to a steak house. You can even visit vegan conventions and then drive home and stop at a McDrive.
And from what I know about human psychology it is not unlikely that many vegan bloggers lied for the fame and the money they made. Or they didn't lie about their veganism, but fame and money were the real motives. It is even possible that they lied to themselves (or were unaware of their real subconcious motives).
It is very likely that you met several characters that would do such things in real life. And it is way more likely that you meet them on youtube, because it is their natural habitat.
Think about it: The first ex-vegan videos from vegan-bloggers were all over the place. Vegans, anti-vegans and non-vegans watched and discussed them. And all the sudden within weeks so many made the same decission? After years of vegan content? Coincident? Maybe in some cases.
Again: Not saying that this is true in all cases. Not blaming a particular person. But I really think this is part of the problem of the ex-vegan-movement.
And at some point we will even see people that pretend to be vegan for a couple of month and then go back just to hurt the movement.
And therefore I doubt that Earthlings will change a lot in most cases of ex-veganism.
@@Chiungalla79 I think a lot of the ex-vegans on UA-cam are suffering from eating disorders. They went vegan because they viewed it as a dietary trend rather than a philosophy by which to live. A lot of them seemed to be chronically under-eating and drastically restricting (all raw, no processed EVER, excessive fasting, etc.) and so when they inevitably don't feel 100% because of the restrictions and malnourishment, they are apt to blame veganism and switch to a different type of controlled diet (like Raw Alignment with her new Carnivore diet). This got long, but my point is just that I agree ethical arguments may not sway their opinion. They need to focus on healing from disordered eating (which can totally be done while vegan) or they will keep bouncing around to different diets.

At least that is one plausible explanation.
Another one is that they don't have an eating disorder. With youtube in the picture it could easily be an attention seeking disorder. If you want attention you can't just eat healthy whole food plant based diet 365-366 days a year. How many views and videos will that give you? You need to mix it up a little.
Either they started out as honest vegans, or they just jumped on the bandwaggon.
Either way they dicided to go out with a bang by turning on the movement and grapping even more attention in this way.

I think it's also important at a certain age and also barring serious allergies and stuff...that a kid eventually learns what they are supposed to eat, why, and how to slip in a birthday party cupcake without totally derailing your health. It's kind of like immunity in that regard...if you learn how to eat tiny amounts of junk then you can participate socially, get a little thrill and still practice self control. Also how to keep your principles and rules intact if you eat differently because it could be really important to do that...but without coming off confrontational or extra in any way. That doesn't ever really feel right to the child either so I'm sure they want these things to go well socially.

How cringe is this lady throwing all her animal death insensitivity in Alicia’s face in the beginning of this interview- who starts out a conversation like this??? This lady is out to lunch, and is super lucky alicia is so composed because vegans are hardcore and alicia did a good job letting that roll off her shoulder. Like if you’re talking to someone who’s been vegan for 20 years, it’s basically a religion at that point, and it’s like insulting whatever God someone worships. “Oh, you honor Jesus? That’s so funny I was just burning a cross in my backyard!!”
It’d be wise to tread carefully with your own animal eating, animal wearing ways when approaching a strict vegan. The same applies to anyone who is extremely passionate and devoted to a certain topic or practice.

I'm more of an ethical vegan, but I do like her approach in her activism (if you want to call it that) - calm, peaceful, and regarding health. I feel like she can reach many people who otherwise wouldn't go vegan when confronted with slaughterhouse footage and/or environmental facts.

Except for certain allergies or health issues I believe you eat what you are given from day 1. if parents give babies and toddlers fruits and veggies from the start, kids wont be addicted to chicken nuggets, hot dogs ect. That junk is not even real food and has very little to offer as far as nutrients go. make the change! feed your family fresh foods if possible.

Veganism is not the same thing as Vegan. Vegetarians can still get fat soluble vitamins from eggs and milk, some from fish. But vegans don't so they eventually drop out all 100% of them or they cheat and don't admit it because its physically impossible for us to create some nutrients in our bodies.

She's an inspiration! I'm sure it stops her from having food reactions too. I love my meat and chocolate and wish I could have limitations like her at times. Lol I'm petite but tend to gain weight in my thighs a lot now and it gets swollen with the humidity and salt intake as I get older. Does anyone else have that problem with salt? I'm not sure if I'm allergic as I can't have too much dairy either from being lactose intolerant.
