I had one of these many years, exactly the same model as the one featured here, using Rega RB300 tonearm and I think a Goldring cartridge. It was an excellent turntable. I had no troube at all with bearings, suspension, it was a pleasure to listen to. The only mod I did was to lose the felt mat and replace with a cork mat, I don't think it made any difference.
i found it easier installing an XA spring kit because this one I purchased for my ES-1 table has shorter studs...once installed the tonearm spring needs to be tightened up almost halfway the other two almost to the end resulting in a tbar that never centers in the cutout...it sits to one side or other..im still experimenting...it sat fine with the old springs
Hi, many people uses linn springs to replace the springs, are those springs differents ( I'm guessing these are from Merrill, you also sell high duty springs on your website. I suppose you would use them for mounting a Sme V on a heavier turntable like td-126/127 or something like that? Anyway thank you for this very informative video!!!

My belt comes off on my AR turntable when on 45 RMP. Any suggestions?
How much of an improvement did this make ?
That was as much use as an ashtray on a motorcycle - I really need to see how you balance the plinth.

Can you still get parts for theses turntables? Can theses decks, if fitted can they sound as good as linn
The platter bearing on this was poor quality, that should have been addressed first.
The Merrill Chassis installed in this video has its own bearing.
