I just finished one of these and am starting on a second. They are simple but sound great! I'm glad you found the ball bearing that the tone arm sits on. Can't wait to see more of this restoration.

Thanks! Picked up an XB for a really smoking price as well BUT it’s in worse shape. I hope to get these going soon.

good to see I am not the only one who has trouble getting a cartridge into a headshell. Cheers

Hell of a find. I'm lucky to find a Fisher, not even a Crosley.

Well technically "I" didn't find it at a Goodwill/Thrift/Garage sale, but someone did :) The gentleman was buying up electronic equipment over the past 20 years until his passing. Most looked like it was purchased around the year 2000.

After watching a bunch of your videos (brought to your channel via the Phillips 212 segments) fixing vintage Goodwill finds I must conclude you have one of the best Goodwill stores in the nation. Electronics are a non-existent category in any of my nearby Goodwill/Salvation Army and the like stores. You want fishing gear? I got you covered. Vintage electronics? What is that?

Haha…well at one time. These came out of a storage unit…the gent was buying up all sorts of gear in the early 2000s. A lot of these had price tags, the receipts, or prices drawn on them.

They sell for around $450 now. I bought mine in 1977 and I still have the original box that it came in.

Sweet...I still have the carcasses of an XA, an XB, and an XB that I have yet to service. I have another XB that I did repair - videos are in the queue for that one.

I reworked a sansui and a Pioneer that had foam blocks inside the springs that rot away. Replaced with medium density gray foam. It'll work.

Spring kit is supposed to come this week. I'll be damping with Magic Eraser...Part 2/3 are in the queue.

Just about to embark on restoring my 1961 AR-XA. Thankfully it’s in working order and much better shape than this one. Mostly cosmetic issues, but I’ll upgrade the wiring, replace the caps, and go with a detachable power cord. Springs seem ok.

Would love to hear how it goes. I'm so deep in other repairs that the ARs aren't quite on my 'scope' yet :)
