Metallica was/is a Toxic Waste Dump. Their Music Rocks but the 3 personalities of Kirk,James and Lars are just to many peaks and lows. Like a Rollercoaster. They weren't shy about the constant hazing and belittlement of Jason too satisfy their own pain and internal problems. They dont F with Trujillo because he is big enough too crack all their skulls and He dont play like that.
Jason inspired me to pick up the bass and I've been playing for 30+ years. We all know the talent Cliff was and what he was all about. Rob Trujillo is one of my favorite bassists as I really loved Suicidal Tendencies and when Rob came in the band he was something else. And I became even a bigger Robert fan with Infectious Grooves. However, as far as a better fit for Metallica, I believe Jason is the guy. He brought something special to the band & really made the shows extra fun with his limitless enthusiasm & energy. I had meet n greet passes (for after the show) for Metallica at Madison Square Garden. We were waiting along with the other people for the band to decompress & come out for the actual meet n greet. Jason ended up being the only member that came out. He was kind & patient and signed autographs and let us all get a picture with him. Jason was a Metallica fan first, then a member. I wish he was still in Metallica, cheers!

Jason has been my idol since I was 13. I was lucky to meet them both at their art show opening on 1.19.23 and went to his concert on 2.10.23. Super awesome humans they both are🤘
Jason is such a good dude man, I know it’s trendy for some people to shit all over the guy for shit that he didn’t have any say so win but when he was in Metallica, he kept the cool factor going. He always gave it all in every life performance, and he always treated the fans with respect. I never understood why so many people wanted to blame him, the guy who wasn’t allowed to write any music for the direction Metallica went with load and reload. I hated it when he left Metallica, I think Rob is great and I think there are two different bass players and I love Rob if we can’t have Jason I’m glad Rob is there, but I do wish you could’ve stayed with the band, but after the truth came out, I completely understood why he did it. He could’ve stayed in the band and felt like he wasn’t valued or he could’ve left forcing them to acknowledge how important he was. It sucks that that’s what it took for them to realize how much they valued him.

Imagine James and Lars doing something with Jason, Dave and Fleming Rasmussen. More old-school, recorded on analog tape, gear from back in the day, all the stuff like that, and also with Dave and Jason doing backing vocals. It'd be such a treat to see them bury the battle axe once and for all and end Metallica of at something different than what they've done for the past 15 years. If the albums artwork is all done by James and Jason as well, I'd be even cooler, contributing to that DIY-feel
Any conflict between the two parties ended years ago, they've done stuff together at events several times since including Hall of Fame and the 30th anniversary shows
He has always come across as a little nervous - always over explaining things - I don't think he's got world class songwriting skills - he can write a good riff and play a great bass live, but songwriting - no. I think that's always been his Achilles heel. He's a very lucky man - most profile thrash bassists back in 1986 could have done the job.
