Women in the 80's and early 90's were not worried about getting dragged, beaten and sexually assaulted by some homeless or any other thug and they were able to at least walk in groups of two or three from parking lot to cars, nowadays even that's dangerous.

There was still girls flashing boobs all over Havesu, San Diego college students going wild in Rosarito (so easy to hook up) I remember a girl getting eaten out on the bar top at Papas and Beer, and so many other slutty things, everywhere girls flashing 🤣. My señor trip to Mexico, so many girls flashing on the stage and foam party’s. I went to Europe in 2011 for my first time, then went 8 years later, and I could tell the entire world is changing- like it has more rules, less public nudity, less wild club experiences. On my first trip I bought MDMA from kids at the park around midnight in Berlin and took it in Prague. Just so many crazy things. There used to be way more public nudity in Europe, nudity in the parks, now there are rules forbidding nudity. We live in a different world now with more rules! And probably like op said, cell phones means everything can be posted on IG or some other media, so girls are less likely to flash their tits at a pool party in Cancun like they used to pre cell phone. Different times. I remember girls flashing at the local dive bars when they had little competitions, multiple times!!!! Different times, different world now.

I grew up in the Twin Cities. Club hopping in the 90”s was a blast. Very few cover charges, inexpensive drinks (girl working the $1 beer tub anyone?), tons of people having fun. Women were fun and willing to socialize without the attitude. I made a lot of new friends both male and female. Things started changing in the mid 2000’s. I think the internet, social media, and smart phones was the beginning of the decline and Covid was the death sentence.

Less females go out now a days because of social media. If you are an average looking female and wake up to 50-100 DMs a day or go live on a social media platform and get hit on by a thousand guys that send them money what does a female need to go out for? As a man, I stopped going to the club for this reasons:
    1. It's true, women just don't want to dance nor be approached. Well it seems like it due to their body language.
    2. Some dudes are just straight up creep or pervert. It got so bad that 2 dude tried to fight me, because I was pulling him away from their group of ladies who didn't want to dance with him. This guy kept going close to her and she was obviously uncomfortable. Like, go up and approach her. Ask her if she wants to dance and introduce yourself first.
    3. Drinks are expensive. If I go with group of 5, then I am buying them all drinks with a receipt of $70+ for the night
    4. People just don't dance that much anymore. There is a ton of hermits just maliciously staring at ladies to hunt them down. For me, I go dance and enjoy the night. If there's a lady whom I find attractive and she reciprocate the eye contact then I will introduce myself and even invite her to dance with me.
Overall, clubbing just isn't like how it used to be anymore. I still go to the Bar, because it is less chaotic and gave me more opportunity to just enjoy the vibe and possibly even meet new people without having crazy people hounding.

I used to go on blind dates and meet them at the clubs back in the mid 1990's. When one date asked what I would be wearing, I'd just tell them "Just look for the most beautiful one in the building and that will be me"... The guy sounded puzzled as we hung up the phone. Date night came and the club was packed, at exactly 11:00pm, he walked in the door, took a look around, eyes immediately looked at me and he walked over. His first words were "Daaaaammm, you weren't lying!!!!!".... A couple years later, I was out on a date at a club that was close to a military base with a very nice young man who was 4 years younger than me. A very good-looking tall muscular dark haired guy wearing camouflage with a few of his friends walked past me... Suddenly I hear a loud yell behind me "HOLY S-- She is F--- BEAUTIFUL!!!" He told my young date to scram and he did. He, and his friends, never took their eyes off me once....Today, we are both fat and old and he can't stand to look at me. Oh, but it's okay he knocked up 5 women here at the trailer park just because I screwed the cable guy! We are 3 months behind in lot rent and the trailer is starting to lean because half of it is sinking. He drinks up all the lot rent and brings other women from the trailer park over here to screw while I'm at work that's also why the trailer is leaning. Well, the jokes on him because I've been screwing the manager at the Piggly Wiggly across the street from the gas station where I work. He completed his rehab after prison and his momma left him a doublewide that's only splitting a little bit in another trailer park so he's a much better catch!

I live in NYC. I used to work as a promoter and door person at nightclubs,, in the late 90s early 2000s. But I have been clubbing in New York since the 70s-early 2000. The nightclubs in New York died mainly because of the expense. Bottle service killed the NYC nightclubs. Not to mention The Mayor back in the 90s. He made it very hard on club owners in NYC. I wish there was a way to clean up an environment without sterilizing it. But that’s sterilization led to dance clubs all over the city closing down. So People could dance anymore. because it was against the law. Or nightclubs could not get their cabaret licenses. Without playing mobster hula hoop games. Not to mention the cost of getting into a nightclub. It was mostly men that were having to pay to get into these nightclubs. Not to mention the men were expected also to buy women drinks once they got into the nightclub. So the men were going broke,, only to leave the club empty-handed. I’m not saying that just because a man buys a woman a drink,, she owes him anything. But it’s not a good feeling when a perfect stranger feels entitled to your money. Another thing that was a major problem,, is the maintenance, real estate and locations of the nightclub. Club owners had to pay more money for rent,, then they could be accumulating when the club was open. Which is probably why drinks were so expensive. Club owners would try every trick in the book,, to bring in more money. Including hiring independent promoters for certain nights of the week. But if you don’t get the women in the club,, the men will not come to the club. So clubs would open up, but closed twice as fast. But I think the people who run the city,, wanted the nightclub business to die out. They wanted to make those neighborhoods more residential. So to be fair,, No one wants to pay $2 million for an apartment (or paying some crazy rent) in Manhattan,, just to walk outside of their apartment and see literally hundreds of people online to get into a nightclub. Making all kinds of noise. Not to mention the occasional fights & police etc. So although the nightlife in NYC is on its last legs. The lounges in hotels lobbies are picking up. Not by much though. Nowhere close to the amount of people that used to go nightclubs throughout the 70s 80s 90s and early 2000s. Seen that people would prefer to sit at home,, play on the Internet, watch UA-cam videos, stream a movie or TV series,, rather than pay the crazy high prices for cabs/Ubers and drinks in a nightclub. Which is sad.

Comment is spot on. I’m 57 and miss the Paladium, Q-Club, Silver Shadow, The Underground, The World, Funhouse, The Garage, Webster Hall just to name a few. Those were the days bro. Women were nice and not too many idiots. Nowadays you gotta watch your back going and coming from a club in NYC. Way too many criminals are out there trying to either diss your lady or rob you. Now I stay home with my wife, Netflix, and a nice bottle and some take out. I retire in 6 weeks and moving to Nashville. Building a sick media room in our new house. That will be my weekend theater / club scene.

While it is true that nobody should feel obligated to give something sexually because someone else bought a drink for them. With that said, one of the reasons I went to the club's was always to meet a woman eventually for something romantic. So, after too many times no one would even talk to me and express interest in me at all. I just said "forget this". I don't think I was that bad looking either. Maybe they will learn one day as they get older that they will want someone in their life that cares about them rather than for the opinions of vain superficial strangers.

I stayed goin out in my early 20s , met hella good ppl and hella enjoyed myself dancing and having fun with the boys. Most nights it wasn't even about trying to pick up women in all honesty it was more about dancing & vibing with your boys. Since the age of the smart phones ppl really dont dance anymore and want to post for clout like they are really having a good time. I feel hella old going out but when i do, i go to dance salsa or bachata with my wife or i hit up the sports bar to watch my team play. Crazy to think i grew during the hyphy era in my early 20s and im now damn near 40 and the energy at these night spots are hella different from previous generations

Here in DC, there is a spot that charges 14 dollars for green tea shots and the green tea is premade. A jack and coke is now $15. I won’t even share the cost of an old fashion.
Dive bars are still affordable and tbh, every time we go to one of those, we enjoy those more. I’m a millennial so Covid came at the worst time for gen z to come of age. Bars, beer gardens, lounges, and clubs are not as frequented. Good reason why too. It’s expensive.

as someone who listen to electronic music, I think that raving is the future a lot of people. EDM has taken off like music and techno. And more people are going to festivals because you your moneys worth in experience. and also the community is really what keeps people there. Everyone everyone always wants to dance or exchange gifts or talk to each other or together and I sent a community is what’s really missing in the nightlife which is why I think it’s going down. The whole judgment free zone and production of going to raves festivals and electronic dance music really is the future, which is why I think so many people are starting to rave now . A lot of my friends of hip-hop and rap asked me about the shows that I go to and after I take them to hook because it’s almost like you’re stepping back to a reality of people loves each other and wanna dance with each other and actually talk when they go out and dance.

I concur with this. The one aspect of night life that has gotten cooler is EDM. Just go see A Van Buren, Above And Beyond, or one of the festivals like EDC and Tomorrowland. However they are not easy to get to for many of us. Like myself, I can't take an autistic child in single digits of age to one of these things. I think this video is talking about your typical establishment in a downtown setting.

I went to my first deadmou5 concert at the Avante Gardnr a few weeks ago which I consider to be my first EDM concert and the experience was indescribable. I felt so alive, but also kinda bummed that I’ve been missing out all these years on this type of scene. I’ve always wanted to go to a rave though. The hard part is knowing where to look and the logistics of getting there, since I live by the suburbs in NJ. I gotta agree about the changing nightlife scene in my area, but for different reasons. A couple years ago I used to go bar hopping and enjoying live music within walking distance, but I slowly but gradually noticed things started to change; crowds got smaller and smaller, it was almost always the same music, the vibe just got, bland, for a lack of a better term. I figured out that the Asbury Park area kinda took a large portion of people away and headed there to have fun for the next few years. While I had some fond memories, I too noticed that it just didn’t hit that same vibe and excitement as it once did. The hottest place to go, Porta, (which had two sections of dance floors for different genres) closed down one section. What once had long lines and full of excitement now only had fewer attendance. It was a surreal, sad thing to witness when I entered one night. As someone who still loves the nightlife, I can’t help but envy those who are able to go to the city during the nighttime. It looks like there’s always somewhere to go and something to do over there.

@@ezyglide0909 I figured that’s what happens when living in that part of Jersey. I live in Hudson county, so even if I don’t go out much it’s definitely mostly in the city. When it comes to edm concerts, your best bet is trying out the closest when next to you, even if you don’t know the artist too well.
