Annette was perfect for the role. Can you imagine Cynthia Ettinger playing Martha after unaired pilot? When John and Annette left the show it never was the same for me. Annette was underused in season 6.

First to comment! Just want to say that I love this show, and that Annette O’Tooles' Martha is by far my favorite. I'm glad that this show has found a resurgence in popularity with my peers, the teens of today. It reminds us of a simpler time, and gives us an authenticity that we can not often find in todays media ☺
Jonathon and Martha were hands down the best characters in the show. It's no coincidence that the show lost quality once they left
I don't think it did. I thought Jonathan was great but Martha was always awkward looking. The show didn't have a bad season.
Annette was and still is the BEST Martha Kent. I just started rewatching the show for the first time since I was a teen and I’m still impressed by the way Annette and Tom have such believable and heartwarming mother and son moments.
