SOLVED: 💔 Missing 24-year-old Jacob VanZant Found
    • SOLVED: 💔 Missing 24-y...
Day one plunges us into the depths of despair as we meet Joanna, Jacob's anguished mother, and Jessica, his devoted sister, who share their determination to find him. Jacob, 24 years old, went missing while on a mission to deliver sushi from a local restaurant in Lodi to his girlfriend in Stockton. The search begins at the last known cell phone ping, a bridge just east of the area.
Guided by Jared's expertise and aided by an unwavering community of family and friends, the search scours the treacherous waters, driven by the urgency to find Jacob. They explore the ferry crossing, a critical location due to its proximity to the road where a high-speed accident could lead to tragedy. The team discovers multiple submerged vehicles, meticulously diving into each one, hoping to unveil the answers they desperately seek.
    Day Two: Triumph Amidst Tragedy
Part two unfolds with a surge of anticipation as Jared's team zeroes in on the pivotal breakthrough. After extensive sonar scanning, they identify a vehicle of interest near the ferry crossing resembling Jacob's white Honda Pilot. With a mix of hope and trepidation, the divers navigate the depths, clinging to the possibility of closure for Jacob's family.
The moment of truth arrives as the wreckage of Jacob's vehicle is located, with its front gravely damaged. It becomes apparent that Jacob fought fiercely for survival, evidenced by the closed side windows and his valiant attempts to escape out the broken rear window. The tragic nature of the accident unfolds, revealing that Jacob's untimely demise was the result of a high-speed collision with the water and drunk driving.
With the absence of foul play, the docuseries delves into the intricate details of the recovery operation. Jared, alongside local authorities, ensures the utmost care and respect as Jacob's body is carefully extracted from the vehicle. The license plate, bearing the unique identifier 5JBC311, serves as a poignant reminder of Jacob's presence and the answer it brings to his grieving family.
Through candid interviews, raw emotions, and personal accounts, the docuseries provides an intimate look into the profound impact of Jacob's disappearance on his loved ones and the resilience they display during this unimaginable tragedy. It underscores the significance of community support, the unwavering pursuit of truth, and the healing power that comes with finding answers.
Unveiling the mystery in the search for Jacob stands as a testament to the enduring strength of family bonds and the extraordinary efforts made by compassionate individuals to bring solace to those left behind. Prepare to embark on an emotional journey filled with sorrow, hope, and the indomitable spirit of a family determined to find their lost loved one.

Based on our assessment and the family's perspective, it is believed that Jacob remained conscious when his vehicle plunged into the water. As the impact triggered the airbag and water began rushing through the broken front windshield, the side windows remained intact and could not be shattered nor could the doors be opened. In a desperate attempt to escape, Jacob swiftly maneuvered toward the broken rear window. However, he became entangled with the rear headrests, ultimately taking his last breath while halfway out of the vehicle. It is the shared belief that had Jacob possessed a Window Breaker to swiftly shatter a side window, he could have escaped within seconds instead of grappling with the challenge of traversing two rows of seats and exiting through the rear window. This poignant observation highlights the potential for a different outcome had the means for quick escape been readily available, leaving us to ponder the possibilities and the heartbreaking "what ifs."

I was watching a recovery from the Adventures with purpose partners "Chaos Divers." They were recovering possible suicide that was days, possibly one week old. Not sure if it was considered a suicide or not, but when they found said vehicle, it wasn't anything but a shiny glare on sonar. No part of it resembled a vehicle whatsoever. In Jacob's case, he and his vehicle were under water for several weeks. That glare that Jacob's vehicle made resembled something new to being underwater for a short period of time. Sonar reflected off a smooth surface.

Actually there is far worse ways to die and to be fair he's a diver so perhaps he was just being completely honest with stating that drowning would be his preferred way of passing. I don't think anybody wants to pass over suffering. Sadly as it is it would have only been minutes and he would have gasped for breath and his lungs filled with water, its really that quick... as opposed to someone slowly dying from cancer or dementia.

I dunno y'all. I heard that drowning while terrifying in the beginning only because of those survival instincts, becomes quite peaceful in the end. Like the last minute or so is peaceful, and you don't even feel it.
That's what I've read from people who have drowned but we're resuscitated. This one guy said suddenly the urge to breathe just went away and he was just aware of everything around him and the next thing he knew he was coughing up water on the shore and was way out of it.

    • @baychick
      @baychick 4 місяці тому +33

@@Vercingetorix.Fantasiawhile nobody wants to drown, what he was likely referring to is that multiple studies show that you will actually pass out before the actual drowning and coroners have found minimal stress to the body compared to other unnatural causes of death. Obviously the initial panic and survival instinct is there, but he wouldn’t have had much in the way of pain, he would’ve just passed out and it wouldn’t have lasted very long. Other than carbon monoxide poisoning when you go to sleep, it’s considered one of the fastest and most painless ways to die. I’m sure any comfort he could give to that mom in that moment, he reached for it.

I’m bawling my eyes out. The compassion and respect from Jared “let’s get you out of here buddy”, the police officers “WATCH HIS HEAD! Watch his head”, the heartbreak for his mom.
I lost my dad back in ‘91 when the coast guests ice breaker ran over his tug boat. His 2 crew died instantly, my dad drowned. I often wonder if he was conscious and knew what was happening. My doctor (also the local coroner) told me he wasn’t but I’ve never been sure if he just told me what would make it easier for me. My dad’s biggest fear was to drown.

She will grieve for her son forever but at least she knows he did not choose to end his life and tried to escape. The not knowing if he was alive would be worse than knowing how he died. Kudos to the police for the respect they showed in recovering Jacob as well. Excellent job everyone! Honestly, yes, if the family says it's okay to use the sonar image. If common sense won't stop people from drunk driving, then maybe fear will.
It's really such a shame because this was 100% avoidable. He could've not drove, or asked someone else to drive him, or he could've not drank. Not only did he lose everything because of a stupid mistake, but his actions have caused irreversible damage to his family and friends. Ah, but hindsight is always 20/20.

My condolences for the loss of your Mother. 💔 J lost my Mommy when I was only 5. Barely remember here only knowing that she was ALWAYS so loving & kind! Telling my so-called “father” to not hit us. To stop yelling at us when we were little. 😔 I miss her so very much & til’ this very day I still am the only one that really visits her grave & it still doesn’t have a headstone. 💔 This “former Father” doesn’t care to buy one. He doesn’t want to talk to me either. Calling me retarded, stupid, scum of earth, etc. Because I’m now disabled from a drunk driver that hit my own family’s van & gave me epilepsy. I still saved lives after that being a graduate w/ academic honors in medical field. I helped anyone in vehicle accidents. Also in hospital J saved a man’s life when a violent patient punched him on his head & gave him a large contusion on his right temporal lobe. He couldn’t stay awake! Tried knocking on nurses windows telling them to send patient to ER STAT; that patient is losing consciousness & he’s no longer coherent. They yelled at me. Telling me to shut up & leave them alone. I had to take care of him w/ ice & a washcloth. Trying to make do w/ what was available. Told them I’ll report them when I’ll be sent home. I helped many of patients there including the M.A’s. The patients started to believe in life and the M.A’s wanted to hire me. The psychologist didn’t understand why I was there and said he was sending me home. I said Apparently God sent me here for a reason. To help others. I lost 4 lbs. being there for 3 days. I’d starved because they’d not given me insulin. (Being type 1 diabetic!) I couldn’t eat. I only drank water & my glucose levels were really high!! They neglected to give me insulin! Even refused to give me long acting insulin necessary for type 1 diabetics. I said I’d report them and each day I awoke I’d go and help the individual w/ the injury on his skull. He was getting worse. I was having to go home but he was hard to understand because of his surgery 2x’s in past from lung cancer from smoking. Had hole in his throat. I still helped him w/ injury. Kept him awake and helped him w/ his injury. I told him to stay conscious and told him I must leave now but that I promise I’m going to have him sent to the ER. That I will report the staff that did us all wrong as well. To continue to believe in God and pray. He thanked me and hugged me. The other patients I had said goodbye to I hugged each of them and they were all crying begging me not to go. I had tears in my eyes. Telling them to be strong and remember what I sung to them about God. To believe that Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem and that God is with you always. Pray and hold your head up! That I love them! Be strong! Even the Medical Staff I helped out were sad to see me go. I hugged them all. Told them I’ll think about coming back to work there. (I don’t know…my grandma & Uncle died at that hospital.) It’s a bad hospital. As you can tell. I will have to make changes to their treatment of patients and medical care demand they make changes! Which Will get me fired. Lol. Anyhow beautiful work that is done…it brought me to tears!!! I am glad they took care of recovering so many people and Jacob’s body as well. I was in tears. Hard to watch this. At least there is closure. He’s always going to be visiting his loved ones and always watching from Heaven above. 🥲🙏🕊️🤍

I've answered that call before. My brother and two of his friends were speeding down a country road. They lost control and went tumbling through the woods. A tree split the car in half; Which ejected one of our friends on impact. Our friend miraculously survived after a week long coma. My brother and our other friend died instantly. The accident happened the night before my birthday. I woke up to a call that my brother was identified as one of the passengers. He was 25

While it's heartbreaking to think about his final moments, it's important to understand that, in the end, drowning becomes a peaceful process.
He would have experienced a rush of adrenaline and likely panic while trying to escape. The initial discomfort comes from the body's instinct to inhale for oxygen, causing a quick intake of water. This sensation is similar to accidentally swallowing liquid down the wrong pipe-intense but very brief, lasting just a second or so. After that, it becomes painless, and he would have remained conscious for a short time before drifting into unconsciousness.
His discomfort was short-lived, and he would have quickly moved into a state of unconsciousness. I share this with the hope of offering some comfort. Speaking from experience, I work for an ocean rescue charity in the UK.

I was stuck underwater to near drowning, at first it's mostly confusion you can hear the water and feel the bubbles all around you, can't till which way is up. The feeling that weight on top of you is truly the most terrifying thing I've ever experienced, there's this helplessness and dread that sets deep within you. No matter how hard you try you can't get out. You don't even have time to think of what to do next. I remember thrashing around and then I stopped for whatever reason. I believe I was pulled out by two men, I remember that calm feeling too, right before one of them grabbed me by the back of my swimwear and started to pull me to the surface. I was diagnosed with PTSD after the incident, it's been 15 years. I was 6 maybe 7 then. The second time I went to a river with my cousin. 12, Summer break. College kids were tubing down the river, we were off of a little drop and to the other side kids were diving off of a ledge. I was holding onto a rock with my body partially submerged. The current was strong but since I was older I had a good grip. My little cousin unexpectedly jumped in, he couldn't swim. My aunt couldn't reach us in time. I don't know what I was thinking. I remember seeing his little body being swept away and I just let go of the rock. I don't know how I found him. Once I did I realized everytime I came up for air I was pushing him under the surface of the water. So I lifted his body as high as I could. I was completely under. I managed to get his legs over my shoulders and I just kept holding him up. I don't remember being afraid in those moments, I just wanted my cousin to be safe. A kid from highschool who was jumping off the ledge saw us. He was able to jump down and swim to us, pulling us to a shallow part of the river. I don't think I got air until he got us to that spot. Don't know what happened to that kid after that.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t drink, even though drinking alcohol isn’t a healthy activity anyway, but if you’re drinking, call an Uber, call a cab, ask a friend who didn’t drink to drive you home, hell, walk home if it’s safe to do that. Honestly there aren't even words to describe Jared and his entire team at awp. His whole demeanor is is so kind and comforting. It's beyond what you just see on his videos. Off camera he is the kindest, most gentle and respectful person you will ever meet. He is exactly the person needed for the job he does. He handled Jacob with the utmost dignity and respect as he did also with Jacobs mother and family. He pulls no punches. He doesn't claim to do anything he can't do, he is straight to the point. He is humble yet so confident and reassuring you can't help but feel an overwhelming sense of trust in him. Unfortunately in these situations you don't always feel like people are doing what the should be doing or not doing things as fast as you would like. Not that it really is that way but when your looking for a loved one it feels that way. But as soon as you meet Jared you know someone is going to be doing everything they can and you can breathe a sigh of relief. He was just simply amazing and can never be thanked enough. He's a very special individual and a god send to many people and a gift. I don't think he even knows the impact he has on all the people he meets. But there is a whole collective of people to thank that played a huge role in locating and the recovery of Jacob. His mother had a wonderful support team that wasn't going to give up untill we found him. Her sister, her best friend Sally, her family, Jacobs father and his wife, myself, Jacobs co workers, his girlfriend and her father, Mr Coffey and several other friends. The how's and why's aren't the most important things right now. Bringing Jacob home was the most important thing and thanks to Jared and his team from awp and Joanna and her team, we did just that. Please be respectful in your comments and remember his family reads these as well. Thank each and everyone of you for all your kind words and comments.

The compassion and care they take while removing the people and vehicles is amazing. What they do, for free, to help families find their loved ones is so kind. It must be hard on everyone in the crew to see these people in their cars knowing what their last moments were like. Thank you for bringing answers to so many families and returning their loved ones back to them.

Jared, you are simply the absolute best at what you do not just in the technical skills of sonar, rigging, diving, and towing but also the compassionate way you handle these situations. That must have been extremely difficult

As a disabled Vietnam Vet I have followed these guys for a long time but this is one of the hardest ones I have watched. They have been near to me here in East Tn and all the way back home in Oregon. I'm not a rich man but if I were they would get a hefty donation. For now, I would ask anyone who can to make a donation or just a prayer to aid them. I know it breaks Jared's heart but he and the others are providing a service to us all that before either did not exist or cost a fortune. God Bless AdventuresWithPurpose.

This whole episode had me on the verge of tears. Seeing him on sonar - knowing he almost made it, his mom - my heart hurts for her anyway but the knowing she's wondering how much he suffered -as a mom it would have been easier to know he was unconscious and didn't feel a thing (wondering how much my son felt in his crash nearly drove me insane), then the officers "watch his head" and when you see the destruction of the front of the car - the impact it took hitting the water..
They have his remains now, they can lay him to rest, but this was just heartbreaking. I just wanted to wrap my arms around his mom sitting there by herself. Couldn't someone sit there and hold her while her world imploded? Even knowing it was a possibility doesn't prepare a parent for the reality. And she faced it alone. Sitting, looking the other way, hearing everything, knowing she couldn't even see him or hold him when they gave him back. Just alone. Playing through his last minutes, picturing him fighting for his life, alone and scared. She needed someone there for her.

I agree knowing that he fought so hard to get back to them, I think, would make a huge difference. However, as a mother my heart breaks for her, and I hope she never watches this, because this isn't my child but it was hard to watch unfortunately I don't feel like the "blur" did enough. He was still mostly clearly visible to me. After you become a mother anytime a mom loses her child no matter what age they are, mothers hearts break around the world for that momma. May she feel a little comfort in being able to bring him home and lay him to rest. Rest in Heaven Jacob. My prayers to the family.

It's really tragic. The sonar image shows Jacob struggling to escape, tangled between the rear headrests. Cold water significantly reduces breath-holding time because your body needs more oxygen to cope with the cold. It's heartbreaking that he got entangled and, for some reason, didn't use the window breaker on the driver's side. He might have made it out if he had.

@@N0pr0fit Eh, it depends on how you view a God, Gods for the most part, don't interfere with mortal affairs.
Like, even if you read Greek, Roman, and Norse myths about the gods, interfering in mortal affairs was a BIG deal. It was pretty heavily frowned upon.
Within the context of the Christian God, he vowed not to directly interfere after the flood in the old testament, because his actions never made things better, or worse.
Which, honestly, not interfering is better than interfering, because if a god interferes, the whole "free will" thing goes away and shit likely hits the fan.
