JLOC sounds like the epitome of "Win or lose, we're here to race and have fun with the cars we love."
didnt jloc also do the murcielago r gt
It also sounds like the epitome of *Japanese money from a mystery source*, which has funded many a wild project and laundered many a yen.
@@mediumsizedcalJapanese money from mystery source 😂😂😂
This is an underdog story that i wished had a happy ending, or as mildly succesful as goodsmile racing is nowadays, since the diablo GT is my favorite car.
Me, Nozomi Tojo, and Mayu Sagara also love this JLOC Diablo GT bro! Absolutely quick and glad that the NOMAD LAMBORGHINI GT500 appears in GT2 PROJECT A SPEC MOD.
How? Why?
@@miskatonic6210ooooo i’ll oloo ok
Ah the Diablo. Sometimes in racing, you may not win on the track, but you are a winner to the fans.
Correct and they look amazing
@@josephandreuccetti7270 Facts (or fax if you're so that way inclined)
you sure? nobody seemed to know it existed until gran turismo.
@@MrYutoob How do you know no one knew about it?
Style, sound, character. You don't HAVE to win on the track to win hearts and minds
sadly, we don't see as much iconic cars nowadays anymore due to most manufacturers not really being interested in building unique gt cars anymore or they simply can't due to way too tight restrictions holding them back
Another massive factor is cost as well as revenue and earnings. Much like Super GT the DTM ran very expensive purpose built cars from 2000 onward that were only used for the DTM, but as viewership revenue declined in the 2010s and development costs for the cars kept rising the Manufacturers and Organizer were looking to move the DTM into another Regulation, they chose Class 1 used in Super GT so DTM Cars could compete in Super GT and vice versa but sadly that never came to fruition. In 2018 Mercedes left and was replaced in 2019 by a Swiss Private Team fielding HWA (HWA normaly builds racecars and streetcars for Mercedes-AMG) built Aston Martins using 2.0L Turbo-Engines. They were not competitive however and the team was tighter on budget than Audi and BMW so when the Pandemic hit in 2020 they retired from the Series after just one season. Audi followed suit so only BMW was left and after a shortened 2020 Season the Decision was made to move to the GT3 Regulation for 2021.
@@l33tnobody1337 I remember when they joined with SuperGT. For a few years, it looked like we'd still get some interesting cars out of it. Ironically both series already had similar cars, so it felt natural. I personally think DTM joining GT3 is a terrible precedent that'll lead to SuperGT doing the same.
Ikr. It's not like they do it out of safety either. JGTC and SuperGT, much like early GT2/GT3 and modern day GT4, used to be whatever a Japanese team could get their hands on. Then they decided to ban limited production or concept cars (which was selectively enforced considering Honda had ran the HSV-010 and NSX Concept GT), effectively keeping a lot of interesting cars out of the mix. Sad to say, but modern SuperGT is very stagnant in diversity, much like modern GT3. GT500 has always been rather bland, but GT300 was once wildly unpredictable. Now GT300 is a bunch of GT3 and DTM cars with a few dedicated SuperGT cars. Quite sad too as electric cars are gaining a foothold. One would think these series would allow a wild west shootout before it inevitably goes all electric.
@@l33tnobody1337the JLOC NOMAD Lamborghini Diablo in GT2 PROJECT A SPEC MOD has 509bhp. It is also Nozomi Tojo's favourite GT500 Race car.
@@SonicBoone56maybe 2025 we could see Super GT goes EV too. 😢
"Achieved nothing, but loved by everyone." This is exactly why we built a rally jaguar. Let's see how it goes. Great video here, especially the GT clips as eye candy to help the story along.
Sometimes the stories about the underdogs are the most interesting ones, as everyday people understand that often, no matter your effort, you'll still not reach the success others managed to achieve. That doesn't mean you do not deserve respect for trying over and over until you get at least something out of it.
Great video, thanks for making it!
I still remembered that Marco Apicella ever appeared in Super GT in the past.
Nissan, Honda & Toyota: "We're faster than you."
JLOC: "But do you have guillotine doors?"
The JLOC Murcielagos are another worth mentioning. I remember fondly driving them in GRID :,)
Funny how OP they are in that game too considering the real life ones were dogshit slow
@@Gerarghiniyep. In GRID 2008, those Lamborghini Murcielago cars can have 900bhp.
Looks alone they win
@@Gerarghini Slower then a 2CV ?
still a better game than the sequels LMAO
I would love more stories like this.
What about stories from GT500 cars that ONLY appeared in GT2 PROJECT A SPEC MOD?
If you're looking for a lot of footage in general of the series, a creator by the name of Rocket Pencil has every single race (bar Round 2 of 1994 season for some reason) and a few special events that were held uploaded on their channel. On the other hand, if you're looking for a quicker 3hr recap of 1994 - 2003 seasons of JGTC, Alex Ring Driver has two videos covering that time period of races through highlights (not sure on the origins of the video content as I didn't even know SuperGT had an official year in review up on YT and found those two creators first).
The Diablo GT1 and 1997 Castrol Tom's Supra GT500 are GOATED.

that's what I commented last video xd
I love history videos like this. It's just fun learning about some small part of something that may look like nothing but ends up being a being a deeper fuller story than most people give it credit for.
Even Coco Hayashi also loved this JLOC Lamborghini Diablo surprisingly.
Just imagine this story from the teams perspective. I bet there are more memories, good or bad, than a lot of the stories today
Please make more essays like this! As much as I love GT and your content on it, I think your passion in motorsport is shown in full color here and I'm all for it. On that mention of the Honda HSV-010, I'd very much like to see it next on your channel, one of my personal favorite Super GT cars (it's hard to choose though!)
God, it's absolutely painful to see the Raybrig NSX slide into the Diablo. Imagine how well they could've finished if that not happened.
Exactly. I felt the pain just watching it happen. Damn.
I remember going through the struggle of trying to find photos of the '97 and '99 JLOC Diablos for my GT2 cut cars video. Like you, I found it very difficult! Like you say, the best chance of the car being featured on film was when it was involved in an accident, haha!
What I love from JLOC
Diablo GT1
Their ambition
One of their driver is also a mangaka
And Nakahara Chie (current JLOC racing Queen)
Not going to lie, it really makes me chuckle how as soon as the Diablo made a surprisingly strong showing, it gets wrecked through no fault of its own. After all the work and dedication of the team racing it, against the odds. I swear, sometimes the universe just picks certain things and says "Screw you in particular"
Although I don't follow any racing series other than F1, and only stumbled upon this channel a few weeks ago from a random reddit link to the full GT7 critique video (which I watched in full, along with additionally watching some of the individual part videos), I must say this channel is quickly becoming one of my favorites. Very well researched, clearly and interestingly presented. Hopefully it stays this way. Very underrated channel when factoring in the effort surely needed to make this kind of content and the quality of the product. Mr. Roflwaffle, you have a sub and although I don't give out likes (or subs) easily, your videos deserve it. Well done!
Absolutely incredible and impeccable work on this video. Was a blast to watch. Poor Diablo, tho lol
Nozomi Tojo also crying when seeing the Diablo JLOC GT-1 like that... 😢
ah the diablo jgtc, the car that quallified behind almost all of the cars from a class lower
Back in the late 90's, early 00's I was an avid Minardi F1 fan, because they raced for the passion of racing and celebrated the smallest success as if it was the biggest win. If I'm ever able to watch Super GT, I already know what team I'm supporting, because there's no doubt in my mind that JLOC are the spiritual siblings of my beloved Minardi.
Great video, genuinely enjoyed it.
Great video. Made me realize how much I miss interesting car designs like scissor doors and retractable headlights that the road version had.
That shot of Brad still gives me goosebumps
How cool would it have been to have a series back in the early to mid 90's with the top class consisting of the Lamborghini Diablo, Ferrari f50, McLaren F1, Jaguar XJ220, Honda / Acura NSX, Ford GT90(I remember prototype photos and playing it in need for speed 2), Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, Dodge viper, Bugatti EB-10, Toyota Supra, Porsche 911 GT1, and others. That had been awesome. I know the f50 wasn't looked upon favorably, but I absolutely loved the design. But still the Diablo might just be my favorite car ever amongst all that I love. It was the one on my three-ring binder in elementary school and I just loved looking at that thing during class.
This video is gonna blow up! 💣 I love this shit man.
Amazing retrospective, I would absolutely love more like this!
This video may have been a risk, but due to the research, effort & clear passion put into this project, I think it will pay off.
The Honda HSV-010 GT you briefly mentioned in this would be an excellent future episode and I think that the last 100 years or so of Global Racing History contain more than enough interesting topics to discuss for years to come.
Looking forward to the next one :D
I remember when I was like 13 or so I was watching GT3 videos on UA-cam and when I watched the Japanese intro I was so shocked and excited. I had no idea, after at the time, I think 6 or 7 years of playing it over and over again that there was a car that I had never seen before. I fell in love with it immediately and was obsessed about finding a way to play the Japanese version for years. About 10 or so years later, I finally got my wish and played the Japanese version. But I didn't know what fucking event you win it in. So after lots and lots of Googling, I found it! 1/4 chance of getting it in the 78 laps at Monaco Endurance race. Incredibly, I managed to get it on my first try!
Yeah, that car wasn't that good aye. It was definitely the quickest but it didn't have the best handling. Although I don't hate the car, and actually had a lot of fun on the journey to get it, The Denso Sard Supra is still my number one.
This was a great video. As soon as you mentioned the win in GT300, I got genuinely happy.
You got me so attached to this team I've NEVER HEARD OF until now. I am very happy to hear about them still competing, and I hope they continue to do so for the future. AND LOOKING INTO THEM, THEY WON THIS YEAR :D
Dude in all honesty, this is at the same level as Squidd! And Squidd does masterpieces! This video deservers much more views!
As much they tried so hard to get wins but yet they still failed to do so, one thing I love about them is that they never gave up to try to achieve something. That’s the real heart of Motorsport Racing right there~ ❤
Malaysian JGTC in Fuji Speedway, same energy as Tokyo Auto Salon in Kuala Lumpur that was held in June 2023.
I definitely want to see more motorsport videos from you. This was a great video👍
Ah, the first Tony Hawk menu music in the background. One of the tastiest jams ever recorded.

This made me subscribe. Fullstop.
Youre the only youtuber I've ever seen (besides emplemon and slapshoes) that seems to hold the same amount of passion for motorsports and cars in general that I do. Definitely do more motorsports videos, this was riveting❤
The title gives me "Luigi wins by doing absolutly nothing" vibes, and I like it.
@@pellet-st6nj No thanks. Glad you proposed.
Ive always loved your content but these jgtc videos man they are amazing!!!
Wish you do more of these in the future, theres so many interesting stories you could talk about, like for example the story of Schnell SDR, the team that entered for only one race in 97 and then vanished, or the story of the Advance Auto Camaro❤❤
Been binging car documentaries recently so glad to see you give it a go.
Excellent stuff. Subbed. And man, that bit about sifting through several hours of footage just to try and spot that one car you're covering only to end up with like 34 seconds of footage. I know that feeling.
First time viewer (thanks, algorithm), really pleased I gave this vid a click. I especially enjoyed the way you covered off little side stories and examples that were relevant to the main theme.
I find that the story of JLOC in GT500 is such a shining example of just how much work goes into running a racecar at the highest level. You really nailed it by mentioning JLOC running a single car all on their own compared to the many McLaren F1s out in the world. The data and knowledge gained by having multiple cars to lean on is massively valuable.
It's things like being able to find optimal tyre pressures, getting an understanding of how the car behaves with different suspension alignments and spring weights, finding the brake configurations that work best, even simple stuff like driver comfort and ergonomics. And you being a Gran Turismo youtuber makes it all the more relevant - these are all things that we take for granted in the virtual world, but an actual race weekend is a very different beast as the opportunity to trial infinite combinations and variables just doesn't exist.
Great video, looking forward to more in the future.
Great vid, fantastic research. Hope you do more of these in the future
Another amazing video! You clearly work hard on this channel and I am seeing it grow which is great. I hope your audience will only keep growing!
Your editing style goes super good with motorsport history! I loved every bit of that video :D
If I had a cent every time “Lamborghini” and “due to financial difficulties” are in the same sentence, I would probably have at least a couple of cents lol Great video!
If u have more ideas of untold stories like this that u could make a video out of, u could easily make a sieries out of them. As a gran turismo fan it would be nice to learn the background of some of the cars which haven't got much recognition. Apart from that i must really admit that i slightly prefer your gt videos (with my favorite being the nostalgia one) the reason is that no matter how much i 've searched on yt u are the only channel that discusses deeper and more controversial topics than just the economics of gt7
I own a 1998 diablo. I bought it with a blown up engine for $4,100. I built a 2002 diablo SV engine with diamond forged pistons, titanium rods that took me a year to save for, custom ground cams, fully ported, port matched and polished heads shaved two thousandths of an inch. I built my own equal length headers and stainless 4 inch collectors to an oval 5 inch merge then out into dual 3 1/2 inch into a stock murcialago muffler i bought on ebay, out the center of the rear bumper. Custom, self built Reiger/KW coilovers that work better than both of them did combined before i did all the mods and made them into the priceless, frankenstien, one off units they are now. I had them powdercoated purple and the springs gold they look so sick. It runs on a haltech nexus g2, milspec wiring i did myself, the cage is completely seam welded to the unibody, a, and c pillars. I run it on ignite e90 and 3 stages of N2o that dont hit until wide open in 2nd gear. In third the 2nd kit comes on, 4th 5th and 6th its all 3 kits, all 300hp. In 5th gear it made 1091 wheel horsepower 622 tq. Its an absolute screaming menace of an automobile. Its completely blacked out with purple inners and black outers on the 19x10/20x12 3 piece wheels and gold lugs. It does 236mph on the limiter in 6th and gets there in just over 13 seconds. Its BLINDINGLY fast. But it doesnt really feel like armegeddon is happening like my 800whp b5 s4 does. That car is so violent i dont like to drive it with a passenger. It scared my wife so bad shell never ride in it again. It just hits THAT hard ya know? All wheel drive man.
That RR4 was TOP.
Lambo = Assoluto
JLOC = PRC
Everything comes full circle.
The Volvo 850 Super Touring Car (an estate car) from 1994 is one of my favourite cars with a story like this.
That was the Volvo 850 Estate. The Volvo 850 (Class 2) Super Tourer was raced mainly in saloon form, in 1995 and 1996. so "The Volvo 850" doesn't mean the estate necessarily.
The estate wasn't really under Super Touring rules tho, the rule change to the aero was what made the change to the saloon partly necessary, and was a lot more successful; tho the estate was damn rapid!
@@OsellaSquadraCorse oh I know the saloon was rapid. But I'm on about a car that wasn't so successful but was idolised by fans all the same. The one that Rickard Rydell and Jan Lammers drove in the BTCC 94 season(it was called a super touring because that was the class they participated in until the 95 season, the super touring was started in 93, the most iconic probably being the silver and red Audi A4 or the Renault laguna with that yellow and blue livery) switched to the saloon for the 95/96 season and rickard went to go on and win the championship in 98.
That was fun to watch! I knew there were some European cars that competed in Japan, but never heard this story before
That blue Calsonic GTR with the side port exhaust literally lives rent free in my noggin
I always loved the Diablo more than the Countach, just a beautiful car.

Your videos are serious nostalgia bombs for me, the inclusion of "One more win" brough back countless hours of R4 for me. I miss those games so much. Awesome videos as always!
And JLOC won today as well, in Motegi.
Thank you for making this video. It's such a breath of fresh air to create lesser known stories around the world. This earned a full proper sub from me man.

"You will be aware of Super GT" - There was me thinking Steve was about to get the Roflwaffle treatment 😅
I watched this video from start to finish and as the Diablo has been my favorite Lamborghini since my childhood, I kid you not this was the best video documenting this car's motorsport history I have ever seen. The story of JLOC is amazing. No matter how much they came up short or failed completely, they never threw in the towel and gave up. They kept racing and racing and racing no matter what happened and had fun doing it. The JLOC Diablo's are my favorite non-Japanese manufacturer race cars to have raced in the JGTC and to see them get this kind of recognition is nothing short of amazing. Thank you for this video, you just earned a new sub from me!
I just discovered this channel and already love it! I grew up playing Gran Turismo. Seeing those cars from Gran Turismo 2 is such a nostalgic feeling.
It would be really cool to see some more little documentaries like this from you. Very interesting!
Please make more of Super GT coming from your story of Shingo Tachi and now to this. Your presentation of the topic is engaging. Super GT definitely needs to be covered more.
the diablo didnt only race in japan though........john bowe drove one in austrailia but not sure about the category...i was searching for v8 supercar races in early 2000`s.........full respect to JLOC.....sometimes being an underdog means your a winner....especially with a car rarely seen or raced.
Lamborghini requesting PD to not put their car outside of Japan is surely a big mistake in my opinion, I don't care about licensing, the car is a part of the JGTC roster and it should've at least been in the NTSC-U version of GT3.
Overall, this Diablo is the underdog that everyone wants to see it beat the big three JGTC cars. Such grace on wheels does not have to suffer from reliability issues as it could have been David among dozens of Goliaths.
Good stuff, man. I really appreciate the research you did for this vid.
Rolf I really liked this video format its both informative and entertaining and honestly I think that's the best type. I love storytelling and I'm a massive geek for it especially for the underdogs
