Im not criticising him to much as im a huge fan but on RX7V helmets if the side cap is damaged or not fitted correctly and dangling about on its tether tapping at the helmet 100000 times a second you rip it off and forget about it and keep the visor in its locked or fog opened latch gap setting which is achieved by pushing the visor open lever up once to allow it to cam out into the fog position which again still locks the visor in place even if the end of the visor is totally dislodged on that side. Absolutely gutted for MD, and then for Davy to lose time also. Hickman has mastered the technique of riding around in fourth and waiting for the front 3 to develop problems, surely his lucky run must come to an end soon!
Yeah, I think he's got a few more strings to his bow than "just hovering around 4th & waiting" FFS. That kind of approach only makes any sense if you're looking at a straightforward circuit race where everyone sets off at the same time together, and can see what's going on around them. These guys on the TT course are racing against the clock first and foremost. They aren't always aware of exactly where everyone else is, or who's losing or gaining seconds here and there. Hickman pulled off an insane lap record around the course last year...and it wasn't only a lap record, he had various records at different points around the clock AND clocked the highest speed on the course. This course ain't Snetterton, bro. You aren't in Cadwell anymore. This course is a whole different ball game. A game where Dunlop and Hickman are both at the very top.
Sorry for the dumb question as not really up to speed on the rules but were none of the spectators allowed to help Michael put the visor back into place?

Visor guy in pits clearly saw the flap wasnt locked in properly and just "whacked" it closer rather than taking half a second to look and check it - Tiny mistake which led to a massive issue. Hopefully lesson will be learnt. Amazing Michael puts in a fastest lap right on the last, amazing stuff.
I subscribed to the LIVE Pass today. Really disapointed with the Camera Coverage of the races. Overuse of the Helicopter shots, pretty bad choices of camera placement in general, in short, worse than previous years I can remember. If a Heli Cam is cheaper for you than a certain number of well placed Track Side cameras, then next year it will cheaper for us to not pay any subscription at all ... (That camera placed at the apex of Bottom of the Barregarrow is a potential danger if for same reason it collapses or falls onto the road right in front of the riders, just saying ...)
Yes the camera points aren't very good.. needs more cameras around the Course for sure. I wont be purchasing again.. Very dissapointing the race/track footage has been very poor.. 👍

It makes me sick every time I watch it, the utter frustration of all that sublime brilliance and work to be lost. The Dunlop's have road racing in the DNA. I hope Michael gets the second Superbike race and maybe the Senior, he deserves it, even with the incredible racers at the IOMTT he still has that little bit extra. I'm a fast biker but I'm in awe of this man, his Dad, Uncle and brother would be proud he keeps the Dunlop name on the leader board.
but it wasnt fitted right there is footage of the pit guy not attaching one side😂 Whats that got to do with the manufacturer reliability? Thats ljke blaming a car manufacturer for needing a new door coz you left one open and it ripped off.
The pit guy saw there was a problem with michaels visor during the pitstop, well actually had it pointed out to him, he had to go back and fix it, why he didnt take a few moments to make sure it was secure we will never know.
He never closed the visor to locate the brass dowel. If you know this system you know that you need to close it briefly to fully locate both sides before putting the caps on. Even putting the caps on hes not hung the top and pressed the bottom just a whack😂 The guy would have messed up anyone who let him near their own helmets day that day. He was paid specifically to fit that and knows the system but just ignored the lot
Thankfully it was only a couple of days later that Michael was back to winning ways and finally beating Uncle Joey's IOM TT record.....what a family🏍❤️
sounds horrible with the teathered side caps and feels footery if you try to overfit them. If you are used to just roughly chucking them on where you think they might line up then physically shut the visor it auto-locates. You can actually be way out and it still locates if you shut the visor. From then you hang the top of the sidecap up first it self locates and hangs the sideplate at the right place for you to press the bottom into the phsical lock. If learned properly its brilliant, if you dont learn it and the type of person that gets annoyed when they hear plastic noises and tries to force stuff on before reading the instructions then any quick release system isnt for you.
I've always worn Arai because they have a great safety record and , to be frank, Im a little superstitious about changing brands. But hand on heart while the mechanism for changing visors is simply a bit of a pain for me, its too fiddly to be relied on in a TT race, the previous mechanism was better than the current one when the side pods didnt need to pop off (check out Joey's visor change for his Formula One 2000 win) . As many have mentioned a change of helmet seems to be a more reliable approach. It'll be interesting to see what Michael does in the rest of the races. After that, I hope he wins 'em all.
theres some footage of the pit guy he completely forgot to go back to that side hes put the visor over looking at the side he forgot, then went directly to the other side and secured that, then basically hung that other sideplate on and slapped it. Hes not even bothered lining that side up. Bit ridiculous tbh especially as he had one job. You know that Arai system and know how it works hes basically done the motions to fit it all as one rather than individual sides, then rather than do what you need to do when fitting it all as one quickly and physically shut the visor so it self-locates.. hes basically not done that part and started fitting it a side at a time and forgot about the other side😂 The guy knows the system too so no idea why hes chose to deviate
Indeed Arai visors systems are shit. My condor has had 3 sets of pods due to malfunction resulting in breakage. This time it cost Micheal Dunlop the TT.
i sell the things ive only had three back in total for damaged mechanisms since the RX7V came out 😂 All three admitted they force fitted it before learning how it works. If you broke 3 back to back you offically on your own broke more than Scotlands 4th biggest helmet outlet hahaha Congrats🎉 I do know what you mean though as far as how it looks so footery and the teathered side caps ting against the helmet so it has a distinct "annoyance" to it shall we say. However you are missing what a lot of others do in that you dont need to fully locate the visor on refitment you can just put it roughtly over where the red dot is near the brass pin and simply pull the visor down and it automatically self locates. From there you push the side caps on from the top so they will slide about briefly as long as you are applying pressure at the top they will find home and you can hear and feel it, from there you simply press the bottom of them quickly and it will automatically click the lock in and the lever then shoots back out. Very easy but i do appreciate what people are saying about it being footery feeling and sounds horrible
Michael Dunlop is surely the greatest of them all! The TT is the absolute pinnacle of motorsport events around the world, and the riders are the biggest heroes, and they make the Formula One drivers look like kids at a birthday party!
That's just the universe telling Michael to enjoy his 26th win a bit more before hammering out a few more wins after all Hickman only has another 12 more wins to go
shouldn't be a pain for a guy whos job is and who was trained in fitting that system. Hes not closed the visor so thats the first mistake then hes whacked the sideplate on when all you do on this system is hang the top up and press the bottom it click into place itself. Ridiculous that he was allowed to do that job knowing he was the "just thump it into place" type
Fastest ever gloves, lid on off, and visor fit in history, in a race, and it was the difference. He was brilliant in the Superbike race, and wish him well for #27+ this week.

right so you know nothing about this then? His visor guy in the pits never even put the visor on he slapped it on, it fell off then he slapped it on again. Absoultely no attempt to locate the visor he would have messed up any visor system. There is footage of it so its not really up for dispute. Michael also blamed them listen to him in the footage.
Which motorcycle was he using?

Excellent coverage. Top professional rider just stopped for equipment failure setting a safety first example for everyone
That is heart wrenching
Wow apart from heartbreak for Michael, what a video ! Amazing footage.
What a superb ride, deserved to win it. Great race though, cant wait to watch it again tonight.
These guys have balls of steel 👍👍
Why Arai make the best helmets in the world and persist in using the shitest visor mechanism. Is beyond me. Those side pods are shite!
BELL STAR!

@@375GTBBell arent remotely on par with Arai. I sell bell too they good but not the best
I've always hated Arai's visor system. I'm a Shoei man for life.
but Shoei have that stupid strap lock!
agv
I think it's good in terms of seal and security but very fiddly, honestly I don't think it's a good idea to change arai visors in a rush.
I have Shoei helmets & they can be a sod too ! Keep it easy ,just change the whole helmet !!
@@garymurphy5133 I fold up a small rubber band on the D-ring strap side and tuck the tag end into it.
Good job Michael
Very professional
I didnt watch the end but im sure he admitted that he was was lucky to win. Thats the difference between these guys and f1 , football, golf , tennis, ..........
Even Hicky said he was gifted the win, in different words
Yeh thought so they are all genuine people, no bull.
Hicky did say he was lucky today, aye. Said he was gifted it pretty much but that mistakes happen and that he's lost races due to things in the past too so he'll take it! (Fair enough really)
Yeh im sure MD has had a few of those too. He was on fire today though very smooth like mcginness at his peak.
someone is getting sacked in the morning… that is exactly why Dean Harrison changes his whole helmet… which I bet MD will do in future!
some really fine footage, thanks!
Thanks for the video
Absolute pleasure..!
Gutted for him..... But it's great to hear feck being used in anger. So many people think it's not really used
Hutchy enjoying himself in the last few moments of this video #4 2:22 on the parade lap.
Love Hutchy to bits.
A certified TT legend, and I don't think his 5 in a week will ever be beat.
Absolute testament to the human spirit of never giving in.
I'd love to see Hutchy win another.
@@NiSiochainGanSaoirsehe's past it now
@@TrulyUniqueOne nah, see what happens next year. He’s recovered from a stroke this last year so can’t be expected to be top step again straight away. He’ll be a force again out there.
@@NiSiochainGanSaoirse The new format with more bigger races may allow it to be unfortunately. However when there were just five big races in 2010, that clean sleep was epic. If someone does five (Dunlop might this week?) it might be revered as equally as good but it won’t be in my opinion.
@@TheRiderGuider nope
Absolutely gutted for MD, and then for Davy to lose time also. Hickman has mastered the technique of riding around in fourth and waiting for the front 3 to develop problems, surely his lucky run must come to an end soon!
Hickman has mastered riding around in 4th, are you joking he's the fastest man on the planet
It pains my soul to give this thumbs up! But thank you for the answer of what happened
Heartbreaking
Couldn’t believe the tt plus coverage decided to stop showing us this drama he pulled up and they went on to something else ,
I was screaming at the telly.
What an absolute professional MD you kept your head in the most frustrating situation
Absolute legend.
I know that exact problem... ! When you're caught out somewhere, your GEAR goes awry, and you have to HUSTLE
Poor Michael, did all the work and deserved to win, hope he doesn't take it too badly
Gutted for him ,all that effort gone because of a helmet visor .Good luck in rest of weeks races Michael
Jesus Christ, those flybys! Thank you for the upload.
So unlucky for MD. Absolutely rode his heart out.
This bodes well for the senior though. His pace was incredible. 😎👌
The Arai visor system is easily the worst in the business.
True TT Warrior.
So proud of Michael Dunlop!!!🎉🎉❤
best moment of passion in tt history
🏍️ In My Dream 🇮🇲
I had a dream that
That I was riding on the Isle of Man
I was in a race
And I was keeping pace, with the leaders
I was holding my own
I couldn’t believe the speed
And how they took the corners
Like flat out
The bike I was on was a beauty
And she was oh so fast
The throttle response was incredible
And I swear she knew where to go
To help me find that fine line
She had some spirit
Like a great horse
She was dialed in perfectly
And she was saving some for the end of the race
All my trust was in her
Cause at times
Everything was a blur
She took me home
I didn’t win the race
But she kept up the pace
With the greatest riders ever
Even though it was only a dream
It was quite a scream
It makes me sick every time I watch it, the utter frustration of all that sublime brilliance and work to be lost. The Dunlop's have road racing in the DNA. I hope Michael gets the second Superbike race and maybe the Senior, he deserves it, even with the incredible racers at the IOMTT he still has that little bit extra. I'm a fast biker but I'm in awe of this man, his Dad, Uncle and brother would be proud he keeps the Dunlop name on the leader board.
Omg when i watched the pitstop i thought why are the visor open!! 😢😢
Edit.. visorclip
Everyone blaming the mechanic but Arai designed the mechanism. Not a good advert for reliability.
but it wasnt fitted right there is footage of the pit guy not attaching one side😂 Whats that got to do with the manufacturer reliability? Thats ljke blaming a car manufacturer for needing a new door coz you left one open and it ripped off.
The pit guy saw there was a problem with michaels visor during the pitstop, well actually had it pointed out to him, he had to go back and fix it, why he didnt take a few moments to make sure it was secure we will never know.
Yeah looks like he slapped it shut and didnt check
He never closed the visor to locate the brass dowel. If you know this system you know that you need to close it briefly to fully locate both sides before putting the caps on. Even putting the caps on hes not hung the top and pressed the bottom just a whack😂 The guy would have messed up anyone who let him near their own helmets day that day. He was paid specifically to fit that and knows the system but just ignored the lot
Thankfully it was only a couple of days later that Michael was back to winning ways and finally beating Uncle Joey's IOM TT record.....what a family🏍❤️
Arai visor system is finicky as fuck though
sounds horrible with the teathered side caps and feels footery if you try to overfit them.
Banned arai😂😂
Some man in his pit crew is in the bad books for a few days 😂
Kept it together and finished 4th🎉🎉🎉🎉
I've always worn Arai because they have a great safety record and , to be frank, Im a little superstitious about changing brands. But hand on heart while the mechanism for changing visors is simply a bit of a pain for me, its too fiddly to be relied on in a TT race, the previous mechanism was better than the current one when the side pods didnt need to pop off (check out Joey's visor change for his Formula One 2000 win) . As many have mentioned a change of helmet seems to be a more reliable approach. It'll be interesting to see what Michael does in the rest of the races. After that, I hope he wins 'em all.
This was better than any thriller movie I've watched
Should have just done what Dean did, fresh helmet on standby, no sweat, and no fiddling around with
visors, unfourtunate, but must move on.
theres some footage of the pit guy he completely forgot to go back to that side hes put the visor over looking at the side he forgot, then went directly to the other side and secured that, then basically hung that other sideplate on and slapped it.
_There's no two ways about it, these guys are SUPERHUMAN_ Unbelievable talent and exhilarating to watch.
Never use Arai. Always Shoei or AVG❤
The energy from this video
Michael Dunlop is surely the greatest of them all!
The TT is the absolute pinnacle of motorsport events around the world, and the riders are the biggest heroes, and they make the Formula One drivers look like kids at a birthday party!
That's just the universe telling Michael to enjoy his 26th win a bit more before hammering out a few more wins after all Hickman only has another 12 more wins to go
How you meant to get a good look when they go past that quickly,👀
I feel his pain lol been there done that Arai helmets are a pain sometimes.
shouldn't be a pain for a guy whos job is and who was trained in fitting that system. Hes not closed the visor so thats the first mistake then hes whacked the sideplate on when all you do on this system is hang the top up and press the bottom it click into place itself. Ridiculous that he was allowed to do that job knowing he was the "just thump it into place" type
I get like that when I'm cooking 😂
God bless that man🙏🔥💪🏼
Really hope he keeps his calm for the next race's.
Lovely man .. superb competitor.
Fastest ever gloves, lid on off, and visor fit in history, in a race, and it was the difference.
He was brilliant in the Superbike race, and wish him well for #27+ this week.
Arai, still the best helmet money can buy. But the visor mechanism isn't.
No thats gut wrenching for Michael hell be bloody pissed , at least they stayed on , if they had fallen of that would have been end of his race , dam i feel for him , every second he took he knew the race was going from him 😢
Absolutely hartbracking and after this race it felt so empty as everyone knows this podium is not te correct one. I mean if you fail due to machinery ans you don't see the checkered flag - its bitter but you didn't do it. But THIS! - you put away the seconds Michael lost fixing his visor and he wins by far - even with this mental stress to regain concentration for the last two laps and doing the fastest knowing its for nothing but 4th place and to show everyone who is the true winner for this Superbike TT. So excited for the final Senor TT!!!
Just love the sound of those Ducati's .
Gutted. At least more races ahead for Michael this week.
Arai helmet, why?
No offence but, in my eyes Michael won it. Not to take anything away from hicky. 💪🏻💯
What pressure are his mechanics under?
Gutted.
That should have been 27th!
