Dude, I remember seeing that "hold your pee for a Wii" story on the news back in the day! Honestly until now I thought it was some weird rumor that never actually happened.
That radio call is actually super sad. Imagine calling into the show and saying those people drinking water need to stop now! But they don't listen. I'm glad that family won the case though.
@@JoshuaJacobs83 true, but it still isn't correct for them to have put those people in danger. To add on to that, they even laughed about it and didn't take anything seriously. Those people may have agreed, but what the radio station did was still reckless and grossly negligent.
@@JoshuaJacobs83 it's not really fair to say she made the choice if she wasn't informed and, even more importantly, made to understand the risks. Water intoxication is not something an average person knows and to make matters worse it's counter intuitive. It's a lose-lose situation to the radiostation. If they didn't know about the risk they were not able to appropriately inform the contestants about the risk. Which makes any harm their fault, for unwittingly causing it. If they knew about the harm and didn't inform people well enough, well then they consciously risked people's lives. If they knew and warned people they knew there will be people desperate enough to do it (be it poor, mentally challenged, pressured to do it) or stupid enough to not believe the risk are real. And just because someone is stupid doesn't mean they can be used or abused. I have a pretty weird gaming story that happened to me a LONG time ago: So, i was playing Minecraft on my XBOX 360 and was playing around with a village when out of nowhere i noticed this player with a piglin skin, which was strange, i didnt make my world online... At least i hope not. He just started spawning piglins and i just... went with it, i started spawning piglins with him Sadly i had to stop playing cause i had to go eat, and i never heard anything from that guy, i dont think i had him as friends. Fantastic work on this one but that final trials secret is so frustrating lol. He should have done it for 10 years that would have actually been interesting. It's not like it's going to be UFO secrets or something like that and any information related to the game won't matter in 100 years gaming technology will have seen it all by that point.
Idk, Trials came out when there was much less of a retro scene and people were just barely beginning to discuss how/if we can preserve current games for future generations. In fact I think we're still only barely doing that. Setting the date so far out that the box will probably go to someone who could never have played Trials itself, lets the game reach more people (at least in a way) than almost any of its contemporaries. A few people in 100 years will have a small insight into early 2000s gaming culture due to the prize. A 10 year delay would just get turned into sequel marketing, or be forgotten because nobody cares about most 10-year-old games. Possibly both.
Tbh I honestly doubt it’ll be 100 years-I think it was there to make us wonder but I think the secret may be unraveling soon Has any new Trials games come out? If so; we start there
How the hell was this guy able to have such good internet connection while driving in the middle of nowhere?! I've been traveling in the desert before, and my phone's reception wasn't good enough to use the GPS, let alone play an MMO!
The Secret of Evermore thing sounds like it should lead into an internet mystery. I think the next step would be to determine what magazine those screenshots came from and track down that issue or various scans of it from multiple different sources, and determine if the screenshots are real. If they are, next would be to contact the people involved with the magazine at the time. The original blog poster doesn't say which magazine it's from, and looking up what little legible text can be seen in the image as a quotation-mark-surrounded search through google yields nothing. It's entirely possible this was just a kid who liked the game and wanted to write a plausible creepypasta about it. Now the Trials ARG is super awesome. At first I was disappointed too that I wouldn't live to see the ending, but that's the point. The Big Freeze theory, and a link to the unintentional creator of nuclear war, Albert Einstein, being integral parts of the puzzle is the answer in itself- this is a puzzle about death. We WILL die before we see the answer, but that's intentional. 100 years was specifically chosen because it's just long enough for the puzzle to remain in popular subconscious while still being unsolved and legendary. 50 years, and the point of the puzzle would be lost. 1000 years, and no one would even remember, records from our time about the puzzle specifically would likely be damaged or entirely gone. So, to pass something forward in time, 100 years was chosen.
No one will ever see it or know, if its even real at all. For 1 thing it's going to be 100+ years in the future, another thing is no one is going to remember to tell their children or grandchildren about this silly pointless thing, even if somehow this nonsense is passed down from generation to generation most likely the key will be lost at some point or someone's wife or girlfriend will find it and throw it out as trash, etc. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's a nothing burger meant to drum out excitement for the game with nothing planned for 100 years which is most likely anyway. Even if somehow he did guarantee something is going to happen in 100 years, which is frankly impossible, either no one will remember, no one will care about this strange thing someone's great grandfather was in involved in, or no one will have the key. Frankly they should be ashamed of wasting so many people's time and brainpower on something when those people could have been doing something worthwhile.

There's definitely still something off about Secret of Evermore; and there's got to be something else hiding in the track editor of Trials Fusion, or the actual fifth key was already preclaimed and the track editor is a red herring.

Just now found your channel and am already in love with the strange gaming series! Also shoutout for being a fan of debunk file, they're quite the cool guys
To me The Quake 3 story sounds reminiscent of the movie Wargames with Matthew Broderick. The A.I. figured the best way to not lose is to not play at all.
Well, about that Evermore bit... Text compression is a very real thing. When you've only got 32 megabits, even Americans have to come up with shortcuts to fitting text into video games. It's pretty common in translations, especially since the English language is built differently. A lot of it involves pre-programming a whole vocabulary, and then making it display parts of that vocabulary with single hexadecimals. Pokemon's translation is most guilty of this, with its CAPITAL NAMES for important things. 18:06 That comment's about the Magic Gourd, right? Sorry for skimping out on the rest of the video. Interesting series, though.
Fun fact: deepmind is now playing "the BATTLE OF POLYTOPIA" a mobile Turn based game, the scary thing is that the bot can Turn the phone on and select the app "POLYTOPIA", this is scary.
It is. I can tell you exactly where "Ed Kann" came from. It was a user on the Something Awful message boards. There was a rather large thread about video game urban legends and one of the goons wanted some quick e-cred so he purposely made all of this up and posted it in the thread. He was called out on it later even though he had tricked many people already. But it was convincing enough since SoE already had a sinister undertone to it to begin with. So yeah, it was a Something Awful forums hoax perpetrated by a single user, albeit a very entertaining and convincing one.
The "Hello, skynet?" story made me come up with a creepypasta idea... a game where an AI controlling it's level, enemy, npc etc. generation learns your fears to the point it creates specific environment, enemies, NPCs and everything that can disturb and horrify you very badly, scar your memories for the rest of your life
3:18 "They could die from this." "Oh no! Anyway..." Why was this a competition? Edit: "Maybe we should've done some research beforehand..." (paraphrasing) AND *WHY* WAS IT HOSTED BY SUCH INCOMPETENT ENIGMAS OF PEOPLE?!

She did it to herself. If you're too stupid to realize injesting 2 gallons of anything is a bad idea thats on you. I feel no pity for her, she and the radio station are equally responsible.
The trials thing last 100 years just because they hope no one will be around in 100 years to claim said prize its a marketing stunt and a stupid one at that if you ask me. The only good thing about this is that they are fun to find thats about it. Its not like you get the philosopher stone in 100 years thanks to those keys....
Exactly. It's not even slightly possible to ensure something will happen in 100 years, not even a government is able to actually do that. Besides which the idea that not only will the family pass down this nonsense from generation to generation but that they will still have the key is asinine. Someone's girlfriend or wife is going to throw it away or lose it, or their children after they inherent it, or the grandkids will have the key and have no idea what it is or what it's for and might keep it around as a cool knickknack from grandpappy and thats it. Clear marketing scam. Ridiculous that he acts like he can plan and ensure that something will happen in 100 years, like I said not even governments can achieve that. It was meant to drum up interest in the game. Really it's shameful that he would waste so many people's time, effort, and brainpower on something with no pay off at all.
I think it might be a time capsule for the last one, hence why we have to wait till 2113. That's my guess to be honest and it makes a lot of sense if it is.
For those worrying about ai taking over, no, it will never happen, since you need chemicals that only the living tissue can process, which is what makes us sentient

Imagine dying and going to wherever you go after you die and get asked what you died of and you say "I died of drinking too much water just to get a wii", very sad.
About the 1st story, I think these kinds of "how much [insert totally edible item] can you eat/drink" contests should force a limit where if someone starts taking so much that it is very unhealthy for the human body, they would be forced to stop at that point. Or if there js a rule like that, it should be enforced more strictly.
The third story isn't scary at all! As someone who plans to work in A.I. and create the perfect A.I. that thinks and is self-aware, it is a good step forward for the bots to mimic human behavior! People shouldn't really be scared of A.I.! Just treat them like you would a human xD
There is nothing to be afraid of A.I.! There will be no skynet, and us humans and A.I. will live peacefull together! My dream is to create the perfect A.I. that thinks like us and is self-aware! I probably have to research so Google doesn't take away my dream >

well I guess you never know....
Just got here, so excited!
My guy you gotta good thing goin here 🤌
thank you! 😀
Totally watching this well eating chips, can't wait for the Mother crap (for obvious reasons)
NIIIIIICE. What chips?
I think it might be a time capsule for the last one, hence why we have to wait till 2113. That's my guess to be honest and it makes a lot of sense if it is.
Any chance for future volumes???
For those worrying about ai taking over, no, it will never happen, since you need chemicals that only the living tissue can process, which is what makes us sentient
I think that in 2113, there will be a Hidden ZERO GRAVITY MOTORCYLCLE AWAITING THE CHOSEN ONES WHO HOLD THE KEYS TO THIS MISTERY
This is sooo underrated
thanks so much for watching!
Imagine dying and going to wherever you go after you die and get asked what you died of and you say "I died of drinking too much water just to get a wii", very sad.
It's certainly a stupid move. She should have known better. Both her and the radio station are equally at fault.
The second quake 3 ai one isn't real and is just a creepypasta made on the /x/ board.
I think the fifth key is meant to be 3d printed.
Can’t wait for the next one!
0:00 YO I KNOW THAT MUSIC IS FROM HOME
In Quake 3, the only winning move is not to play
Okay, so about the guy in the box: how the hell did he use the bathroom?
100th great video btw
The third story isn't scary at all! As someone who plans to work in A.I. and create the perfect A.I. that thinks and is self-aware, it is a good step forward for the bots to mimic human behavior! People shouldn't really be scared of A.I.! Just treat them like you would a human xD
Maybe someone can datamine Secret Of Evermore to find the darker dialogue?
not sure they found anything :(
@@PressStartToContinueYT Oof. Maybe if an early prototype surfaces we can find out.
cool videos
Has anyone checked where the four points intersect on the globe ?
The ai were buged out because he left the game on for so long in the back ground when he started to play it again the air fixed it self
correct
Okay mans just lived as a NEET for a week nbd ive done that for months at a time.
Yea but he was successful at it
There is nothing to be afraid of A.I.! There will be no skynet, and us humans and A.I. will live peacefull together! My dream is to create the perfect A.I. that thinks like us and is self-aware! I probably have to research so Google doesn't take away my dream >
22:27 lol that's 4chan not reddit
23:30 could that AI be downloaded into someone's brain to make them better at video games?
Brains aren't hardware...
When's the next one lol
I genuinely hate the Trials arg. Such pretentious crap for a slightly above average game.
How is it pretentious and how do you even define a "slightly above average" game?
