I haven't seen too many limited size layouts. Your layout is truly impressive. The attention to detail is spot on. From the weathering and realistic landscaping to the backdrop which blends in well. Good job!
Remarkable detail. Realistic speed of switching out the rail cars. Nice timing in your starting/stopping procedures. This is model railroading at its best!
Expansion without new benchmark? Universal Paper (now Saddle Creek Logistics) in Florence Township, NJ., used to have two parallel tracks for their docks. They would put ramps between boxcars to access the outside cars from the docks. Wondering if you have room for your tan building. Greatly enjoy your videos!
I enjoyed the switching video. You did a great job on your background structures and weathering them. I especially like the light blue structure in the corner. The piles of melting snow are a great touch. Your layout proves you don't need a large layout to have a great ops session. Keep up the good work.-Tom
Thanks for the comment Thomas! I have taken a lot of inspiration from your layout. You do amazing work! Also enjoyed your episode on A Modeler’s Life podcast.
Hi John, I am honored to hear I have inspired you with your layout. You have done an outstanding job working with the space you have. It was very smart to select one industry and make that the focus of your layout. Please contact me at tklimoski@gmail.com and I'll discuss a few options you can consider for switch lists for your layout. I use a simple excel spread sheet format for my switch lists that you could easily modify for your operation. Hi John, our good friend Roy Smith of Panama suggested coming over to your channel and view what you have done. Really impressive and realistic. Already, I can see some things you have done in the scenery department that will work for me on my N Scale layout. Thanks, John and Thanks to Roy for recommending your channel. Dean from Minnesota
Maybe for retirement or if I can win the lottery or become a recipient of fortune I would certainly move in this direction of model trains as I grew up with a rail line when I lived with my parent's that was right behind the house. It's amazing how authentically model rail cars are made today even with rotating bearings. When I was a kid that's what was always the first thing that made model trains and manifest freight cars still that lesser than the reality of life sized trains - no rotating bearings and bearings that looked nothing like the life sized trains here in America. Your layout is exemplary and beckons a place I would like to park my truck next to and observe rail action switching so to speak.
Hands clapping well done. Maybe in your next video you might move some vehicles around. UPS would have never been there that long. Otherwise well done.
Very, very nicely done and presented! Your track plan and structure layout is very effective, and your modeling work, sound, switching speeds and overall realism are GREAT! You can have a ton of enjoyment in your limited space. This should inspire modelers with similar limitations to do a similar project. Well done!
Thanks Drake! I found that being limited to a compressed space forced me to focus on detail since there wasn't much of a layout. I am very much enjoying the hobby. Thanks again for the kind words.

Really well done, John - across the board! Your structures are very realistic, the scenery is very well executed. The lighting is great. This is a very nice layout! I'm doing a 2x8, and you've given me tons of ideas and inspiration. Thanks for sharing!
Great job, yes you could have saved some moves, but learning is part of the fun. Good speed, sound and super modeling, I just found your site and will be watching. Old man in OR
Man..if I had the time, space, and money I 110% would work on a HO scale layout, switching of course. Hopefully one day, though I doubt I'll be able to with how expensive everything is. Great layout man, you must be extremely proud of it. Looking forward to the next upload.
Thank you! The small space I had available really forced me to focus on one area and to think simple is better. This will be a major element in my next larger layout which will be announced soon.
Hello again. I forgot to mention it in my last post, but make sure you put a blue flag on the engine tie up track. That way, the service employees are protected against any train movement.while servicing the engine. You might want to add a flashing blue LED if you're fueling/sanding at night. Regards, Tom

Fantastic layout! Do you have a problem with the locomotive picking up the grass from the weedy track or no? I have some scenes I’d like to try that with.
Thank you! No i haven’t had issues with this. I use good paste glue and 2mm fibers between the rails. I have had occasional issues with longer 6mm fibers getting bent over across the rails and a locomotive loosing power on my older layout. But with keep alives and smaller fibers no issues so far. Your layout is truly oustanding. One of the best small switching layouts I've seen. I love your attention to detail. I was wondering who makes the corn syrup tank cars? Are they Altas, Walthers or Intermountain?
Thanks. I've managed to pick up 4 Atlas cars. They are difficult to find here in the UK. I'm hoping to build a layout similar to yours in a smaller total space of 9ft x 15ins. Your layout has been an inspiration.
Is this a portion of a larger layout or is it just this switching section. I am impressed with what you have done in this area plus the operations are cool. The cars are weathered good too. It is a nice touch having the railroad personnel on the cars and engine. Gave you a sub and like. Hope to see more.
Very, very well done. Love the weathering, the track speed, the sound level. And best of all its not a layout where the train runs in circles at 98 miles per hour. Thanks for sharing and being prototypical. Are you planning on modeling other RSSX locomotives so that it looks like they're being transferred to another industry or just going to the home shop for repairs?
Thanks Bradley. I appreciate the comment. I have recently finished another SW1200 that I made a few videos on. It came out better than the first. I also have a Railserve GP7 that isn’t completely finished yet. I believe it is shown in one of my early videos. I plan on swapping them out occasionally.
