  • Here is a quick update but mostly to show some movement on the layout. I am currently working on some switch lists to get into operations. I apologize for the shaky camera. I don't have a high enough tripod yet.

    Appreciate you making this video because I did NOT know about Kadee shelf couplers, nor about the fantastic HobbyZone modular shelving systems.
    Also, your method for modeling piles of snow is ingenious, and I look forward to seeing how you weather them, and I also like how you closed out this video with a prototypical switching session with the camera at track level. Very immersive.
    Last, please consider enabling your UA-cam "Thanks" button so we can drop some appreciation into your tip jar.

    Your switching layout-era so reminds me of where I grew up in Cleveland OH- right near a brick factory and an asphalt shingle factory. I’d go down there hop trains and take pictures with my 126 Kodak camera- once they let me ride on the engine while they were switching cars... ah good times!

    Absolutely! Congrats on your great quality layout; but the prototypical slow running of your switcher engine was awesome and inspiring! Thank you for this artistic display using a small space to the optimal advantage...

    Hi John, I just love this layout! Lots of good inspiration here. This is what a would probably model if I were to build one. I live in Chicago and there's lots of good switching industries here. I love these modern layouts.

      Thanks. Since I don’t have the room for a continuous running layout I decided to model a switching layout. The industrial look always looked appealing to me seeing Trains in this urban setting.

    I'm really behind in watching videos! Pressurized trailers are also called dry bulk trailers or Pneumatic Trailers. They usually haul frac sand, Portland Cement or any other heavy dense product, silica, pot ash, soda ash, limestone. There are also food grade Pneumatic trailers that haul flour, yeast, corn meal. Some plastic pellets are hauled in pneumatic trailers too.
    Love that toter, trailer and the lube truck!
    I want to know your secret to getting views to, just like Vinny! Like this video, you have 1,85?, subscribers and you have 8,600 views on this video???
    How much for that toter, trailer and a lube truck, all red though? Red trucks!
    I love those Hobby organizers too! I've been thinking about buying a few for my work station at home! Keep up the good work!

    I like the almost melted snow piles, but i think you need some gloss medium or something spread around them for puddles. At least in Maryland (where I last shoveled snow) there were always puddles around piles.

    • @RailserveJohn

    Looks great. Quick question....what scale are those 18 wheelers and other vehicles? I have a HO Scale layout as well and was thinking about buying realistic Johnny Lightning, M2 Machines or Hot wheels. Will those look too big? Any advice is appreciated

    • @RailserveJohn
      @RailserveJohn  4 роки тому

      Thanks. My Vehicles are 1:87 HO scale. I believe hot wheels are a slightly larger scale. Some people use them which is perfectly fine. It all depends how realistic you would like to go.

    Was the beacon light something you added to your SW1200? If so, what make/model is it? Looks great.

    • @RailserveJohn
      @RailserveJohn  5 років тому +1

      Thanks. The SW1200 started out as a Proto 2000 CNW model. I stripped the paint, added metal grills / detail parts, repainted and added a Tsunami 2 decoder. I built it a couple years ago before I started making videos. But I think I’ll make a video with all of the progress pictures. Thanks for the idea! BTW do you fly for Skywest or Envoy?

    • @RailserveJohn
      @RailserveJohn  5 років тому +1

      With Jet Aviation. It’s a home based account. I have it powered off an AUX output from the Decoder. There are many flash options. Most new decoders have an extra function for this.
