    Who is Ron Spomer
    For 44 years I’ve had the good fortune to photograph and write about my passion - the outdoor life. Wild creatures and wild places have always stirred me - from the first flushing pheasant that frightened me out of my socks in grandpa’s cornfield to the last whitetail that dismissed me with a wag of its tail. In my attempts to connect with this natural wonder, to become an integral part of our ecosystem and capture a bit of its mystery, I’ve photographed, hiked, hunted, birded, and fished across much of this planet. I've seen the beauty that everyone should see, survived adventures that everyone should experience. I may not have climbed the highest mountains, canoed the wildest rivers, caught the largest fish or shot the biggest bucks, but I’ve tried. Perhaps you have, too. And that’s the essential thing. Being out there, an active participant in our outdoor world.

    Get yourself a pepper spray, if you want a non lethal option. It`s cheaper, lighter, smaller and more effective. And if somebody attacks you, he is usually an arms length away.

      I carry a gun(s) but my teenaged kids can’t. A Tippman Tipx loaded with alternating pepper balls and rubber coated steel balls (68 caliber) is at least something they can carry in the car in case of a breakdown. In addition to pepper spray, knife, and club.

    To me, the air leak down is a big no. I don't know if you mentioned it, but if it's only good to shoot with the cap freshly turned down into place, it might as well be a cap and ball gun complicated that you have to load before going into a questionable area. Maybe do a test to see by shooting it once and store it for a week, and take it out to see how much speed the second shot goes. Baseline leak down figured, do a fresh never shot cap crank down and store it for two months. If it shoots as fast as fresh, then there is not problem as I saw it.

    • @ScaredyCatTactical
      @ScaredyCatTactical 2 роки тому

      The CO2 cartridge doesn't get pierced until the first trigger push. So it won't leak down spontaneously. Once pierced, the CO2 should be used that day or tossed out. They cost about $0.50 each for 12g or a little more for 8g in the Lifelite Mobile version, so really not an issue.

    Your video popped up in my recommended section and I enjoyed your review. Byrna makes a great Kinetic Launcher and is the only company that sells Pepperball rounds in California because they worked with the state to allow residents to take the BSIS Chemical Agent Certification exam and once passed, we can legally buy and use them here. I spent 6 months talking to other companies and none of them had any plans to sell their Pepperball products here in California which is unfortunate because they would sell tens of thousands of units easily since guns are almost impossible to legally purchase for the last 3 years as gun manufacturers don't want to do business with California because of the ridiculous number of gun laws we have here. You can actually buy a gun and a year later find it's now illegal to own that model of gun or rifle.

    Well, Ron, it would be nice if we never had to consider this but it's the times we live in. I fall on the side of carrying a gun. Those two items are just plan bulky and that Combo light laser and ball launcher seems to be very difficult to operate, and I think more so under stress. I think a good old can of bear spray would be a better option along with the flashlight you should have when walking around in the dark. I can see myself explaining to a CT State Trooper where I live: Officer Dan: Mr. George why did you hose down Skippy with a whole can of bear spray? Well, Officer Dan, Skippy was trying to relieve me of the 20 I just took out of the ATM! Somehow I still think I will be talking to a judge never the less. Good one Ron, I know this is stuff you don't normally address.

  • @williamgaines9784
    @williamgaines9784 2 роки тому

    The Pepperball Mobile looks very much like the original Taser. I would not recommend either to my loved ones. The pistol version could be considered as a less lethal option for law enforcement, and the coloring would help keep the user from discharging the "wrong" weapon (even though it still happens). Law enforcement operates under different rules, an apprehension usually occurs after such encounters, whereas private citizens don't have that responsibility. Law enforcement also has the lethal option, which private citizens have as well, but carrying multitudes of weapons is not always practicable for the private citizen. The KeepItSimpleStupid method is best, use your best tool, your brain, to try and avoid confrontations and keep the highly effective, but not always lethal firearm/blade(an unfired, yet deployed, firearm is a great deterrent, same for a knife), for the unavoidable.
    Neat demonstration.
