My mate's got a mattress made of speedfoam and he reckons he can get 8 hours sleep in 7 hours!!
Take my like, I didn't want it anyway!
Brilliant xDDD
You never cease to entertain me with your disdain for marketing. Thank you
3 years ago, was your testing, last night I pulled the trigger and bought a set. Just letting you know, your tests continue to mold the used marketplace.

Love the look P790 Mark, I am agreed with Dan definitely muscle back with foam technology
Good review I don’t usually like TM irons but these are changing my mind. And your review has also made me feel differently about them. Thanks & keep up the good videos both on & off the course.
Just ordered the 760's. Not super hot on the look but the numbers are great. And they get strong reviews. Using 716 CBs right now.
Got this in to try at work. Great irons! No feel differences between the 8 no foam and 7 speed foam. I don't buy the speed foam thing at all but still awesome sticks!
Happy to finally see the shaft noted in the review! 😉😉💯
The speedfoam is more about supporting the thin face and adjusting the acoustics I think, rather than producing any extra distance, so should have been called something else really.

Haha like that Mattias 👍🏌️♂️
"We just added 100 to the price" foam.
Too bad you guys couldn't get out on the course with a long iron, mid iron, and wedge of the set. I like the seeing you guys in your competitive setting.
Great, unbiased review as usual boys. Thank you. I have the P790's, my first TM irons, love them. They have nailed it with the P series. Hated TM irons pre this, but they are onto something here. 'Speed foam' is a ridiculous name, classic TM marketing BS to be honest, in reality it just makes the strike feel really soft which is what we all want, so no need for a stupid gimmicky name, which just has people laughing at them; take note TM Marketing department.....
Just swapped into these from a set of power bats with a 31 degree 7 iron. I find the 33 degree 7 in these is the perfect jump to more realistic lofts without feeling I have to hit 2 extra clubs in!
And the 8 iron (and upwards) feel just as soft as the 919's / AP2's TBH. 👍
Speed foam enhances feel. It's a cute name for insulation. It isn't there to make the ball go further, but just to absorb sound. It's why the 790 and PXG feel better than the hollow ping i500 which sound hollow and loud. If you've ever held that little piece of yellow foam that TaylorMade reps carry around, you'll understand that it's similar to memory foam. It doesn't have the aggressive springiness to make a ball go further. Even if they call it "SPEED foam", it doesn't make anything speedier. The reason the foam isn't in the scoring irons is NOT to reign in the distance, thereby giving us control. It's MISSING from the scoring irons because those clubs aren't hollow. No thinner face in these clubs. Just like the Apex Pro don't have cup face in the 8,9 P. I've never heard TM say the foam makes the ball go faster. Its sound absorption in the thin face hollow longer irons. I have no issue with TM using it, or calling it that.
It almost pains me to say this but the 760s look good... And they felt about as good as any forged Mizuno I've ever hit. TM might have brought the heat with this one.
welldone Mark and Dan good test straight down the middle comments
Great video Mark and Dan. Lovely looking club with decent distance and impressive spin. Was nice to see you miss hit a few just to prove the point that clubs still have a big drop off in distance. You might find yourself on taylormade Christmas card list this year 😂👍
These are growing on me. Taylormade irons are looking good lately.
That looks like a good looking club and a great review by you both , well done Mark and Dan
I own a set p-4 and the difference between the 7 and 8 is negligible depending on the strike but you can tell it's built to be more forgiving in the 4 and 5 than a typical blade. Truly forgiving in the long and incredible shaping in the short.
of course you can do a TM review Mark.....although the ball speeds might freak you out compared to titleist....they did when I switched.
I am interested in your interaction with the 5 iron. It has significantly more speedfoam in it.
Not a huge TM guy- but these are STILL the best irons out there in the last couple years. Smart blended set. Awesome feel.
Hey Taylormade guys, send Marc a PW and a 5i also so they can do a full review. Marc and Dan are doing the best club reviews on UA-cam together with Rick Shields and you send them a full-ish set they can get it on the course and test it where it matters. And they always are honest and rate TM clubs just as good as they deserve which most of the time is very good. So come on, shape up and send a full set next time
I did a iron fitting at TXG in Canada. I’m a anti TaylorMade guy. I went into the fitting with a open mind and ending up leaving with 760’s in the bag🤦🏻♂️. They checked all the boxes!! $$$ tho. Only wish Mizuno forged Tours came in LEFT Hang!!!
I reckon Dan won't be the only one switching to TM 760 after this review
The foam is a packer and shock absorber . I suppose it's like getting hit by an 1ltr plastic bottle, if the bottle is empty you'd have to swing that bottle really fast to do any real damage, fill that same bottle with water and do the same experiment and someone's spending a night in hospital with concision. In the aforementioned example the empty bottle would come off worse as the bottle has no internal support, all energy transmitted on the thin plastic would cause it to crumple, however fill the bottle with compressed gas and that same bottle can take a huge amount of force and will reflect some of the energy back as a reaction. I think there's 3 laws of thermodynamics, bloke named Newton put pen to paper a few hundred years back that explains it better than I can. No idea why they call it speed foam, the foams job it to slow the destruction of the face due to the very thin face material, the foam is a supporting structure
I'm so happy to see Standard Deviation in the numbers now. It won't make me play better golf, but as someone who is into stats, it always irked me when things like distance offline were given as averages rather than std devs. You could smash one 100 yards left and one 100 yards right and you get an average offline of 0 yards....std dev is the useful stat. Just another way that these videos continue getting better and better #greatworkbrah
Nice to see that you are still reviewing taylormade products. Don't give in! ;-)
Good on you Mark( and Dan) , I think it shows your character in giving a good, fair and honest review of the TM product..... personaly I would just have said it was crap and tested a different make of club🏌️♂️🏌️♂️😁😁.... only kidding TM please don't send a swat team round to sort me out😪
These clubs are incredible, and still game them. Bring this set back @TaylorMade #P760
The progression in this set really makes sense to me. Not a big fan of the brand, but I could probably game those
I'll weigh into the speedfoam thing lol. Yes it supports the thin face and helps acoustics, but it's there to do this so that the actual metal bits can be in a place to make the club more forgiving ie: back and low. It's not in the short irons because they want maximum feel in those ones, not forgiveness. So, this set is designed to be a pre-made composite set, as if you went for P790 long irons and P730 shorts.
Just bought a set of these, and I think the biggest benefit of the Speedfoam is to be able to create a thin face and hollow body, but maintain good acoustics. Think about how the Ping i500s sound against these.
Was about to write "wheres the side by side with another iron that's similar?!!?" Ah, there it is, thanks Brah.
Considering TM hates you, that was quite the fair review.
Great review. My biggest negative with the P769 is the rear cavity design. I have no idea what purpose the vertical lines, channels, or whatever they are, actually accomplish. If they were lime green, the irons could be from the infamous Square Strike wedge family seen on Golf Channel infomercials. That being said, I understand you can't see that channels from address, but if I can see them while sitting in my bag, then it's a deal breaker. At that price point, aesthetics need to be spot on for me to game them.
Another good video guys.
Would you bend the 760 to your normal 7 iron loft?
That would challenge the “speed foam”? Be an interesting video.
Sort a ball speed divided by loft calculation?
Think I’m making sense!
👍
Beautiful clubs, but just a quick side note, I found a TP5 ball on the course last weekend and immediately threw it straight into the water. Was that an appropriate reaction? Great video as always! Cheers brah!
WHAT, speed foam doesn't make it faster? Surely it's not just a marketing gimmick?
I'd find it hard to spend my money on these over other more "classic" irons, like Mizuno or Titleist.
Question for a future review, do these "super hot" faces mean that you get a greater drop off in performance from off centre strikes that you would your MB, or an MP18?
There has been a study where more people need the club towards upright which is why some of the manufacturers have them slightly more upright these days.
Great review, please do a comparison of all the gameing iron, AP3, etc...
Is it called speed foam because it makes the club lighter than it would be if it was solid? So with the foam in there it makes it lighter and faster than a solid iron. Just a thought
Nice review - I own the 770's (no this isn't Rory) and I really like them, the 760's are intriguing but not looking for clubs right now. I think in the 760's the speedfoam isn't really making the club speedy but helps the forgyish feel of the club and probably provides a bit of structure to the thinner face.
Matt Aamold did you look at 790 when you bought your 770 I’m trying to decide which one to get right now
@@mariomoreno9647 I'd hit the 790's and they felt nice but they are huge and clunky compared to the 770's.
Matt Aamold Thansk for your input I think I’m going to go with the 770 as well....
I am not crazy about Taylor made bringing out their new club but having stronger lofts instead of the traditional lofts. Makes me feel like the speed foam isn't helping me more than the loft for distance. Feels almost deceitful if I didn't know any better.
I liked how Titleist came out with the 718 line where you could choose, AP1, AP2 and AP3 with different lofts and different constructions. Allowing you to choose from their new clubs whichever you liked. Or you could blend filling in your gaps if needed. But to each his own I guess...
I would rather call it Beef Foam. Can picture the TaylorMade guys watching this review and being rather red faced with there attitude towards the Putting God. Looks a lovely club and also do it in black which would love even better. Great vlog again
Made to be used with the TP5 ball that has the steepest decent angles that all the really good tournament players want.
I always thought speed foam was to help you maintain ball speed on off center hits, not give you more ball speed
Can you say slimmer i500 forged. Does look lovely. Probably in my opinion TM best go at a players iron with help.
Could you compare these to the Ping i210's? They seem to target pretty much the same market, but I'm not sure if the 760's would be worth the extra $300-400
Mark,on the subject of flat or upright lies,do you think that we adjust to the lie we are given with clubs. Could you do an in-depth review of this subject. Thanks
Ooo...lovely shapes on those club heads... Don’t know about how fast that “Speed foam” goes in that restricted space in the head, but I suppose the softness nicely tricks a golfer to swing a lower lofted club with some coerced confidence. #zoomzoomspeedyfoam #bodyisanengine
Mark:
How would you compare the p760 to the 718 AP2? Is it safe to say pretty much the same forgiveness wise, but TM slightly stronger in their lofts?
Great content as usual Mark, and whilst I do agree with you, I do think it's important to bear in mind that these golf companies are spending millions of dollars a year on R&D, and it would be silly for them to continue doing that if they didn't get to market (and effectively praise) their innovation efforts. As far as I see it, marketing BS and gimmicks are just the price to the consumer of technological advancements in golf equipment.
Good points. But maybe you “think” they are spending that much on “RnD”
😉😉😉😉😉 hope that doesn’t burst any bubbles 👍👍👍
@@MarkCrossfield No way TaylorMade gets change out of a million bucks on RnD/NPD a year!
Great un biase review 🖒 but would not change from my p730 blades as you loved them too 😁
I have the p760s and love them and they look great but I agree with you, don’t let go of your p730s they are the most beautiful irons Taylormade has made however I don’t play enough to use them effectively at a high level. I play off 8 but I like a little more forgiveness.
Yup I game p760 4 5 6 p730 in 7 8 9 PW. Love them
I originally didn't like the look of the p760, but I think it was just that the first photos didn't do it justice.
Like the look of that. ⛳️
Lovely looking clubs 😛
Mark, Can you please do a review of Swing Caddie SC200?
Speed Foam doesn't make you hit it further....rather it mutes that hollow sound which PING should have done on their i500. Yes, it was a bad name by TM, SpeedFoam. It's more an insulator, not unlike PXG and their polymer. And I like the effect. Less hollow sounding.
Regarding Mark's concern, yes, the 8 feels diff than the 7. But so do the Apex Pro when it goes from Cup Face to none between the 7 and 8.
Is there a big distance gap between the 7 iron with sf and the 8 iron without?
Great review of a really nice club.
Very fair review from you both, thoughts on the price would be interesting 🤪
Chris Evans FWIW I picked them up for the same price as I could find the 919 Forged. Ignore the RRP dude!!
P760. TaylorMade finally got their aesthetic game on point ⛳️⛳️⛳️⛳️
No, no they didn't
@@chickenclips you against speed foam?
@@SlingingBirdies I'm against Taylormade ramming rubbish down the consumers throat more than once a year. I've hit speedfoam, it sounds and feels awful.
Sure they’re trolling the “I need shiny and new sticks” crowd. For no equipment bunk check out my UA-cam channel:
ua-cam.com/users/slingingBirdies54
if the p series was the karashian... 760 would be kloe
Look good, a tad pricey and when I tested these recently I thought they performed well but felt too firm compared to AP2 and JPX919 Forged
I guess the foam filling is more to do with acoustics than anything else, I would guess a hollow construction would be very loud.
Speed foam isn't a new thing by Taylormade. I had a set of R9 irons, and I'm sure that they had some sort of "speed-foam" in them too. Loved them until I tried the Ping G25's.
Hi Mark, with speed foam in 7-4 let’s say and 8-pw without my question is if your 7 iron carry’s 152 with stronger loft and speed foam where does this leave the gapping between 7&8 for distance? Would there be more than say 12 yards carry I’m just a bit confused how this would work or is the 8 iron 3 degrees stronger than a standard 8 iron just without speed foam. Thank you for your reply in advance.
The speed foam is just for acoustics on the hollow clubs (7-4), nothing to do with carry distances. The set will gap however you need it to, if you get custom fit for it.
Short answer, there won't be any funny gapping between 7 and 8.
Malcolm Powder Hi Malcom I’m not doubting what your saying but if that’s the case feel only why stop at the 7iron? I’m interested to know what the loft is between 7-8 iron because manufacturers don’t like to adjust the lofts more than 3 degrees if there is going to be a gap, Titleist won’t change your lofts by more than 3 degrees if your doing a combo set because it alters the lie of the club.
Thank you for your reply just thought I’d ask as they do look nice irons but I’m more Titleist or Mizuno.
7 iron loft is 33, 8 iron is 37.
Forget the foam. They're just looking to give more help to the longer clubs.
Liam Francomb That’s exactly my point a pro would it further than that, yes Mark is a pro and a good one at that when he was younger, I know it’s not all about distance that’s why I think there would be a gapping problem? I would expect Mark to hit a wedge between 120-130 yards.
@@geordietoonforlife.1155 From everything I've heard and read about these irons, the lofts are designed to gap properly between the faster long irons and the one piece short irons. As was said above, Speedfoam is marketing nonsense for sound and vibration dampening. It just helps feel, it doesn't jack up ballspeed
Speedfoam for a extra fast shave , the best a man can get bruh.
What? Nice TM club review!
Am I tuned in to the correct channel?
I always hear the foam makes the hollow clunky head feel more like a forged blade..the stronger loft is the distance part
Not a big fan of Taylormade irons, but these are quite nice. Not looking for irons right now, but I would defiantly try these. Wheres the Taylormade #brandambassador Ray? Shaka Brah!
Interesting you mention your height, how tall are you both to go for 1 degree flat? I'm 6'1 is and have always played standard length and lie clubs (really can't afford custom fit, I'm a lowly teacher and father of 2!)
Also, not entirely sure why I'm watching reviews of irons that cost £1300 I'll stick with my used AP2s
All companies engage in the marketing guff that is mostly BS but TM always takes it to a whole new level.
Love it when you get all pillow talk with Dan.
It is impossible that foam in the cavity would increase ball speed...it is possible that it could change sensations, to that of a forged club in what is a closed cavity.
As the late, great Max Faulkner said....to hit if further, hit it a bloody sight harder.....simples.
something I wish you (and other reviewers) would do is also mention the price of irons/drivers, etc when testing and reviewing, because budget is still a big part of any players decision making.. over here (Norway) these are selling at 13,000nok (so about £1200..!! ) which seems a bit excessively priced, even if it does have a fast sponge in it. Are they really that much better than say, AP2, which come it at a still costly, £200 cheaper?
Stick with AP2. Irons are more than enough already.
his said it before theres no point discussing prices, cause it varies by your own personal circumstances
@@Aaron-sn9zv a matter of opinion. For the vast majority of ppl, budget is still a factor.
Well said Alan, budget defo comes into it for me and everyone I play with 👍🏌️♂️
Price is all relative, and is country specific. £1,200 is very affordable when you put that against some Callaway clubs, or the real high end like PXG etc. Conversely, £700 is pretty expensive if your budget is only £500.
Mark has mentioned in the past that he doesn't look at the price of clubs when he reviews them, as he doesn't want the price to potentially influence the review. Makes sense to me, and so for the prospective buyer, it's then not hard to go out and find the price with a quick Google search.
Budget only comes in to the buying decision, it shouldn't really have a place in a performance review.
I just don't get it: Hoillow constructions are praised as a new achievement, but my old MacGregor M685 forged have this for 10 years and are an absolutely pleasure to hit. These Taylor Made clubs could be a replacement when my M685 fall apart one day...
You simply cannot put a substance (foam) with a low COR behind a club face and not dissipate energy inside the foam
that would not have been dissipated with a hollow body. If Titleist were to put a layer of that same foam under the
cover of the ProV1 would anything think that would make the ball go faster/further?
I would probably guess the actual loft of this 7 iron is more towards 34 than 33 due to your spin numbers. Do you occasionally measure the lie and loft stated by the manufacture before testing? This is a huge part I might believe the audience never evaluate looking this reviews. Am I wrong? Just a very important factor presenting the numbers we are being shown. Cheers Playaaaa
I prefer their P770’s.
Good looking clubs its a shame they spoil it with the word speed foam 🙄. Some people on youtube with cameras do love it 👀😏
I can't wait for Mark's review of the new #ScrewMyFace Taylormade M5/M6 drivers….
Mark's marketing philosophy:
"Our iron looks as good as any!"
Customer: So... Why should I buy it then???
Taylormade are ruled by the marketing department. Everything has to be about speed and distance. That kind of strategy belongs in the nineties.
I work at a golf retail store that offers these to the public and we have some demo heads for them. So in my off time I've hit them and they feel great. obviously only the longer clubs have the speedfoam so they're going to be a little more forgiving if you don't get solid contact. and they don't have the speed pocket so ball speed might be the same if you were comparing them to the 790s. im glad they went with the 760 and did away with the 750 and 770s. they were the same design but just slightly different sized heads. a manufacturer doesn't need 4 players clubs, two fo them being cavity backs. I don't really like the design of it though. not a fan of the slits on the back. but if they didn't do that it would almost be like the Titleist CB
Get up Dan changing his irons 🤔
Not positive but my guess is all the "speed foam" does is deaden the sound/feel of a 2 piece club. Therefore making it appear to feel softer. Same concept as packing cotton balls in a driver head. The term SpeedFoam is just a bunch of marketing B.S. used on us golfers (the most gullible people on the planet).
How does the feel compare to mizuno?
Just tested the P760 against the JPX 919 Forged and Tour and liked the feel of the 760 much better. The Mizuno's felt good of course, but the 760's were incredible. I now have a set on order.
TM must hate this review, after all you only say bad things about them whilst praising your paymasters 🤣
Cmon Taylormade let's bury the hatchet and get a good relationship going with Mark.
I'm sure an email and a phone call could sort things out. Rory plays Taylormade clubs. You could hook him up with new clubs / gear and show that TM is a cool company.
Speed foam has nothing to do with how far you can hit a ball, it's all to do with how it sounds. End of story. It's still a nice looking iron.
Mark's a robot :O that dispersion is not normal....
I don't think I've ever seen you have such consistent spin numbers - if the speedfoam is helping achieve that even a li'll bit, then why would you want to give that up? ( As a wise man once said)
Am I the only one that doesn’t like the looks of these? I play similar category irons (Srixon z745) and I think they look far better. I’m not anti Taylormade, I think the P730’s are one of the prettiest clubs ever made, but the back of that P760 does not look nice to me.
Duffy Moon got to say they look much better in real life
Still doing swing review mate?
Short ? How tall are you and Dan ?
Im just dont understand parfield, always coming out with an honest review. You even said you would game this iron, wish TM would wake up and just give you clubs to review.Obviously Titleist has no problem with you reviewing other manufacturers clubs why should they... #speedfoam got some in a can if you need some..
Mark should give some good reviews of TM for a year then just stop reviewing them or talking about them at all.
TM will probably start sending him clubs.
Similar bracket to callaway x forged ?
More expesiver.....1400$ new
Surely Speed Foam is a contradiction. Have you ever seen foam increasing the speed of anything?
I dont really care what brand anyone plays. I just dont get this anti marketing stand so many people take. They spent the money on R&D to make a product to try to help their customers. All brands follow this same buisness model. Some do it with big displays and names that stick on your head. Others do it more low key but instead sponcer more players to spread the word for them. Do you want it to become like other sports? Baseball, lacross, hockey go into your sporting goods store theirs just a rack of different brands thrown together. Theres no money put into it so you wont even notice it if your not looking. Golf stores will be the size of a dressing room with only option being some ping eye 2s with old big bertha driver and the original Newport 2. Black foot Joy's and some golf knickers. Get rid of marketing and new products and you start to get rid of the game.
Gorgeous looking head.. felt a little weird off the face imo... didn’t exactly feel like a forged
