This was the standard of the time. Peter the Great tortured and killed his eldest son. ‘Good’ politicians care more about protecting their interests than their own family.
wonderful 🤗 this is full of cheer spirit but unalike anything i've ever come accross. Catherine and Peter are so fun. this film is VERY special.... i believe Peter becomes sort of Catherine's spirit animal, in a sense, as he's very inspiring to her because he's blowing /awakening the spirit of the coyote in her and instinctively she feels she needs this very unusual asset to become an true ruler in that political environment. see '' coyote '' in the gallery of native-american animal totems, that's exaclty what Peter and Catherine have in common. that's why they can be on the same wavelength and feel joy in the presence of each other, and grow found of each other. Peter has the coyote spirit in him, and it is very strong. i think the coyote spirit plays Peter, but Catherine learns the opposite. she is learning to play the coyote spirit, consciously, deliberatly. in a wise way. in the way of the Jedi. the coyote spirit (and her intelligence and kind heart) becomes her political asset, it makes her a woman of power, and that's wonderful to see. that's how she earns his respect and esteem. and the respect and esteem of her followers. that's why she can love Peter in a way, coyote humour. it's a very special kind of humour. this film is precious to me because it allows us to experience the spirit of the coyote, which is a weapon against adversity, that is both wise and sparkling with craziness. thanks to this great film series, we can experience it first hand without having to live in close contact with someone as insane as Peter. Catherine is doing really well. those two are so good in channelling the coyote spirit, and it's also good that she says she kind of love him, in a way, but she loves Russia more. this film series is full of wisdom. i call this type of wisdom, the coyote wisdom. (crazy and wise) _ we do not need to be psychopaths or sociopaths to understand the cheerfulness, as this film shows us the wisdom as well. there is empathy and compassion in Catherine. she is full of the coyote spirit in an enlightened way, unlike Peter. i find the delivery of the actors absolutely fabulous. it's exilarating and ridiculous. thank you for sharing 🌺 🙏 💛 i love this ! 🌟 🙏
It definitely did for me. Because it says it's not truthful in the title card, I watch it with the wiki page open and check what really happened as I go along. Both the irl story and the show are so interesting!
This one is a satire and is not supposed to be very accurate but a parody of the events, beliefs and people of the time. The Russian drama is more like a documentary.
"you're a little boy who thinks he does but you fucking don't."

PocariPawis she was Peter’s real-life predecessor, so she probably ends up being ruler at some point.
@@c0ronariu5 we know that, of course, but it is not that will stop the show of some complots and murder
I can't stand her
Is this why dress don't have pockets anymore?
Explains so much! 😂
I wish I had been terrible … in many ways you were 😂
In many ways you were...are!
Aunt Elizabeth is the best character
Essa série devia ter mais reconhecimento! 💕💕
Também acho
love this show
Ivan was prosoned to psychosis, they were terrible people and then killed an innocent person

I thought Aunt Elizabeth was supposed to be Empress Elizabeth. Correct me if I'm wrong.
The show is a satire and they make it very obvious that it's not trying to be an accurate portrayal of history.
@@1sTEfFaniE1 oh I see. That's why its an "occasionally true story" 😅
@@angelgrace8037 lol exactly!

Wow dear, this is an essay, not a comment.
What is the name of this moive
It's not a movie but a show called The Great
So who was ivan in relation to Peter and Catherine?
And Ivan died
Did Elizabeth know about the coo
Great fun but not truthful at all to the real times. Might get some interested in real history though.
To be fair it never claims to be fully factual or accurate

It has an * right under its name.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
The Russian version is far better
Where can I watch the russian version
