The guy said something about how he wouldn't see many more sunsets. Dad said, "Well, let's get you another one," and flew them up a few thousand more feet to watch another sunset. Anybody who says the earth is flat is calling my dad a liar.
I’ve seen the same thing from a plane. On take off it was ten minutes after sunset. Within a couple of minutes around 3-4000 feet it was light again. Another 2000 and it was daylight again. 20 odd minutes later it set for good. Then 3 hours later it was sunrise! I have all the photos
You can do this without a drone by simply lying on the ground and as soon as the sun has totally set, quickly stand up and you will see the sun again and then you can watch it set for a second time.

This is an awesome experiment. There are so many personal observations you can do to confirm a round Earth without having to rely on what you've been told in textbooks and NASA videos. Once you go higher in altitude the angle or resolution gets bigger again and you see it. You old do the experiment on a gym floor. Put a coin 50 feet away, lay down on the ground, can you see it, maybe but barely, stand up and you'll see the coin more clearly. This doesn't prove the gym floor is curved. It's basic perspective.
We wouldn't see the sun disappear from our sight if the earth was flat, instead we would see the sun moving away becoming smaller and smaller, this would give a rather strange night. Sorry but the earth is spherical...

Well, the earth is at a 23° tilt so during winter, the northern hemisphere doesn't get as much sunlight because the north pole is pointed away from the sun, but the south pole is pointed towards the sun so the sun never sets there for a long period

Flat earthers are really ignorant, the moon is 384000 km away, and the reason airplanes can't fly there is because they use air to have thrust to fly, at high altitudes there is no sufficient air for the airplane to fly, in the space there is none. If the Earth was flat, first there would be no clearly defined horizon over level water or terrain. Viewing from a higher altitude would make no difference once you rise above the obstructing objects in the foreground. The fact that we can see farther from higher altitudes proves we live on a curved surface.
that's not true. Think of street lights as the converge towards a horizon. If you went higher you would most certainly see more of them because your vanishing point changes. At ground level they all become mush and bleed together into the horizon/vanishing point. If you went and climbed a mountain right next to you you would most certainly look down see more street lights!

Yes the sun is literally a big grow lamp but on a enormous scale doing 24 hr rotations just above the clouds... we can replicate the sun on a tiny scale indoors, even change the indoor season by manipulating the hours of light to speed up the fruition process towards an earlier harvesting... its just simple logic

In fact look very very closely at the second pass of the video where it moves slowly. There are buildings in silhouette from the first perspective. 1:41 The drone starts out low enough that the tops of the buildings are above the horizon line. 1:52 When the drone gains altitude the buildings DROP below the horizon line. But this proves 100% NOTHING about the area revealed around those buildings. Try it in Google Earth and you'll find that if you go 6 miles from a major city as you zoom toward the ground the tops of buildings disappear. The horizon distance on earth is just over 12 miles at 30 meters up, and about 3 miles at 1 meter. If we saw buildings appear in the distance that would have been really spectacular, but the position of the SUN is all the proof that should be needed (unless someone believes in fake perspective math, high altitude mystical optical properties, or other lunacy).

So in the round earth model, if the sun has gone behind the curve of the earth, one only has to go up 300 feet to see the sun once again? But since the curvature of the earth is 8 inches per mile, that would make the sun approximately 400 miles away if it was to be seen again at 300 feet. I can't help but see how so many in the comments think this confirms a rotating globe. Its quite the opposite. We know that the drone is not able to catch up with the supposed 1000 mph rotation of the earth. The world record for a drones climb rate is around 117 mph, so we are not out pacing the alleged rotation of the globe with the drone because that would be impossible. Elevation increases viewing distance, and thats what is happening here. You are not seeing any rotation, you are just seeing farther.

My dad did this for a guy who was terminally ill. Dad took him up in his little airplane one evening, and they watched the sun set from up there. The guy said something about how he wouldn't see many more sunsets. Dad said, "Well, let's get you another one," and flew them up a few thousand more feet to watch another sunset.

I’ve seen the same thing from a plane. On take off it was ten minutes after sunset. Within a couple of minutes around 3-4000 feet it was light again. Another 2000 and it was daylight again. 20 odd minutes later it set for good. Then 3 hours later it was sunrise! I have all the photos

You can do this without a drone by simply lying on the ground and as soon as the sun has totally set, quickly stand up and you will see the sun again and then you can watch it set for a second time.

This is an awesome experiment. There are so many personal observations you can do to confirm a round Earth without having to rely on what you've been told in textbooks and NASA videos. Although there is no doubt that flat-Earthers will just hide behind one-point perspective and atmospheric distortion as an explanation for this as they do for all evidence.

@@classicpinball9873 explain how? The sun "sets" just like every object at distance. the angle of resolution gets smaller, the atmosphere becomes more dense and it appears to vanish. Once you go higher in altitude the angle or resolution gets bigger again and you see it. You old do the experiment on a gym floor. Put a coin 50 feet away, lay down on the ground, can you see it, maybe but barely, stand up and you'll see the coin more clearly. This doesn't prove the gym floor is curved. It's basic perspective.

The moon is not 2d. The moon viewed from the southern Hemisphere looks flipped. How the fuck does scientifically prove that you live on a ball? And on a psychological level it is really sad to see what indoctrination does to people. You know that science is about constant inquiry right? Its funny you say "nothing can convince those who dont want it" because you are simply describing yourself my friend and you dont even realize it. 99.9% of people that now know they dont live on a spinning ball, like you still do, believed they did 1-5 years ago. That alone proves you wrong as they were open minded and adjusted their beliefs/knowledge. If you actually took physics in highschool or Uni than you would be an absolute idiot and failure if you were not able to admit that there are way too many flaws in the heliocentric model. Ill give you the most basic. If you claim its a ball, a spirit or water level than actually becomes a center of gravity locating device. Now I use on everyday and I know it is not. It also implies that you truly believe if you draw a straight and level line with a spirit level over a distance of lets say three miles, you would obtain a curved line, which in reality you would not. I dont know where we are but I do know its not a ball flying through space at 2.1 million km per hour.

Moving up would NOT bring it back into view if it were simply moving away from us.

I did this ones, spur of the moment. Was in a hotel, looked down the hall out the window and saw the sun set. I then jumped in the elevator and went up 3-4 floors, jumped out, and saw it again, for like 1-2 seconds!

Well, the earth is at a 23° tilt so during winter, the northern hemisphere doesn't get as much sunlight because the north pole is pointed away from the sun, but the south pole is pointed towards the sun so the sun never sets there for a long period

the sun circles the north pole in a tighter circle in the northern hemisphere's summer, and then over 6 months that circle gets bigger (it gradually goes inbetween the tropics throughout the year). So when the sun is making it's smallest circle you can catch it's light all day. And in the antarctic basin it would be too far away to see the sun at all during that time of year.

Flat earthers are really ignorant, the moon is 384000 km away, and the reason airplanes can't fly there is because they use air to have thrust to fly, at high altitudes there is no sufficient air for the airplane to fly, in the space there is none. In order to leave the atmosphere you need rockets and not jet engines.
We need to know the latitude to do a good Earth radius calculation. Can you tell us which city this is in?

If the Earth was flat, first there would be no clearly defined horizon over level water or terrain. Viewing from a higher altitude would make no difference once you rise above the obstructing objects in the foreground. The fact that we can see farther from higher altitudes proves we live on a curved surface.
that's not true. Think of street lights as the converge towards a horizon. If you went higher you would most certainly see more of them because your vanishing point changes. At ground level they all become mush and bleed together into the horizon/vanishing point. If you went and climbed a mountain right next to you you would most certainly look down see more street lights!

As for the sun it vanishes because the atmosphere is too thick. There's so much density that ot becomes invisible. So the telescope works in the first instance but not the second.

for the absolutely silly Heliocentric model, the ball's surface speed runs between 300 to 1000 MPH and at the very latitude where I am, the surface speed is 804 MPH, super sonic so East West conversations should be impossible, but all the structures around me still stand in spite of the fact that wind always resists and you would think surface speed faster than Mach 1 would make a difference.
Sadly, the ball's rotation has never been proved and the failure to show movement caused Einstein's relatively theory so then we all became confused because it could be the ball but it was just as likely not, everything being relative and all...

I called out surface speed... Do you understand what MPH stands for? Miles per hour. Distance over time. Speed is calculated like that, so if the ball spins 360 degrees in 24 hours (or 1 revolution per day) and its greatest girth is its 24, 000 mile circumference at the equator has traveled 24, 000 miles in 24 hours which makes this this math problem look like this: 24,000 miles/24 hours = 1000 miles/ hour. At my latitude the surface speed is 804 MPH... Still have a problem with that?

Yes the sun is literally a big grow lamp but on a enormous scale doing 24 hr rotations just above the clouds... we can replicate the sun on a tiny scale indoors, even change the indoor season by manipulating the hours of light to speed up the fruition process towards an earlier harvesting... its just simple logic

Look at the sun, not to the horizon.
In fact look very very closely at the second pass of the video where it moves slowly. There are buildings in silhouette from the first perspective.
1:41 The drone starts out low enough that the tops of the buildings are above the horizon line.
1:52 When the drone gains altitude the buildings DROP below the horizon line.
But this proves 100% NOTHING about the area revealed around those buildings. Try it in Google Earth and you'll find that if you go 6 miles from a major city as you zoom toward the ground the tops of buildings disappear. The horizon distance on earth is just over 12 miles at 30 meters up, and about 3 miles at 1 meter. If we saw buildings appear in the distance that would have been really spectacular, but the position of the SUN is all the proof that should be needed (unless someone believes in fake perspective math, high altitude mystical optical properties, or other lunacy).

So in the round earth model, if the sun has gone behind the curve of the earth, one only has to go up 300 feet to see the sun once again? But since the curvature of the earth is 8 inches per mile, that would make the sun approximately 400 miles away if it was to be seen again at 300 feet. But we are told the sun is 93 million miles away. What are the RE's smoking?

I can't help but see how so many in the comments think this confirms a rotating globe. Its quite the opposite. We know that the drone is not able to catch up with the supposed 1000 mph rotation of the earth. The world record for a drones climb rate is around 117 mph, so we are not out pacing the alleged rotation of the globe with the drone because that would be impossible. Elevation increases viewing distance, and thats what is happening here. You are not seeing any rotation, you are just seeing farther.

that's about 0,0007 RPM, not a huge speed by any means. It's constant speed, you can be travelling at 1 million mph on vacuum and from your point of view you would be motionless.
Also, as said, that's the drone initial speed, it didn't just materialize from nothing with zero absolute speed, it was at rest at Earth's surface which was already rotating.
