Do these LED bulbs work for low beam and high beam?
Do you recommend replacing both high and low halogens with these bulbs?
Thanks!
@@ChrisOteman Hi Chris, yes but the link in the description are for the low beams. These are for the high beams if replacing both like I did to match. amzn.to/4bTS0JA
Sounds good, thanks.
Do you find the low beam ones are bright enough?
I noticed that they are some similar looking ones on Amazon that claim are even brighter, 30,000lm etc.
@@ChrisOteman Yes sir!
I tore up my hands last time I had to change a bulb. This is gold!! Ty!
Exactly why I posted this as I did the same and wanted to help others with a better solution. 👍
Great tutorial as always! Love seeing you step into a new realm of videos
Thank you! It’s hard for me to stay in one small niche 😂. Have a great weekend!
I’ve got a 2019 high altitude and instead of a cover that twists off it’s a rubber boot that you just need to pull off. In case anyone was wondering. Thanks for the video :)
G Money, thank you for watching and leaving the helpful comment! Did you upgrade yours with the LED’s?
Fat shout for this comment! I should have read it before trying to twist. Would’ve saved me 10 minutes of frustration 😊
Definitely using this next time my #grandcherokee needs a headlight changed. Nice explanation!
Thank you and good plan!
Thanks for this video, was the best, the rest were made to complicated
Thanks so much, glad it was helpful! Quick questions, should I make a part 2 video that shows how to make the DIY PVC bulb removal tool and did you upgrade to LED?
Thanks for the information had to make the PVC pipe tool to remove passenger side
You’re welcome, I’m glad it helped! Does it feel good to save a bunch of cash from doing it yourself vs taking it to the dealership?
Thank you, my new good friend. Saved myself from paying$1500 at the dealership.
Thanks so much, glad it was helpful! Quick questions, should I make a part 2 video that shows how to make the DIY PVC bulb removal tool and did you upgrade to LED?
Whoa! This is gonna save my hubby a couple hundred dollars! And his hands! Thanks!! #savingmoney #carrepairs
Agreed. No reason to pay the stealership if you don’t need to or cut up your hands!
helpful walk through - thanks Dan! 👍🏼
like the night time road footage at the end - cool touch!
Thank you, much appreciated! Did you happen to see the deers?
Oh yea! There they are on the right side! lol...had to go back and watch - missed them the first time around. We have a lot by me too. they come running out of nowhere and scare the crap out of me.
@@OverOut Installing LED’s are a game changer seeing them much sooner. 😂 I hear you, sometimes it seems like I pass half of the zoo on the way home. It’s not uncommon to pass 5 different types of animals during a 10 minute span.
🤣@@inspiringbuilds
Great video. Following you now.
Thanks James, welcome aboard! Did you happen to upgrade to LED?
Thank you for the great tutorial and showing how this can be done safely and and more efficiently. Dealerships probably know this shortcut but don’t want to share cause then they would loose business. Appreciate you putting this video together. Haven’t seen this option before.
Thank you, I appreciate it!
Great video I saved $200 off what the dealer would have charged me. Driver side was much harder due to the dealer pinching the harness against the bulb housing when they replaced the bulb in 2023. I had to gently disconnect the harness holding the bulb BEFORE twisting to remove the burnt-out bulb. You need pretty good strength to twist out the old bulbs and having smaller hands helps. I recommend wearing a set of surgical gloves to prevent skin loss on your hands. I did replace the halogens with the LED's recommended in this video from Amazon for about $40. They appear to be much brighter and whiter than the halogens. I can't wait to give them a try them out on a dark country road tonight. Thanks for posting this video its great!
You’re welcome, thanks for watching and the comment. I’m glad you got a nice cost savings. Not only it feels good to do it yourself, but know it’s done right. 👍
I’m interested to do the same, replacing with LED bulbs, did you just replace the bulbs or didn’t you have to install anything else to make them work properly?
@@ChrisOteman Hi Chris, just replacing the bulb with the link provided and it’s plug and play. Nothing else is needed. 👍
@@ChrisOteman Nothing else needed although I will say I'm not satisfied with the LED bulbs and will try to adjust them. Not seeing dramatic improvement over the stock halogens at this point. It's possible that things will get better after I try to realign the lights.
@@rvan7350 are they brighter and light up the road better than the halogens?
Is it just the placement/ beam of the light or the brightness and colour?
Mine was on the driver side… don’t even bother going through the wheel well, my 7mnth old wouldnt even be able to get her hand in there… But, after removing the air filter housing it opened it up a bit, still hard to get leverage and you’re pretty much blind while doing it. All that being said it’s doable if you have some time on ur hands save the money! Appreciate the vid!
Thanks Marcus. I agree the wheel well is next to impossible and will tear up your hands. If needed to help for stubborn bulbs in the future this is a tool that can be used made out of PVC. ibb.co/ncdRfb7. I bet it feels good getting it done yourself and saving the cash from not paying the dealership!
Great tips, my passenger bulb is stuck. Do you have a photo of the pvc pipe you described??
Hi Mo, thank you. This isn’t a great photo, but I do my best to help everyone on my channel. Hopefully this helps you and let me know if it doesn’t work. ibb.co/ncdRfb7
I just did this today. It worked. My hands were too big, so my son removed the bulbs. He's 12 😂😂😂
Great to start him young and good to hear that it worked for you. Have you considered making a removal tool with a small section of pvc pipe cutting a groove 3/4 of an inch back to fit around the base of the bulb to use in the future? 😂 This may help if he’s at school.
@inspiringbuilds I thought about it, but my daughter is going to be 3 in 2 months. She's next up to bat at the plate 😂😂😂
@@rsar5678 😂 love it, takes care of the tight space and teaches them young that we need to do more of. Did you replace with halogen or get the bright LED’s? The LED’s have been a game changer with increased visibility.
@@inspiringbuilds I replaced them with h11. I bought h11 when the passenger side went out and had to hug the bumper to change it 😂😂😂
@@rsar5678 😂 Hopefully you don’t have to change them again for a long time!
What kills me is they made oil changes a breeze with the top filter, but then made the headlights a pain. I can change the oil faster than headlights.
I was there with you and it’s why I made the video to try to make it easier for others. Now I can do both sides in under 15 minutes. 👍
The Ford Fusion you have to take the entire bumper off to change a light bulb. This is cake compared to that. The engineers aren't designing these machines anymore the accountants are.
@@pmccoy8924 Agreed, thanks for watching.
Does that LED bulb require one of those CANBUS adapters on these Jeeps? I have a 2019. Also, great tutorial. Thanks for that PVC trick. I might need to try that on my passenger side since it doesn't want to budge.
Thank you. The passenger side is tough without small hands or the PVC tool. It is possible with your left hand as I show or from underneath but I try to do it all from the top to avoid tearing up my hands. The LED bulbs are cheap and require no adapters, they are plug and play just like the halogens and here is the link.
LED Bulbs: amzn.to/48FgYde
Cool. Thanks again. I think I'll have to give them a try. My last halogens only lasted about 2 years and with how much of a pain these are I'm willing to try something new. Hopefully they last.
They last longer (50k hours) and have been a game changer for better visibility for me. 👍

Seems like much easier access since engineers seem to hate mechanics.😂
I’m glad I’m not the only one that feels that way. Some cars I work on are German so I blamed it on German engineering, but they continue to make it more difficult for all makes. Definitely easier this way without cutting up your hands. Have a great weekend!
@inspiringbuilds I spent 4 years in Germany, I 100% get it.🤣 Have a great weekend Dan!
Driver side worked, but passenger side has the coolant in the way on '16 Grand Cherokee.
Update: went under the coolant and was able to reach it pretty easily. 👌🏾
Great to hear, I hope the video was helpful. Did you happen to upgrade to the LED bulbs?
@@inspiringbuilds Yup 👍🏾 worked like a charm.
Awesome, have a great weekend!
Wow, so much easier!
I’m glad it helped!
I must have the only 2017 Grand Cherokee on the planet that has a setup not allowing bulb changes. Driver side low and highs not working. Mine looks nothing like this and when pulling that round plastic cover off after romoving the air box, there appears to be a metallic braided harness attached to a plug that's attached to a shiny square metallic box about 2 inches by 2 inches. It will not budge. The high beam has NO wire or connector anywhere to be found. Looks like a sealed unit. On some of these Jeeps, do you have to replace the entire headlamp?
Hi Gary, I’m sure that’s very frustrating. Most total headlight failures are caused by a bad component like a fuse, relay, or module. Wiring problems can also cause both headlights to stop working. It’s possible that the previous owner installed aftermarket lights, which is why it’s different but you should not have to replace the headlight assembly.
@@inspiringbuilds I checked the fuses, they are fine. Tested voltage at the harness and have voltage. Found out that some models you have to replace the entire headlamp unit. These HID units are a ton of fun. Might have to take it to the dealer I'm afraid.
@@inspiringbuilds Forgot to say thanks. You're reply is much appreciated. Also, I'm the original owner.
Hi Gary, knowing you’re the original owner and they are HID saves a ton of time and makes perfect sense. HID’s come with a small metal box and braided wire harness as you mentioned. The trick that many people don’t talk about is the metal box has two tabs with one on each side. A tab on one side is higher and a tab on the other side is typically lower. Feel for the tabs and push the low side tab up and push the high side tab down. This may end up saving you upwards of $450 at the dealership. 👍
💪🏾‼️‼️
Thanks so much, glad it was helpful! Quick questions, should I make a part 2 video that shows how to make the DIY PVC bulb removal tool and did you upgrade to LED?
@@inspiringbuilds yea I upgraded to LED , pvc bulb removal too would be cool but I use any tool that give me leverage while turning …BUT if u can make a video where u find a easier way to change the fog lights that will be golden 🔥
I'll take "what were the engineers thinking" for $500 Alex. So stupid to have access in the wheel well. Nice and easy alternative though. I'm sure the Jeepers will appreciate it.
😂 that’s what I thought too. They’re continuing to make it harder for mechanics to DIY. Appreciate the support and laugh. I struggled the first time and figured there had to be another way so definitely hoping it will help other Jeep owners! 👍
They were thinking "Don't try this at home - go to one of our dealerships where they'll charge a fortune for labor and the bulb will cost more too!"
@@nickkemp1434 💯 they were and do get a lot of people for over $200 which I find insane. Were you able to get yours changed? Thanks for watching and the comment. 👍
I tried to change passenger side no way could I get my hand in to turn bulb
Hi Peter. Thanks for watching! I’d recommend trying the PVC tool method I describe in the video. 👍
@@inspiringbuilds I tried but bulb was turned in a strange position ended up having to take it in they had to remove the bumper to get it out
No baby hands...I'm going through the top
That’s the way to do it, avoid getting your hands tore up!
Not helpful at all. How bout explaining how to twist the bulb out
I showed both sides in detail. For the bulb they simple twist about a quarter turn and pulls straight out.
Great tips, my passenger bulb is stuck. Do you have a photo of the pvc pipe you described??
