I watched several 2014 Jeep GK LED install videos and this is the best, especially for people like me who don't work on cars for a living. Removal of the parts was easy to follow and I appreciate seeing the force needed to remove the air intake parts. Most other videos gloss over this issue. I had no concerns when I removed mine.

@@inspiringbuilds There is a short UA-cam video on making a thin wall PVC tool for the Jeep headlights I have. Do a search and it should pop up. I re-ordered the bulbs I was going to use having seen the original 90 degree plug-in style on my 2014 Jeep GC. I'll install them when they arrive in a couple of days.
I’ve got a 2019 high altitude and instead of a cover that twists off it’s a rubber boot that you just need to pull off. In case anyone was wondering. Thanks for the video :)
That rubber boot (I also have a 2019 GC) is horrible. Makes it much harder to get in their to get at the bulb. I got my driver side one replaced (which was out). I gave up on trying to replace my passenger side (which is still working).
2019 Grand Cherokee Limited and mine was also a rubber cover that had to be pulled off. Video helped. All i know is Chrysler owns Jeep and Chrysler is known to hide their car batteries, so don't ever try to replace that yourself lol.
Great video I saved $200 off what the dealer would have charged me. Driver side was much harder due to the dealer pinching the harness against the bulb housing when they replaced the bulb in 2023. I had to gently disconnect the harness holding the bulb BEFORE twisting to remove the burnt-out bulb. You need pretty good strength to twist out the old bulbs and having smaller hands helps. I recommend wearing a set of surgical gloves to prevent skin loss on your hands. I did replace the halogens with the LED's recommended in this video from Amazon for about $40. They appear to be much brighter and whiter than the halogens. I can't wait to give them a try them out on a dark country road tonight. Thanks for posting this video its great!

I am not that big of a guy but do have pretty big hands and without your suggestion of the pvc I would have struggle much longer (I knew I was going to need some additional leverage to turn that bulb but was having a hard time coming up with the right thing; the notched pvc was the ticket). I agree engineers made this much more difficult than needed and I cut up my hand pretty good the first time going through the port hole and wanted to find a way to help others. Couple of quick questions - Do you think a part 2 video would help those needing to make the PVC tool and did you decide to upgrade to LED for better visibility and not having to mess with changing them again for a long long time?
Might help some on making the pvc tool as that seems to be the way to go; I knew what you meant so I was good without it. I went with some Silvers as I wanted to keep the color looking somewhat similar to the rest of my front lights; they are slightly whiter than stock but not noticeable looking at vehicle. I suspect they are also a bit brighter too.
@@JustinCheely-l2b Thanks for watching. The high beams are much easier as they are on the inner part of the headlight vs low beams on the outer part tucked in a much tighter spot. They are not behind the cap and you can see the high beam bulb at 1:38 in the video.

Changing 2019 grand cherokee low bulb this weekend thanks to ya. Curious what bulbs does it use for low beams wanna def make the switch to led was curious if there was a cheaper option than these bulbs. Also do they throw fault codes?
My only regret is not doing it sooner. The low beams uses an H11. This one is 33% off currently so $40 instead of $60 and click the coupon for another 20% off to make it $16 per bulb. They do not throw codes and they plug in just like the OEM ones. amzn.to/4f7Wej3

I must have the only 2017 Grand Cherokee on the planet that has a setup not allowing bulb changes. Driver side low and highs not working. Mine looks nothing like this and when pulling that round plastic cover off after romoving the air box, there appears to be a metallic braided harness attached to a plug that's attached to a shiny square metallic box about 2 inches by 2 inches. It will not budge. The high beam has NO wire or connector anywhere to be found. Looks like a sealed unit. On some of these Jeeps, do you have to replace the entire headlamp?
Hi Gary, I’m sure that’s very frustrating. Most total headlight failures are caused by a bad component like a fuse, relay, or module. Wiring problems can also cause both headlights to stop working. It’s possible that the previous owner installed aftermarket lights, which is why it’s different but you should not have to replace the headlight assembly.
@@inspiringbuilds I checked the fuses, they are fine. Tested voltage at the harness and have voltage. Found out that some models you have to replace the entire headlamp unit. These HID units are a ton of fun. Might have to take it to the dealer I'm afraid.
Hi Gary, knowing you’re the original owner and they are HID saves a ton of time and makes perfect sense. HID’s come with a small metal box and braided wire harness as you mentioned. The trick that many people don’t talk about is the metal box has two tabs with one on each side. A tab on one side is higher and a tab on the other side is typically lower. Feel for the tabs and push the low side tab up and push the high side tab down. This may end up saving you upwards of $450 at the dealership. 👍

@@KendallWalsh-p7r Sliding off the ECU as shown in the video would have had no impact of throwing a CEL. You can hook up a OBDII scanner to pull the code or take it to a local auto parts store to pull the code for free. You can also pull the negative battery terminal to reset the light and if it comes back then there is an issue that needs addressed.

This is great, but ive been struggling with twisting the bulb out. I dont have big hands, however, I can only get about 2 to 3 fingers in there to twist the bulb out. The metal frame behind it is preventing me from getting much room (2019). I see the PVC tool you posted a pic of and i did something similar. Very good video! I changed the low beam headlights in my 2014 Grand Cherokee with LEDs. The low beam works fine (much brighter and now a nice white light) except I don't get the Daytime Running Light feature from that new LED. I suspect the LED will only come on with full power and, therefore, won't light up with reduced power supplied for the DRL feature. The DRL feature is selected in the 8.4 inch infotainment system. So, for now I use the "parking lights" as DRLs (which were also changed to LED lights) and they are OK as a daytime light. I put a switchback LED (Amber/White) in the turn signal slots and that comes on when the parking lights are activated using the interior light switch to the left of the steering wheel. Has anyone else solved this DRL LED light feature as I described here?
Hi Tim, thanks for watching. I spent a while looking into this for you. Did you buy the bulbs I have linked as I checked multiple JGC’s with no issues? I know this may sound silly but get a helper or I test in the daylight against a dark colored car that I could see my headlights. Your DRL’s will only turn on when in gear so when you put it in park and get out to check then they will show off. Stay in the car and point your lights against the dark colored car and test that they turn on in gear and then turn off in park. I confirmed they worked with this method. Lastly, in Uconnect go to settings - lights - daytime running lights and ensure the box is checked. Hope this helps and look forward to having you watch future videos. 👍
@@inspiringbuilds Thanks much for the reply and I appreciate your research time very much! I should have mentioned that I installed an upgrade Uconnect 8.4 inch system from Infotainment that has CarPlay a few days before upgrading the lights to LEDs. The new Uconnect system can take a day, or two, and sometimes more to learn from my Jeep's onboard computer what functions I have turned on/off as well as heated seats, heated steering wheel, etc. And I think getting used to the LED lights is one of those "learning" functions as well. I had the DRL function checked in "System" section, but they did not come on in the first day or two of driving the car with these new LEDs. Now they come each time I put the transmission in Drive. Also, the turn signals worked just fine on the first use. Now they still work but I get a hyer-flash of the turn signal indicator on the dash, but the actual signals flash at the normal interval. Kinda odd. And I have gotten the turn signal "Left or Right Bulb Out" warning a couple of times as well, but not always. And yes, I installed the LEDs you listed with your video and I am happy with them. I may need a special harness to solve the turn signal issue, but as long as the exterior signals are operating correctly, I'm going to research that a bit further since I am not presently endangering myself or another driver. Again, thanks for feedback - much appreciated, my friend!

@@jonathangiven9073 Thanks for watching. Were you able to figure it out? The 19 models does have a rubber cover that pulls off. Bulbs should come out with a 1/4 then counterclockwise.
@@inspiringbuilds yes, i figured it out. I watched a few other videos and looked closely at the replacement bulb. I was pretty frustrated on my first attempt. But I went back out the next day and got the job done in about 10 minutes vs “at the speed of a man walking under water”. 😆
@@inspiringbuilds No, everything described in the video was spot on….removing the air cleaner is key. What helped me, aside from the other videos describing how the bulb is removed, was looking at the new bulb to see how it’s oriented/how to grasp it and rotate it. One of my original fears was breaking the glass bulb if I grabbed it wrong. It’s a horrible design issue. Thanks for your video.
My 2011 Jeep has a totally different set up than what this video is. Removing the bulbs is not the same whatsoever. I actually cannot figure out how to move the low beam bulb at all. It does not twist screw off or have that cover like you are showing here. Something totally different. Cannot figure out how to remove it.

@@inspiringbuilds yea I upgraded to LED , pvc bulb removal too would be cool but I use any tool that give me leverage while turning …BUT if u can make a video where u find a easier way to change the fog lights that will be golden 🔥
The key thing here - You almost require a "special tool" to be able to release the bulb hold from the housing. PVC tubing is perfect for this. As strong as I am, there was no way to break it loose with just two fingers at such an awkward angle. My 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee uses an H11 for low beam and H9 for high beam. The high beam is easy. I've spent several hours trying to get the passenger side low beam bulb out.
My lease is up and I may end up getting a different car because of this bullshit- it’s either the lightbulbs or check engine light - why can’t light bulb be changed from the front?? Lift lid or open lid change bulb tada …???

That rubber boot (I also have a 2019 GC) is horrible. Makes it much harder to get in their to get at the bulb. I got my driver side one replaced (which was out). I gave up on trying to replace my passenger side (which is still working).

Thank you! It’s hard for me to stay in one small niche 😂. Have a great weekend!

@@inspiringbuilds Forgot to say thanks. You're reply is much appreciated. Also, I'm the original owner.

Quick tip: When you put the new bulb on and are testing it before inserting it back into the housing, make sure it is not touching anything else nearby. That halogen bulb gets super hot super fast and can melt nearby wires, hoses and fingers if you are not careful.

I’m trying to get the passenger side low beam replaced. Got the ECU out of the way. But for the life of me, I can’t get a grip on the cover to remove. Still very little room.
Edit: I realized mine has a different type of cover. It’s molded to the entire assembly so you can’t twist it off. Has a rubber lid on it that pops off. Still have to have baby hands to get in there. So dumb. 2017 limited btw.
I’m glad you were able to get it and save a lot of cash. I agree it’s still a tight fit but it seems impossible going underneath and then you cut up your hands as well. Thanks for watching and the comment!
But there's no way i have a enough room for even that length of a PVC, which then makes it harder to grab and twist. I'm very annoyed by this, but will keep trying.

@@timmc49 Happy to help and glad they’re working as they should. In regards to the off topic issue with your turn signals how old are the bulbs? Typically you see things like that happen when they’re close to burning out.
