Sure wish I found YOUR video before I found 2 other videos the other day. The other two videos made it look easy , from the top , which there's NO WAY in hell it's happening like that. I ended up giving up and took it to a shop to get the bulb changed. 93.00 dollars later , I had a new buld in my wife's jeep. I'll be able to get the job done , myself , next time...THANKS to you.
All the videos I’ve seen explain a couple of ways to get those bulbs out. The way this guy did It was the hard way unless you got small hands and skinny arms to do it this guy‘s way……. So at least the other guys showed a few ways to help out any one of need…… I would have to give this a thumbs down.
Thank you for the video. I followed the instructions in other tutorials but found it impossible to remove the passenger headlight from the top. Removing the bumper was going to be my next attempt at replacing the headlight. This method made the job a lot easier.
I tried several times to change the passenger bulb, but cannot twist it. I made a 'tool' out of pvc pipe with a notch in it but still could not twist it. What a pain.
Just did this on my sisters in laws and it was a lot more work than I thought! I had to remove part of that liner and radiator reservoir. My hand was too big to fit from under it to the bulb housing. So had to use a finger from the bottom and one from the top to turn it loosen the bulb.
I went in from the top, but can only touch the clip with my one finger. There's no way I can apply enough force to turn it counterclockwise. Any suggestions or tips will be greatly appreciated!
@@jcolefan2 I went from the bottom as shown in the video. The burned out bulb came out easily because whoever changed it last didn't tighten it properly back into place. In putting a new bulb back into the socket I was able to slide the open end of a 21 mm wrench over the connector/bulb for some added torque. You may want to give it a shot by doing the same thing to loosen it. Good luck.
@@jcolefan2 As your comment is 2 weeks old now, it may be too late for you., but there is a 2021 shorts video from someone who made a tool out of PVC pipe to give you something to grip the bulb with. His video description is "Grand Cherokee Laredo headlight bulb tool". I have not tried it, but as I am here looking at videos, you know I am going to be swapping bulbs tomorrow. It looks like a handy, cheap tool to make.
True but that’s not for all jeeps like this video states, removing the ECU you still can’t get your hand in there because of the antifreeze reservoir is still in the way ,,on some jeeps….. sometimes I wonder how mechanics can work on vehicles just to get a lightbulb out was a pain in the ass.
I have a 2015 Grand Cherokee limited. Replaced the Drivers side High and Low Beams. It was a real pain in the ass but way easier then the passenger side is turning out to be. The high beam was a piece of cake. I have access to the low beam but can't get the bulb to turn to remove. Top bottom no good it's like someone jammed it in there and put the cap back on and said the hell with it . Iv tried prying on it twisting it but the bulb won't budge. Bad angle and no room. I moved the ecm still can't get to the bulb. I'm guessing the bumper needs to come off now and remove the whole light unit. My hands look like they went through a meat grinder. Any Ideas
I changed my drivers side lowbeam last weekend and it took about an hour because you have to remove the air cleaner box and then you have to put everything back together after you replace the bulb. I tried to get to the passengers side bulb by moving the ECM over. I could get my fingers on the bulb connector but couldn't turn it to pop it out. So i just left that one since it's still working. But what a pain it is just to change a light bulb on these Grand Cherokees! I had a Chevy Impala where one screw held in the whole headlight assembly and that took five minutes to change the bulbs.
Question. I have a 2019 JGC LMTD V6. i replaced the original low beam bulbs (2) today with sylvania xtravision H11. with this upgrade should i lose “all day running lights” or other functionality? i rotated the knob to the left of the steering wheel and it appears the lights now only come on when the knob is turned all the way to the right. any info would help. i’m a novice. thanks

I couldn't figure out the angle to pull the bulb out and ended up breaking it. I dont know if there's still a piece of the bulb inside the housing. I can't get the new one in there and I dont know where the rest fell. It didn't land on the ground. When I tried to put the new bulb in, I couldnt get it to latch, then I dropped that bulb. 🤦🏽♀️🙄 It fell into the same abyss of the first one and I can't find that one, either. Is there a way to share my photos of my housing? I dont know what else to do.

That's crazy , too btw...that with all the technology they have nowadays , they can't make a bulb you can touch , without worrying about it blowing prematurely.
This GD job left my hands and forearms making me look like a meth addict from all of the little cuts and tears. Was insane but upgrading to H9's was PRICELESS

Yeah it can be hard to twist on it with your hand being on an awkward angle

If you go in from the top. Unclip the ecu and move to the side and you have full access to the bulb housing

Have you ever changed both bulbs and they are not very bright as they used to be. Would it be a ballast issue?
It could be the new bulbs themselves or a ground issue for the headlight wiring harness.

Just did another GC with only pulling the plastic circle cover out of the wheel well liner. It sucked, but can be done
When the bulb burns out buy new car. This is not a serviceable assembly.
