I think what makes them special besides the killer sound is the honesty and confidence in their music and vocals. The “official” video is more muted in her vocals but in this version more of her personality goes into it with changes in pitch. And most of all it’s just ballsy. Like the way Rock Lobster was ballsy. Hope to hear more from this group. I predict their album release is going to be huge.
That's funny. I've been listening to and watching their videos all night and though their style is different from the B-52's their cool, fun, party vibe is taking me back to my HS days...and my thought was "this is just like the B-52's"! I hope they keep it fun. I hope I never hear about their politics or causes. I don't want to be preached at, I just want good, fun music again...like the B-52's with a twist.

They kind of have that early-90s alt vibe to them mixed with the early 00s stripped-down indie thing a la the Strokes, as well, mixed in with some late 60s/early 70s psychedlia.
Good call on Stereolab. I'm also reminded of Levitation. Terry Bickers has tutored a lot of upcoming musicians in that part of the UK, I hear his influence in all sorts of different bands.
OMG these guys are great. I'm 56 now, listened to the Specials, English Beat, Clash, Sex Pistols, Devo, B52s... these guys have a sense of humour, a great beat and they aren't singing about drivel like most pop nowadays from the US. Keep it up!

Original, not manufactured to the usual band formulas of today, mildly retro with an unintentional nod to Punk. I think it's one of the most genuine pieces to have come about in a long time. Fabulous.
