The last 9 episodes were actually sold to Fox at a discount because otherwise Fox wouldn't have bought further episodes after episode 2x13. Warner Bros. wanted those final 9 episodes to happen as promotion to lead up to the release of Terminator Salvation. Warner Bros. was planning a direct-to-video mini-series of three films to act as a new finale to that series, but the rights to Terminator were given up in a bankruptcy by the rights-holders at the time, The Halcyon Company. The bankruptcy was due to mismanagement and not the decent box-office of Terminator Salvation. Their bankruptcy was inevitable. So, even if TSCC got a season 3, it would surely have been canceled right after that.
People quite rightly say that Summer Glau was a real talent who made this series. But I think a lot of credit should also be given to Thomas Dekker. We all may have a soft spot for Edward Furlong's John due to the legendary status of T2, but my own view is that Thomas is the second best John we have had, although for me Christian Bale as the fully-grown John also does a good job. Thomas has some really wonderful close-up acting which was beyond anyone else who has played this role. He's certainly some way ahead of Nick Stahl's version and _leagues_ ahead of the utter travesty that was Jason Clarke's take on him (not just blaming the actors, it's the direction and script-writing largely).
Dekker also gave a perfect rendition of how f*cked up John Connor's life actually is. His reactions, even when he is sobbing or pretending to be cocky. His dialogues with Doctor Sherman, his responses to different people when he tries to hide fear and hopelesness in front of them, especially Cameron and Sarah. All of that feels scarily natural and helps you feel his pain as a soldier with PTSD inside teenager's body. Dekker's performance made TSCC not only a perfect sci-fi series for Terminator Franchise, but also damn good psychological thriller. Giant kudos to him. Too bad TSCC ended where it was. So much potential for a series that would definitely go on par with today's productions like Game of Thrones. Maybe even surpass them in many aspects.
TD had a real appreciation to the terminator universe and TSCC showed more about the life John would have had growing up moreso than in the movies. The closest in T2 we got was that John as a kid was a foster kid until he accepted the truth about the future, and then we began to see the kind of person John inherently is. Despite Sarah teaching him about weapons and sacrifice he was still able to hold it together and see the good not just in humans but in machines as well. He values all sentient life, it's a part of his identity and is something that TD does very well throughout TSCC At the same time I still remember the first episode of the show,and small things like how much he hates wearing cowboy boots at that new school. It's innocent and very fitting from a regular teenager. At the same time he didn't blink when he saw Sarah bullet-proofing the furniture in their new home. This delicate balance between teenage rebellion and hormones combined with the PTSD you see from veterans and other survivors of trauma later in life get compounded further when he later has to accept that Judgment Day was still coming and he was still destined to lead humanity in a time travel war against the most powerful ai ever to cover of existence with an army of nearly indestructible robots. Throw in how Uncle Bob was a father figure when he was 12 and how Cameron in an attractive girlfriend figure that he had real problems placing her in his life. It's one thing to have Uncle Bob be his protector, to be a protective father figure. But a girlfriend (a lover) that's completely different. Society today frowns upon prying into our co-workers intimate lives, or the sex lives of our family members. In many families it's hard enough to get the parental approval of a new lover (specifically during those teenage years). There's a real similarity between Sarah's concern for John and the foster dad who was concerned about Riley being with John; ie I don't trust this person/cyborg with my kid. And in Riley's stepfather's case he was right. John figured out who Riley was and could have confronted her and ultimately saved her, but he chose not to. And maybe in 2027 with a John that is in his 40s that kind of action would be irresponsible and he should be held accountable. But John was 16 by the second season; he was still growing up and rebelling out not just because of his need to live a secret life but also became his body itself was a hormone factory. You can only expect so much out of a kid whose been told all his life he had a destiny that will prevent him from having a life of his own; and TD did a great job of portraying this iteration of John Connor dealing with both that and life as a teenager.
No one could have pulled of this roll better then her. The emotionless voice and emotionless face. gave her a true machine look and feel. That blank voice and blank expression of her's really made the character work. I can not think of another actor that could have pulled that off so well.

I love the subtle smile Cameron gives to John right after he puts the detonator under his shirt, she knows that she can be a threat to him and wants all the best for him, even at the cost of her own existence if it is necessary. Also, the look in her eyes when she smiles to him is almost like if she wanted to tell him 'I hate the purpose I was built for - to infiltrate and kill, and that I am still a threat to you, John.I understand that I used to do bad things when I was near you, killed people, just because they seemed to be... a threat. I was malfunctioning and almost killed you, because Skynet got control on me again. But the new rights-holders, the billionaire siblings - The Ellisons, didn't want it to happen and made their own Terminator films: Terminator: Genisys and Terminator: Dark Fate.

The new Star Wars movies are just terrible. The only decent one was The Force Awakens. And I say decent because of how the final fight ended, with Kylo and Rey fighting and Rey beating him. Finn was definitely my favorite character in that movie and infact he became one of my top 5 characters in all of Star Wars. But atlas, all the movies afterwards weren't too great and Last Jedi was terrible. (Solo had great Banter between Han and Chewie and Rogue one was super awesome)

there is a cover irght over the CPU shock armature, that little plug he pull the chip out on, I imagine a detonation there would destroy the chip, that compartment cap does not require deactivation to remove, as evident from earlier episodes, though perhaps my favorite depiction is the T2 deleted scene where T-800 guides john and Sarah through the removal of his chip, in which that cap is removed before the chip while he's still on.
Marcus W I'm sure that they could get close enough if they override certain protocols, they just can't physically yank the chip. We often see Cameron override things she doesn't want to do. Perhaps she got even closer than we thought possible
The reason why people dislike this show so much is because Cameron is too much "humanized" for a terminator wich goes off the rail of the two first movies and her relationship with John has kind of a "Twilight vibe"
Most of the show was him wanting to have a normal life and hoping that Judgement Day was prevented so he wouldn't have to own up to the fact that he is John Connor. This issue is brought up by Derek when he mentions that he acts more like John Baum than John Connor. Likewise Cameron tells him that future John has more important things to do. The characters and you pretty much have the same problem with him. It's not really until Riley dies that he decides to step up as a leader. Who knows how he would have been if there was a third season.
He was a young man who finally thought he could be normal, then lost everything again and still wanted to be normal. Don't see a wimp. I see a person who is young a depressed or lost. It was to take a decade or two for him to become the resistance leader. Season 3 I'd imagine was to be the start of his transformation. By season 4 or 5 John would be more cold and hard. But he did love Cameron which wasn't making him a whimp. After all she is modelled off his future wife too. Add to that, she was becoming self aware and developing some sort of attachment towards him

Oh man, I love these scenes, sprinkled throughout. Periodic reminders how screwed up you'd be if you had this heroic destiny and spent your teenage years hiding from everyone but your family and a a hot robot girl supervising/stalking/protecting/only-once-or-twice-trying-to-kill you.
