Honestly, if it weren't for the EXP Share, her team is really high-leveled for a Champion squad, and a bit of a jump from the E4. It's just that, well . . . the busted Gen 6 EXP Share exists, so most players won't realise what levels are on screen. A good chunk of what made Cynthia so ruthlessly hard was the jump between Lucien's team and hers (6 Levels between his strongest and hers), so if you go in prepped for Aaron, you're going to be steamrolled by Cynthia. If your team was gaining EXP at a quick pace, like with Gen 6, you'd be closer to caught up.

Ah man, this song is so nostalgic to me. Whenever I fought people online, I would always change the battle music to this and it made the fights so much more intense. It was so awesome.
I honestly feel like this battle isn't *supposed* to be hard, considering you saved the world. The theme gives me more of a "show me your battle STYLE" considering beauty was a major factor in these games. The theme isn't fast, rough, or challenging. It's bright, energetic, and with a bit of flair.
The Almighty Nagamimi I agree, I think that diantha has the best champion theme, but the Leon theme hit me with nostalgia of how I used to watch PokéTip’s ORAS playthrough and how I loved x and y, man it’s been over two decades
It should definitely have been a side battle. But I agree with your interpretation, it just isn’t on par with the level of difficulty you’d expect a champion to have.
Maybe but shes still supposed to be a champion, champions should be difficult regardless of story, the Same circumstances happened in diamond and pearl and Cynthia is notorious for being the hardest champion in the series. What happened here??
Fikayo Akande idk maybe she cared more about her Pokémon than their battle skill, or maybe she didn’t care about how they would do in battle and cared more about how well dressed they were, that’s the only explanation I can think of
I think the thing that makes X and Y different from the predecessors is that they give new players more of a "Show me who you are" rather than a "Show me how strong you are" kind of feel. I think the creators meant to stay true to the main theme behind these two games, hence why they were leaning more on light atmosphere and easy-going battles instead of the heart-pounding, bullet-sweating challenges that games like Diamond and Pearl gave us. I fully respect that, seeing as it's the first Pokémon game outside of GBA that I managed to complete.
Diamond and pearl were pretty easy but in terms of pokemon games they were on the harder side which isn't saying much since pokemon has always been somewhat easy. I do wish she wasn't as much of a pushover as she is though. I wish she was strong enough to take out at least 2 pokemon, maybe even 3.
@@mcmuffin1236 hah maybe if you went with mons that are weak to her and are slower as well youd be able to get 3 kos on your team otherwise this whole game is pathetically easy

For a moment, I thought they were trying to make another theme like Iris, a more delicate theme in nature with some an "epic" undertone. However they went a WHOLE other direction. They turned this battle into an event with incredible amounts of grandiose. The church bells and swells of rock made this a whole new piece, and an incredible one at that. ... Even if the battle is easy as shit.

At the point we challenge her, we’ve already saved Kalos, so she was asking for a display of our charisma in battle, and boy did she deliver hers, I hope many of us returned the favour too!
Even though they were insanely easy, XY was so fun. Great soundtrack, great new pokemon, good map, and obviously megas (which seemed to be almost universally loved by the community).

Direct quote from Bulbapedia
My favorite cutscene so far in my Y play through is the conversation between Diantha and Lysandre in the cafe. Not cuz it's overly cinematic or anything, but the dialogue really wowed me and got me thinking. The theme of x and y is quite obviously beauty, though this cutscene started to make me believe it was also about life cycles. With the mascot legendaries representing life and death of course, but also since these 2 important characters were having a discussion on aging. It gave me a sense of who they are. Lysandre is like Cyrus in the sense that they want to create their own perfect world. Diantha ages very gracefully; something allot of women in my life have a difficult time doing. She's not ashamed of getting older, and I think that in itself is a beautiful thing
I want a story where the protagonist's mom would be the champion of the 8th gen region! (Only if you choose if you're a boy, but if you choose being a girl, your dad would be the professor and the male protagonist's mom's would be his childhood rival)
I want a game where the evil teams leader is also the Champion and ends up using his positive influential power to gain the trust of everyone in the region. lol

@Mouse of Screams Yeah, but at the very least pick anything but Rillaboom. If Charizard was the one to sweep her team, that's understandable since it's his ace. Rillaboom is just a side pokemon which made it worse. Also, after taking down 3 pokemon, surely rillaboom would be low enough to be KO'd by a fire blast from goodra, but it looked like it never took any damage whatsoever. The battle just didn't make sense imo.
I'm sad that Diantha was too easy to beat, I really wanted a challenge (like Cynthia) but hey, she's got a great theme! Too bad I can't hear it over the sound of he fainting Pokemon and winning to fast
I love Diantha. She is elegant, distant, wise and incredibily sensitive. Yes, she doesn't have a great impact in the story, but it's because she is mysterious. I would have loved to see her coming back in SM or USUM, but Kalos and the French atmosphere suites her much more aesthetically. The only problem was giving her the wrong team. One of the fossil Pokémon needs to be replaced with something else. This theme is so glorious, so holy and the Champion battle being placed on a rose window of a cathedral is so fantastique!
pokemon Y still remains my favorite to this day, recently it found it's way back into my life when my little niece found my old DS and surely enough, pokemon Y was in it. Three years later, we regularly battle and trade, and she's just as obsessed as I am. I'm glad this game still finds it's way into other's hearts after all this time

+Jeff Rey EXP share plus getting your entire team to 2+ in 'monamie right away. Or just use a dusk ball for everything and only play at night.)
+Mr. Garchomp excuse me sir... I lived in a generation where the champion was lv 70 strongest pokemon... and you as a "newbie" would be as much lv 55-63... and guess what? WE made it. quite difficult but we made it trought.

It is truethough, that I never used megas and my team consisted of a Pyroar, a Gourgeist, a Florges, a Vivillion, a Dragalgea and a Greninja with a terrible moveset. I think the reason most people found her easy is because of the extremely easy access to additional starter, legendaries and especially FREE MEGAS, that the game hands you at every turn (forces even in one fight) and thus upsets the balance.
the weird thing is that her team was actually decent, it's just pokemon deliberately lowered the stats of her pokemon. eg. i had a goodra level 63 and she had a goodra level 66 but my goodra was still faster and did more damage to her than she did to me...

Wow, I never thought of it that way, thanks

@@mcmuffin1236 Tell me about it. Diamond and Pearl's remakes are tougher.
@@mcmuffin1236 hah maybe if you went with mons that are weak to her and are slower as well youd be able to get 3 kos on your team otherwise this whole game is pathetically easy
@@mcmuffin1236 Have you played the remakes? I suggest you try the Cynthia battle in BDSP without any healing items and a set battle style. It challenges you to think strategically.
@@FeatherWings78 because it's reliant on artificial difficulty, not smart AI. B/W 2 had sometimes smart AI, but suffered artificial difficulty from blatantly overleveled opponents. D/P remakes gets its difficulty from enemies having perfect EVs and IVs. The AI is still dumb however and just spams random moves. It's lame.

Yes. While X/Y are pretty easy, they had some good things, as you stated. Lots of good new mons from Gen 6 and introuduced Megas. To this day, Mega evos still remain the best gimmick
@@Kagetora- I'm kinda sad that we can say they were even a gimmick honestly. I thought they'd be a mainstay in the series, but instead we get something new each game that still hasn't topped it.
(Which is always hilarious to do to the various legendaries if you don't feel like simply stalling them out until they've struggled themselves nearly to death then blasting them with a timer ball. Or just use a dusk ball for everything and only play at night.)
I agree. Games are not getting easier, we are just veterans. =)
+Mr. Garchomp excuse me sir... I lived in a generation where the champion was lv 70 strongest pokemon... and you as a "newbie" would be as much lv 55-63... and guess what? WE made it. quite difficult but we made it trought.
+Simran B the fight was really easy for me since i leveled up quickly
This fight was actually pretty tough my first time through, and pulling through was very clutch.
Pokemon Universe - Steven Universe and Pokemon that's because of EVs
Jared Hoff In Sun and Moon the trainers have massive EVs
Diantha's Pokémon had shit EVs
NeoStrike trainer Pokémon don't have evs
You're A Furry they do.. only special trainers tho
Aside from how easy she is. This theme is absolutely fantastic and is the most underrated champion theme.
Is fantástic theme for the introduction of Fairy Type🤗

In my opinion, Diantha's theme is my favorite champion battle theme. I remember enjoying Diantha's theme in my childhood, it's so epic

At least I can remember that she is even champion. Half the time I forget that Alder even exists.
