As far as I'm aware the most exclusive WRX that has been released for the Australian market was the 2015 WRX STi in limited edition Hyper Blue colour. Only 50 units were released Australia wide. The only exception to this was the 22B of which only 5 units were officially allocated to the Australian market back in 1999. Four of them were sold back then for $125,000, and Subaru Australia has kept the other one for themselves, which I believe is located at Docklands.
You're right, Julian. Let's say that the CS3 is the most exclusive GC8 in Aust....we gotta giver her some stature!!
You're clearly a man who knows his WRX's....appreciate the comment as always!! cheers
Thanks for having me on the channel. 👊
Great stuff 👊🏼
I have the Version 6 STI - 400 delivered to Aus - (well 399 - as I believe 1 fell off the ship coming from Japan) in gunmetal grey colour - same as Richie. Completely stock. The best colour IMHO.
Totally agree- loved the V6 Steel Mica colour since day dot…👊🏼
399 were produced as no.13 was never produced. The one that fell into Tokyo harbour was a Ver. V 2 door.
This is the best CS Evo edition WRX IMHO. When I ordered my MY99 (WRC blue) in November 1998 I must have asked the salesperson at least 10 times whether a CSE3 was being released in early 1999 as I'd read it somewhere. Of course he said they hadn't heard anything, I took delivery of mine in Feb 1999, and sure enough the CSE3 came out a couple of months later. I was FUMING!
The power of all MY99's was 160kW - Aus delivered WRX's were 155kW up from MY94-MY98.
The grill badge on the CSE3 was originally the standard black. I put a pink i badge on mine - I think they look better than the black OEM and the pink STi star badge.
Great that Richie kept a lot of the original parts. A stock car will have a better resale value going forward as the GC8 continues to become more scarce and sought after. I'm keeping mine stock this time (bought in 2001, sold 2010, bought again in 2022!). Just sourced a set of original 16's for it and chasing the orange front & side indicators as I changed them to clear when I had it the first time and then sold them, not expecting to buy the car again, hahaha.
Damn, I would have been livid too!! Great story Scottie, thanks so much for sharing.
very Excellent Interview and Info for a Newby like Myself!
Great Lookin Car! Tastefully spec'd.
I'm such a fan of this colour, it surely makes my WRC blue baby jelly!!! 😱
Me too…I settled for similar grey with the VA, but would love a Version 6 in this same Steel Mica 👍🏼
@@wrxcult8266 steel Mica! Hot a colour code for me to copy and paste on the Forestor I was telling you.about with the race motor? 😜
I’ve got that book. I was starting to read it only a couple of weeks ago.
Sweet- it's a great resource!!
Very nice!
😎👊🏼
Still the hottest looking shape till this day id love to get one if i had the money
So rad🇦🇺
Thank you for watching 👍🏼
🔥🔥🔥🔥
The s201 gc8s are the most rare version of the gc8 range with only 80 sold, correct me if I’m wrong
very interesting no cobb accessport no AOS filter, no bigger oil pans.... looks like some modifications are only popular in the USA
I think it's a case-by-case rather than Australia specific. My VA has a tonne of mods but unlike Richie, I've not swapped out the engine or gearbox...
That said, USA is a big trend setter and manufacturer incredible parts, so we could just be lagging behind!!!
Is this different from. The RB5 edition?
Very interested in these clear fog light covers! I need 3 or 4 sets..
Feel free to get in touch with Richie- details are in the vid description 👍🏼
One of my rexys is a 2002 Subaru wrx auto, wagon Sedona red pearl, definitely not a good spec but it has a 6 speed now, how would I find out how many were made In australia, I believe it’s a pretty rare spec, I have only seen one other one
Hey P- yes, you never see those on the road…would be very rare! Contact Subaru Australia, they may have those numbers- cheers 😎👊🏼
do club spec gc8s have an aluminum bonnet ?
No. They just had the standard steel version. The club spec Evo 2 is also steel ( weighs a tonne!)
I had the evo 4 WRX number 69... I regret selling it every day!!!
I bet…that is such a cool car…they do pop up for sale now & then… 😎👊🏼
Think 225/45 would've been a better option for tires
richie rich = you need big dollars to buy these rare subaru GC8 = i don`t really care as long as it is a good 1 = my sf5 gt is ej207 swapped .
Yes…youve got the heart of subie!!!
Subaru S202 rare and quick 320 bhp standard
Yes…😎👊🏼
i have non sti wrx 1995 1 of 6,000 only !
So, another Subaru parts bin model?.
Yes, that's right, but this one took from the 22B parts bin!!
@WRX Cult a few but arguably not the parts that make a 22b what it is .
It seemed quite common for Subaru to raid parts for other models and just throw a number to make it limited?.
The created relative scarcity
laxetts will help you !
