Great tune and lesson Marty! Just one small correction to those who want to play along to the record, Eddie Vedder uses a capo on the first fret not the second as you mentioned :)

This same challenge comes up now and then with other songs, and usually I can overcome, but not on this song. I hate to give up, but I give up. The tune should be called "Hard Song"
I did!!! As it says in the info below in this video. It's a really great tune and I'm glad it is now getting the credit it deserves. Thanx for the info my friend and for tuning in.

Hi Marty. I am 55 and am just now picking the guitar up to really learn something. I had a couple of beginner lessons that I quit going to back when I was in high school and the instructor was teaching me Dust In The Wind. I had learned how to play a little bit from my step father and my sister so the beginner thing was just boring to me. I have short stubby fingers so it's hard for me to do some of the chords. Do you have any suggestions? By the way, Pearl Jam is my favorite band. You did an amazing job and you have an amazing voice! Thank you!!
I agree, one of my faves. Greeting from Canada. hey, I am trying to reach 100k subscribers so tell your friends about me, it would be greatly appreciated, thanx for tuning in, good luck to you and take care

Marty, with the service your'e doing for people, I hope you get a million subscribers. A lot of times when I play out, people come up to me and say they would love to learn to play. In the future I will point them in your direction. thanks, I always love to see other guys takes on classic songs.
Great cover, just to add to the capo on the first fret.. it’s also done with drop D tuning. Still a great lesson for beginners like me . Thank Marty always a pleasure listening and watching you play bud. Cheers from Saint John NB!

I am still confused even after reading what you wrote earlier... did Eddie write it or not? Just wondering bc I love it. I love Indio, and love the way you play it, too, bro. Thanks for helping me!

I don’t think so, I love this tune and a perfect fit for his voice and the movie, everyone wins, especially the guy who wrote it, Vedder gave it a second life and now the writer is making more money off it then he ever did before. Well deserved. Like I said, everybody wins
Yes as I clearly state in the info of this video, I give Indio full credit for writing this tune. Please check the info on vids before commenting from here on out. Thanx for watching.
@@partymartyeasyguitartunes1711 Sorry, didn't see that. I was just going off of what you said, which was "Eddie Vedder wrote it.". Regardless, you played to and sang it very well. Great work! 🙂
Indio - Hard Sun cartwrong • 367K views 8 years ago Indio's (Gordon Peterson) single "Hard Sun" originally featured on his debut "Big Harvest" in 1989. Later covered by Eddie Vedder ...
Hey bud, I wish you would check the info for this video before you say that. Vedder renewed this tune for the movie, he is very forthright about that. This bud is modelled after his version is all. Read the info before casting stones.
Eddie Vedder DID NOT COMPOSE Hard Sun. It was written by Indio aka Canadian musician, Gordon Peterson. Please correct this misinformation in your video. Peterson sued Vedder in 2009 for altering some of the lyrics in his song. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_Sun_(song). Here is the original video of Peterson singing his composition, Hard Sun. ua-cam.com/video/JuwmZJ6I8-0/v-deo.html. No knocks on Eddie Vedder, who I like a lot, but Peterson's original version blows Eddie's version out of the park.
Great info - thanx for sharing. Not sure whether you noticed Or it but I give proper writing credit in my info for this video, most don’t bother reading it before commenting. Thanx again for stopping by “How to Play Hard Sun - Eddie Vedder (cover) - Easy 4 Chord Tune, (originally written by Gordon Peterson who performed under the name of Indio on the 1989 album, Big Harvest) “
Thank you, Marty, for letting me know about the correction. You were right, of course - I did not read the full description and was really pleased to see proper attribution given to Gordon. Thanks for posting your instructional video for such a great song. Peace.

I happened to see in a video that the actual strumming pattern is DD UDU DUDU UDU ......
whereas you use a patter DD UDUD DUDUDUDU DD......., Which is the one used in actual song ? Please correct me if wrong about your strumming patter. Great job on the song though!
hey marty how about ,in thee ,by blue oyster cult ,great song ,think its right down your street
That is a great tune. I am trying to answer a lot of requests right now but will keep yours in mind for a possible future project. Thanx for tuning in. Hey, I'm trying to reach 100k subscribers so please spread the word about my channel, it would be greatly appreciated
The fact that Eddie Vedder didn't write the whole song kind of humanizes the tune.
I don’t think so, I love this tune and a perfect fit for his voice and the movie, everyone wins, especially the guy who wrote it, Vedder gave it a second life and now the writer is making more money off it then he ever did before. Well deserved. Like I said, everybody wins
Perfeito! Brasil
Thank you from Canada!! Hey, I'm trying to reach 100k subscribers so please spread the word about my channel, it would be greatly appreciated, thanx
what about the strumming?
Am? I dont see when you use this chord
He uses it in the chorus. 05:14
Sorry, Eddie didn't write it. Gordon Peterson (aka Indio) wrote it. It's from the Big Harvest album.
Great work! 🙂
You aren't covering Vedder. You're covering Gordon Peterson.
Yes just like it says in the info section in this video, please do your homework before sending a comment like this
@@partymartyeasyguitartunes1711 please do your homework??? You literally say he wrote it in your intro, so who isn't doing their homework???

Indio's (Gordon Peterson) single "Hard Sun" originally featured on his debut "Big Harvest" in 1989. Later covered by Eddie Vedder ...
The like number is 666 😳
Yikes!!
Capoed on the first, not the second.
On a lot of Eddie's songs. He tunes his guitar down a half step.
I wish Eddie would set the record straight that he didn't write it.
Hey bud, I wish you would check the info for this video before you say that. Vedder renewed this tune for the movie, he is very forthright about that. This bud is modelled after his version is all. Read the info before casting stones.
Eddie did NOT write this song.
Not sure whether you noticed
Or it but I give proper writing credit in my info for this video, most don’t bother reading it before commenting. Thanx again for stopping by
“How to Play Hard Sun - Eddie Vedder (cover) - Easy 4 Chord Tune, (originally written by Gordon Peterson who performed under the name of Indio on the 1989 album, Big Harvest) “
Thank you, Marty, for letting me know about the correction. You were right, of course - I did not read the full description and was really pleased to see proper attribution given to Gordon. Thanks for posting your instructional video for such a great song. Peace.
