- Best viewed in 60 fps. The intro is at the end of the video. 38:56 I'm player 1, GalaxiaShadow is player 2, Metal Yoshi/Kirby is player 3 and Mark is player 4. There were no issues during the first loop, but there were a few problems with the second one, including Metal stepping away briefly in stage 3 (edited out), Galaxia not being present for part of the second stage, and Metal not being there to fight the last boss. While I had already made videos of this game before, only this one was 60fps.

In all honestly, Konami was absolutely on fire during the 4th and 5th generations. The Ninja Turtle games, Castlevania, Contra, Sunset Riders, Rocket Knight Adventure, Metal Gear Solid, Yugioh, and Suikoden's I & II. If there are any other classic Konami games from this period that I left out, let me know.

Everytime I would go to my local laundromat I would play the shit out of the game! I would always bring a $5 bill with me and the owner had a quarter belt, so as soon as he would see me I'd slap the $5 on the counter and he would load me up with my quarters and I'd run straight to Sunset Riders! I played his game any chance I could and I've beaten it quite a few times! The owner was murdered as of 2012 and they turned the place into a bodega.... Rest in Peace Jimmy!

It was around 2023 when Konami announced they will go back to MAKING Video Games.
Well, El Greco definitely wasn't the smartest dude.
Wow, Chief Scalpen in 2nd Run... going full DIO with all those knives.
If you get to him without losing a single life on first run he uses 5 knives, and uses 4 knives if you only lose one life. The game genuinely gets harder the better you are. A bit like parodius and other Konami games.
- as someone who thinks Hatfield is the best-designed boss, and as someone who thinks his track is the best music in the game, it made me a little sad that you guys so thoroughly dogpiled and trounced him both times, almost making him seem like a normal enemy...poor Hank
- unrelated note: thanks to you and several other streamers who published/uploaded stuff over the last couple of days, I was motivated enough to go, "these fuckers are all finding time to play over this busy holiday weekend, I think I can too"...and dusted off my PS2, playing Gauntlet Dark Legacy for the 1st time in close to two years. Good stuff!

I like how you've got 4 videos of Sunset Riders. Not always the same combo of players, but you, Galaxia and Metal play it a lot, don't you.
It added up over the years but I wouldn't say I play it too much. Still, it is one of my favorite 4p arcade games along with Ninja Turtles and a few others.
A wanted poster of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (another game by Konami) on it top left, that appears during the stage 2 boss fight is shown in this game.
That detail happens to be missing from the Arcade Archives version of this game.

This game is Contra 3: The Alien Wars and TMNT: Turtles in Time COMBINED.
Despite being 100% arcade accurate on the Arcade Archives version for PS4 and Nintendo Switch, Chief Scalpem had been renamed to Chief Wigwam
Also, El Greco doesn't say "Die, gringo!" and there is no Ninja Turtles poster at the second boss. Not sure if the Arcade Archives version has any other changes.
This game is the baby of Contra and the Konami turtles

Sunset Riders has gameplay that is similar to Contra, Vendetta, and runs on the same hardware as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

How were you able to play with 4 people online?
I used MAME++ for that. There are other ways to do that, like using Parsec, but that is not my first choice.

I don't consider it to be a good idea to purposely throw a game in most circumstances. Besides, for me to do that would require not attacking the boss as much, which would also make the battles drag on longer, and potentially cost more lives.

Nope. There's a hit ratio in every boss fight, meaning that whoever hits the boss the most gets the reward at the end.
But you are right about them not sharing the bounty so... Yeah, there's that, at least.

It can be played online with MAME++ 0.119.

@@trev1976 The standard version doesn't have a netplay feature. There are other options, such as MAMEHub, Retroarch or Parsec, but I prefer MAME++ for netplay, for the games it works with, like this one. There are newer versions of MAME++ like 0.134 but nothing that matches a recent regular MAME version like 0.222. ++ 0.119 is the easiest one to find a download for.

As player 1, you are forced to use Steve, but you can still choose a different player number. The 2 player version has a real character select.
