Sadly, Paul passed away on 11th March at age 78. What a life he lived, living 72 years longer than he thought he would.
Sad, he really got fame though, I'm happy for him

His story is definitely one of the most inspiring, and he himsel is ironically the strongest person in the modern day.
I pity his situation, but I bet the man didn't even need it cuz he was achieving more than most of us.

It has to be stated that Paul’s lungs became strong enough in his teen years that he could be outside the iron lung during the day in a wheelchair and slept in the Iron Lung at night. This allowed him to actually practice law in court like Ironside (Raymond Burr). During the Pandemic, he retreated back to his home and spends much more time in the Iron Lung. It is inspirational as he played the hand delt and makes the most of it.

@@rubymargaritais5657 According to a 2020 Guardian interview with him: "By the time positive-pressure ventilators were in widespread use, however, Paul was used to living in his lung, and he had already learned to breathe part of the time without it. He also never wanted a hole in his throat again. So he kept his iron lung."

You know, I’ve been struggling a lot with my health for many years. Always complaining, being ungrateful and pessimistic of my future. This man opened my eyes on how lucky I am, and no matter what my circumstances are, that I should still try to do what I’ve always wanted in life. Even if I fail a few times it shouldn’t discourage me from trying again and again until till I reach my dreams. Thank you for the wonderful insight, I’m done being a victim of my own misery. Here’s to 2024 and new beginnings! 🎉

They say when you lose an organ other organs become strong. For him, losing almost all the functions of his body except his head, made his head the most strongest a human head ever can be. The picture that he painted (2:57) and the biography that he wrote using a pen in his mouth just shows how strong his brain had become. And with that came even more determination to survive, I guess. He chose to do something where I bet anyone else on this planet would give up long ago. But he is the one who stood out and became an example of perseverance and not to whine about your condition and instead deal with whatever you have and accomplish things that even "fit', "normal" humans even can't...

As I watched videos on TikTok, there's this one video that says that Paul Alexander just passed away, and as soon as I knew it, I went to this video that I used to watch every time I was breaking down or life just seemed so hard to me. I can't believe after 2 years I am going to watch this and comment on this video again.😞Mr. Paul Alexander is such an inspiration to many. You’d be depressed for a while but then you’ll get used to it but then you’ll find meaning in other things. The great thing abt us is that we adapt to new conditions with time, i worked with alot of paralyzed ppl and they all said the same thing

He is so inspiring, ever since I got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes I felt like it was contagious. No one wanted to hang out, never wanted to be friends. And every time I transferred to a new school everyone would stare at me for 1 minute and then whisper to their friend. I overheard some of the things they said, people would say "who's that fat pig?" Or "is she a real living cow?" I was so insecure about myself. Once I saw him he made me cry he made me think "maybe I can do anything they are just rude." Thank you Paul for being so inspiring! Thank you 🙏

This man is a true Inspiration and a fighter, a warrior. Some people with no disability have suicidal thoughts while this man lived his whole life laying down. A true hero
This man has every right to be upset, ungrateful, and even depressed. Yet he’s not. He’s happy and living his life as well as physically and mentally can. We can all learn a thing or two from him.
What do we know of how he feels. Rarely you will see a depressed person express it openly, especially in such age.

I am 67. I went to school with kids that suffered from polio. Non this severe. I am going thru a hard time. Now my challenge seems really small. In the Navy and Coast Guard, a job well done gets two special flags. BRAVO and ZULU. Job well done Paul!

Imagine staying in a confined body space for 70 years but still being able to live happily. This man is mentally strong.
I think he can't even imagine what life could be instead of that, and for that reason he's happy.
@@freezEware that could be, but he was not born that way and had some years to jump, run and live a normal life. So he already new what it was to move freely before ending up in that machine. So he definitely has one of the strongest mental determination in the world.

This was so bittersweet. I feel bad for that happening to him but he is one of the strongest people I’ve ever seen and I hope he can continue doing so.

I think the doctor who performed the tracheotomy on him should be praised just as much for not giving up on a child who was clearly on death's doorstep. Without doctors like that, this man wouldn't be here today to tell his amazing story.
Most people wouldn't have the same mindset as this guy and would be better off dead. So 9/10 times a doctor like that would cause unimaginable suffering to patients.

There are pictures of him outside the iron lung so maybe he doesn't have to stay in it the entire time .

I hate seeing people suffer like this. Look how genuinely good of a person he is, but underneath all that is decades of pain, unfathomable amounts of suffering. My life has changed dramatically since I started having severe neuropathic pains from Endometriosis.
I thought about giving up so many times. It feels like I've lost everything and my body is not my body anymore.
I also get sick a lot since taking hormones and medications and have severe pains all over my body and now it's my teeth.
Paul is such and inspiration, I couldn't stop crying.
Thank you Paul for motivating me to continue and having my diploma I will continue to l push through as much as I can.
