I love the first season. It precisely sets the stage for everything that comes after. Breaking Bad from the start to the finish is hands-down the most thoughtfully written tv show in history. My theory of the lower Rotten Tomato rating for Season 1 simply hangs on the fact that some people cannot enjoy drug related drama and humor. So, it’s not the show’s fault, it’s simply viewer discretion.

By the end of the show, she hates him. This is why I love BB. Never before have I seen such a dramatic, but realistic character arc. The transition from Walt to Heisenberg is a masterpiece in story telling.

As annoying as Skyler can be, I think she’s written realistically. She knows she’s not getting the whole story from Walt, and love her or hate her, she’s not stupid ❤️❤️❤️
k comay I agree. I know people hate Skyler and I did when I first watched the show; but where is coming from is from a place of concern and safety and fear. If she feels like she has to pry into secrets and nag Walt then that is what she does.

The short scene in the car is probably my favorite from the entire show. The pure emotions of a man that finally feels alive after spending so much of it in lethargic mediocrity. Perfectly told through an outburst of pure adrenaline.

Breaking Bad is the best show ever made. The only people I know of that don't like this show, are the ones that don't want to deal with the hard issues the show brings up. It's a very human show with a big heart but it's also distressing and heartbreaking. The quality in writing, direction, editing, acting are off the charts.
My ex-wife couldn't make it past the dude-smoothie episode. She'll never know the awesomeness, sadly. Note, I said ex-wife.

Actually higher level drug dealers (bulk dealers) are more clandestine. It’s the small level dealers that are more noticeable. Higher traffic raises suspicions.

Just wanted to say a huge fan of your channel. I’ve been watching your channel since you started reacting to Game of Thrones. I’m so glad you guys are reacting to Breaking Bad. Seriously, you’re in for a treat.
My uncle had to undergo chemotherapy when he had cancer. He used to be a hippy: long hair, smoked weed, wore tie-dyed shirts and only bought vegan products. The chemotherapy gets the body to stop producing specific types of new cells in order to halt (or even reverse) the cancer's progress, but also causes other new cells to halt production: hair follicles, nails, etc. So my uncle decided to shave his head and has kept it shaved. His reason, verbatim is "I look like a sexy Bryan Cranston."
A tough thing to go through, nice to hear he kept a sense of humor about it. 😁
@@mojoriot2293 I honestly think it's why he beat it. He kept his spirits up and just rolled with it. Also got to eat a bunch of Edibles (candies laced with cannabis) and now had a medical excuse to smoke all the weed he had.
The interesting part was making sure my cousins (his grandkids) didn't try to eat 'Gramp's Candy.'
@@LordBloodraven I also have some health issues that are eased by cannabis, been using it since long before it was 'acceptable'. I also have a granddaughter, & I keep my edibles & vapes locked up for the same reason. I'm just glad that society is finally seeing past the stigma and coming around to accepting it's benefits. My sense of humor has also helped me through the tough times, ya just gotta laugh sometimes.
My art helps as well, creating something original has a way of easing pain & diffusing depression. Hope you're uncle continues to find a way though it, some days it can be a struggle. I did manage to keep my long hair though.😄

He feels dead all day long with the chemo cancer combo. The cooking in the desert is a reprieve but that moment right there, was the moment he felt the most alive in awhile. That's how I see that reaction in the car.

One of the best episodes of the show right there. Walt getting the better of that Lunatic Tuco was such a badass moment. And Walt is definitely enjoying this. As the show goes on you'll see that it's not just about Walt's desperation with his health issues but also about his feelings of not being appreciated for how great he feels he should be. The name Heisenberg is a reference to a German Physicist named Werner Heisenberg who died of cancer.
Walter takes the nickname Heisenberg from Werner Heisenberg, German physicist who contributed to many fields during his time, mostly fields that have to do with chemistry nowadays.
So others have provided the background on who the physicist Heisenberg was and what the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principal is. However the reason the show uses that for his street name is because like the uncertainty principle where the more accurately you measure a particles momentum the less you know about its position and vice versa the more you think you know about Walt the family man the less you know about Walt the drug dealer and vice versa.

The key take-away from the whole Heisenberg name drop is that Heisenberg was famous for the "Uncertainty Principle". Uncertain. Difficult to predict.

I love how, in 24 hours, they went from that tender scene where Jesse sympathizes with the cancer and Walt trusts him to finish the batch, to "Jesus! Grow some fuckin' balls!" :)

♥️ I love how this show makes you question your morals and you are behind Walter all the way and then shocked at your response all at once. Love shows that make you think about them long after you watched it.
As much as I love watching you guys a few episodes a week, it's also frustrating having to wait for you guys to get to THE meatiest, most iconic parts of the show. This is still an introduction to a heart-pounding 5-season rollercoaster ride that only gets better with time.
Keep in mind about symbolism in the show, like when he teaches, it's basically the narrative of the show

Sometimes I think nothing can beat Game of Thrones and then I am reminded of how fucking amazing Breaking Bad is and I start do doubt again.
GoT has many ups and downs (I personally thought season 5 was very boring). Breaking Bad is incredibly consistent and basically keeps getting better until the finale.

The scene of him teaching the class is such a foreshadow for so many things.
Forget the cooking, forget the money & forget surviving. That scene where Walt is in the car after getting that money from Taco, the part where his teeth are clenched and he's just screaming due to the high adrenaline rush crossing throughout his body. That moment right there is the first time Walt has ever had that feeling and is what first created the Heisenberg persona.
This was the episode that hooked me on Breaking Bad. Love this show and love you guys for reacting to it!! 💖

Werner Heisenberg was a German physicist who formulated what is now known as the "uncertainty principle," one of the principle concepts of quantum physics. Basically -- and I am a layman, so I'm likely explaining this badly -- the uncertainty principle says that there is a limit to how well you can simultaneously know the position and momentum (where momentum is classically mass times velocity) of a particle.
That is, if you know the position of a subatomic particle very precisely, you can only have limited information about its momentum and vice-versa.
Again, I am not a physicist, but that's my understanding.
Anyway, Heisenberg is one of the big, big, big names in physics. Its basically the equivalent of calling yourself "Einstein." My only question is, if Walter was going to use an alias that was a famous scientist, why not use a famous chemist, like Pauling, or Farraday, or Mendelev, or Priestly.
And the name Walter White was referring to a man who was apart of the civil rights movement. So Walter White is the Good and Heisenberg is the Evil. I love Vince Gilligan

The name fits Walt because you can never know which Walt you're getting. The chemistry teacher? Or the budding criminal? He's in an uncertain quantum state & can never be pinned down. He's also an enigma to the cops because they can never observe him directly, only the effect he has on the streets.
His new persona IS the uncertainty principle. WW being a mild teacher, the 'principle' part kinda fits too. (I know, different spelling, but still...)

He published his work in 1925 in a breakthrough paper. In the subsequent series of papers with Max Born and Pascual Jordan, during the same year, this matrix formulation of quantum mechanics was substantially elaborated. He is known for the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, which he published in 1927. Heisenberg was awarded the 1932 Nobel Prize in Physics "for the creation of quantum mechanics". Kinda the godfather of physics which is the basis of all chemistry.

2) The actor who played Tuco ACTUALLY put out the cigarette on his tongue. It was completely improvised and shocked everyone on the set.
I love the character Tuco Salamanca, the total psycho. lol I read an article once, on Raymond Cruz, and it is said of him that he's such a sweetheart, but that playing Tuco took a lot out of him. He loved playing that character, tho.

This is one of the best episodes of the show and the one when Walt became Heisenberg. Tuco is only in 7 episodes in The BadVerse but is one of the best villain in it.

The final few scenes of this episode are some of the best in the season if not the show. Also I asked my dad about the chemo side effects after watching this season. He works as an administrator in the cancer wing of a hospital in Philly. He also has a private social work practice with people who have or have had cancer or who have family members who do. He said they dramatized the side effects some. U do lose your hair and get nausea, but there are more effective oral and IV anti:nausea drugs you can get especially now. And I think hair loss depends on the kind of chemo.

Tuco played one of the guys during the Card Game scene of Training Day, where Alonzo just ditches Ethan's character with the three Mexican gangbangers. Tuco's actor (Raymond Cruise) played the guy who was hopped up on drugs, thought he won that one hand when Ethan actually won, and flexed and repeated the "my shit PUSHED in BIG time!" line. The actor is fucking terrifying when cast in roles like that!
The cinematography and editing is some of the best of any tv show!
