It was really great to finally meet up and have a few beers! We'll get together for that grudge match at some point, the original 400 for Holey Goat is 4 weeks from being out of machine shop hell.

    Nice job with that 71.
Just throwing it out there.... you said that nobody's gonna want to restore that car.
I think it would be cool if you and Mark Worman got together and rebuilt it out of used metal and made it a drivable and restorable car.
An epic adventure for both you, and Graveyard Cars......
Lots of viewers would love it.

You started the burn out while the guy in front of you was still on the starting line. As an old man that happened to me at OCIR (you will know I am old when you look up the racetrack acronym for OCIR) in my 1970 Buick GS 455. The guy on the starting line light went green and he launched. I laid on the throttle of my torque monster Buick 455. The guy on the starting line in front of me hit the brakes, and put it in reverse to back up and try again, which is huge NO NO! I had to do a sudden move to the right, in order to not slam into the rear of the guy. starting line guy Larry Sutton and Charlie Allen where pissed at both of us, even though I could not see how any of it was my fault.

It's a matter of reading, and meeting the nhra checklist, hell, my local strip won't let me run my stock lowered s10.(studs don't stick through the lug nuts enough, even though several threads are sticking through)
And that strip is known for being super strict about tech.

I believe the owner of the strip let Dalton and Chris have a race the day after the event.

There’s a LOT more then “rules” going on, that old guy was there to rain on as many parades as he could because “this wouldn’t even happen if it was up to me” these same types infested my area to where not only did they get ALL our tracks shut down except one one that’s impossible to race on unless they like you but we all gave up going to tracks long ago, even better a couple are cops with raging wood to find & shut us down, haven’t run a car in a decade over this bs

I had a set of 383 heads ported once an they had taken out just a little to much in one of the ports for the exhaust an it ran fine till I tightened the radiator cap an it popped a pin hole threw the casting into the exhaust port so it cleaned it out an jb welded the surface of the port an slicked it down an fixed it it lasted for ever it was still running like that the last time I saw it but it ran great but it had like 11.5 to one compression so you had to run some good race fuel in it it was build pretty good dome pistons had the heads an block shaved the top of the pistons stuck out of the block an shims for head gaskets it was a 68 Plymouth sport fury no hesitation what so ever 900 cfm holly with a eddle Brock 6 inch tunnel ram you could duels quads on it with a plate I had but I just ran a single holly loved it factory Dana with high way gears .

Add spikes, bumper bars front, back, and sides, supercharger, offroad grooved hoosiers, body sanded down to metal and polished to chrome, ditch the trunk and add a platfrom the stand on.
