- After sitting abandoned in the trees and cut up for parts…this Dodge Charger finally gets built into what it was meant to be…a 1969 dodge Daytona track ready racecar
Chris you are living the life brother. When your not fixing someones toy charger, your building a cool toy for yourself, and at your skill level everyone watching is learning something worth knowing. Thanks for bring us along for the ride. Keep up the awesome content.
I live for the custom fabrication and metal work. More of this, please.
By far one of the coolest builds going on right now!
Nice Pentastar Mullet saver!
"JunkerUp, Days of Thunder" awesome project.. Hope will be Manual Transmission,,
I have a 71 that I’ve had since 1980, and of course I’m a Petty Fan, I came dam near doing his 71, Petty Blue and I let my old buddies talk me out of it but if I ever wanted to make a street car into a stock car it would of been The Kings 71, it was t that crazy, it was Plum Crazy, like that’s not nuts, hahaha. Do what you want it’s your wheels, Bobby Isaac’s car is bad ass, can’t wait to see it dome Chris, keep us up to date.
I was on the edge of my couch when Chris was about to name his build. Was it Richard Petty? Jack McCoy..? Who tf is that? 😂 Then I heard you wanted to paint it in ur uncle's colors. 👍 Cool 😎 That will be awesome! 1st Nascar race I ever went to was Firecracker 400 in Daytona, 1970. I was 15, so #71 car was there. 😋 This is fantastic series Chris, you da Man!
Damn this is awesome! Yes, you DO need a shop!
I know building this stuff is your passion, I can`t believe a millionare hasn`t approached you, bought a shop, with 3 or 4 Charger jigs, and are making 68 -69 Charger bodies for 50-60k apiece, I bet you could make a 1m in the first year, but then again, I think you would be bored. your bead rolling looks fantastic, and the pentastar, through the roof. your metal skills are just insane, the adjustable leaf spring risers off the top of your head, crazy talent. You the man.
The thunder in the background while showing the Vega hatch to Daytona rear window adaption was icing on the cake!
Great video Chris.
LOL "I need a shop" ... yep... a whole bunch of viewers have said it for years now... but hey better late than never! Daytona looks like it's coming along well. Keep on showing it as you go! Thanks for sharing
Good times. Best kind of
Video with cutting rusty metal 🎉
Pure enthusiasm and natural extreme craftsmanship
So freaking awesome! Can't wait for part 2. You do some awesome work. And I agree building race cars can be way more fun because you don't have to worry about it being accurate to factory. Just build it functional and cool looking.
So awesome 👍🏽👍🏽 can't wait for second or third of this build and see it running 👍🏽👍🏽
I love the idea of a Birdsong NASCAR Daytona of my very own. If you do go into production, I may just have to get in line.
Thatll be an awesome build chris cant wait to see it finished
Dude... I love your work!!!! You need a shop so bad!!! I was thinking king that long before the rain, btw. I would be down for a Daytona/Superbird clone street car... 😀
This is the most bad ass build to date ! the hell with all those show car high dollar builds. This is it ! love it
You've come a long, long way, Chris. I've been with you since the first video series on Patina - remember making that frame patch on the driver's side front, over the wheel? I knew you were special back then. You're so self-taught, you do things your own way, ignoring the cries of the purists. Soon, they will come to YOU for the "new" way of doing things. I'm sure it's happened already.
Pls make more of these, I wanna bring back ‘68-70 series nascar and trans am racing grassroots style. More builders like you are needed
Bobby Isaac's #71......legend!
Look up everything that car did, and it's records.
So glad you are back on UA-cam, amazing job as usual M8,love the bead rolling 👍. Can't wait for part 2. All the best Danny UK.
Thats going to be a nice build
these are your best videos diving in head first and rebuilding these chargers you should get Finnegan to bring his Daytona over for some rehab...
chris, its people like you that makes this a better world to live in phenominal work😍😍
Chris, you don't have to guarantee perfection and time.... I been watching with cold drink and sammich near by for 4 years. I stay hungry for fast fun and foolery(3Fs from here on out) I KNOW THAT YOU GOT THIS RIGHT DOWN TO THE BROKEN WING(last race) ON THE '71 ISSACS FUN HAVER BEAST.....
Man,,criss I just love your visions,,thanks for sharing!!!!!!
If I never peeked ahead, by the fifteen minute mark I would have thought the video would end with no car left and just a huge pile of metal on the ground. That roll cage must have been scared shitless thinking "if this is the way he treats vintage sheet metal, I dread what is going to happen to me".
love this cant wait to finish my 71 charger!
I love your Charger builds and your sheet metal work. I look forward to your next video upload 👌
Badass metal work, but that cage would drive me crazy, I like light racecars!!!
Chris, you got nothing but talent. You got more energy than 3 men. Always thinking 🤔 of ways to make the Chargers Better and unique.
You are an inspiration to us MoPar builders. I got a 70 R/T Charger tha I've been thinking about turning it into a winged car. Thanks for the info on the Vega hatch.
Awesome.
Great content as usual, and special thank you for wearing your Mid Minnesota Motor Heads shirt, and supporting our vets!
Excellent work as always Chris!!! This Daytona is going to be amazing!!! Can’t wait to see all the Daytona builds!!
Good Christ ‼️
That original roll cage was ,
0.120" wall thickness ??!!
I do prefer , your mechanical vision for this project , Chris 🙏
I absolutely 💯 love those ,
Front & rear clip improvements
I would seriously consider ultra-sounding the tubes of that roll cage to make sure that the tubing does not have rusty crusty spots In making that roll cage as useful as one made from cheap Chinesiam muffler tubing. Many years ago I purchased three dirt track chassis that had been sitting behind this old boys barn for about 5 years along with a with a garage full of parts when he lost interest in racing (actually his wife forced his losing interest but that is another story);Anyway I thought I had scored big picking up the parts and what appeared to be three well built late 1980’s MonteCarlo’s that was until I started looking a little closer and noticed the bottoms of pretty much every tube in the roll cages had slight bulge in them. I the drill a small hole in the several tubes and struck rusty water. I borrowed a ultra-sound machine from a buddy who did tech inspections for NHRA and several other series/sanctioning bodies and found that the bottom 2 feet of most every piece of tubing was junk because they were all rusting from the inside out.
Ur doing some amazing work
Couldn't agree more, with a hoist and a assembly table ! Your enthusiasm is addictive, wish I lived closer and was a little younger, I would volunteer to help and also learn. This is going to be a great build, never give up !
Can't wait to see more of this. And yeah, I would've cut that cage out too. Stronger and lighter is more better.
I enjoy watching you Chris please keep up with your videos
Always wanted a street legal vintage nascar
Gonna be a pretty sweet replica. Perfect car to do it to. She’s rough baby. But right up your alley.
I would absolutely buy race cars from you!!!!
Great you scored Bobby Sac's Car.
And yes, yes please do build more of these babies hell I'd buy one!
Yes... you definitely need a shop. You could build more betters in your own shop. The yard builds are cool. But a shop would be exactly what you need. With a lift, and wall to wall tools, your own paint booth. Outside of town on a old 2 lane black top so you can test run your builds without neighbors complaining all the time. And alot of land attached to it so you can stockpile donor cars and future projects. It would be like living the dream.
Chris you're the man thanks for posting
I have always loved the Daytona chargers and super birds, I look forward to watching this build 😁😁👍👍
This is awesome
Extremely talented my man and love these types of builds
Love the Vanishing Point music!
Thanks for sharing…
You're doing something I have always wanted to do....exciting!
amazing work a real pleasure to watch and learn from keep the videos coming
Very cool. I enjoy your fabrication!
Someone needs to get this man a real shop so he can really put some work out without weather delay. I can't imagine working in Vegas heat
I could watch you build these all day long. The more you do them the better you're going to get.
Some guys back in the day cut up drive shafts and made roll cages ,like I said back in the old days 👍🏻
Badass I love it
This is gonna be a cool build,a general lee and now a Daytona Nascar Awesome!
Men this is cool as shit ,can t wait to see the next part of this 🤙
Can’t wait to see this one done, way cool
Thanks for sharing.
Oh good lord 300 is my AMA #. I’m in love with it already. Keep the number! Or if I come into money let me buy it!!!
Chris you are a wizard at this stuff never stop doing what you love.
Dear Lord, Chris, Daytona NASCAR charger (x2)!!?? WOW WOW WOW.
Mate chip fuse may be a better drawer. . .but hes got nothing on you chris!love your work man!!thanks for your time!✌🏻
You have done an excellent job fixing the car right. Cant wait to see what comes next.
Lucky grab! Thats what every custom car guy wants to find
Looks like another channel locked in, thanks to Newbern sending me over... The way Chargers have climbed in value, I wish I had latched onto that abandoned one up in northern New Brunswick back in the 80s. It looked complete except for motor and trans. Shame. I still think about it, and looked for it but the yard was cleaned up long ago...
Dude! You are the "Mopar Whisper"!!!!
Love all the hard work
Awesome build series
Great content
Going to be amazing man.👌👌👍
Wow! What a find man..
Love your work Chris, keep them coming mate , 👍🇭🇲
Looking really good 👍🇺🇸
That's going to be sweeeet! Can't wait to see it done! The Daytona is my favorite muscle car ! ( nascar) LOL i have built a couple Daytona nascar models! Keep up the great work and post more videos on the build!
I recently found a dirt late model from tgd 90s in really good shape with the wide 5 hubs and thought dam this would look great with a 70s Camara body shell on it for the street big tires and all.
i hope god blesses you with a big shop 🙂🙂😎😎I've been wanting a big shed myself to build my 1973 HQ Holden Monaro coupe & 1973 HJ Holden Ute
YEP. Liked and subscribed. Look'n' for part two. Also, need to get on the waitlist for a Birdsong NASCAR Charger.
Love this project!!
The aero warrior 4 would be sweet. Talladega, Spoiler II, Daytona, and Superbird, add in the ARCA cars too? Oh yeah!
Full Joe dirt winged car replica would be cool
Nothing like cooking some breakfast and drinking some Sam Adam's October fest. And watching your videos. Maybe one of these days I'll get a chance to watch you race the modified.
The car is coming along nicely 👍👍
I really love watching the metalwork shit
Rock on bro 🤜💥🤛
Great project Chris looking forward to seeing the build,
I did a similar thing to a 2 Dr 72 ford cortina MK3 here in the UK from a road car during COVID , these were never raced in anger in the UK ( unlike the 60's mk1-2 version) even though they were the sales leader during the 70's.
Even though I have several other good examples in my collection ,this one is the most fun as I don't have to care about the paint work, panel gaps, or correct parts.
Just thrash the living daylights out of it!!
Very cool, Chris.
Awesome work
Great work Chris, love this content, the transformation is just amazing.
awesome! youve needed a shop for years
Why my favorite cars don't care for red but I love that car for some reason Bobby Isaac was a hero of mine when he went out to the Bonneville and set all the records love your work😊
If you do build more and sell them, I’d definitely buy one from you, I love daytonas.
that is coming along Nice!
Awesome Bro 😎
Dude! You always make the big jobs look and sound so easy. Very impressive work my friend. Only come with experience. So amazing.
