Oh hey, that's our map(the giant flat earth map with two extra rings). We ain't flat earthers, we're actually just worldbuilders! Our map simply get's stolen by flat earthers lol(chunkybats being the most egregious example) I've been working on the setting for about a year now and it's actually a blast, having more land let's us come up with tons of new countries and places with unique cultures. We actually eventually plan on making a TTRPG about this map if you're interested

My husband and I are both AuDHD. Part of this is that we mimick the people around us in tone and vocabulary. We have to be careful or we'll end up mirroring each other until we're speaking in really odd voices and people stare, haha.

Same here. My brain loves a bit of echolalia, so I sometimes repeat words, phrases or sounds around me, either to manage stress or because the noise tickles my brain. Before I knew I was autistic, I never knew why my brain would get 'stuck' in an accent. The best way I can describe it is that it's like getting a song in your head, except it's a set of phonemes, so there are times when I cannot form my 'natural' phonemes without effort because a different set is stuck in there.

One more relevant thing to add to the discourse about voice switching, I think a lot of it can also be quite related to transphobia, or just general stuff in general, like Anastasia said.
As a transfemme, working on my voice really forced me to come to terms with that, where I've landed, I really don't think there is a "real" voice. As you were talking about, it's always adjusted consciously or not. It honestly upsets me when trans people talk about their old voice as "real" voice. My masc voice was not any more real than my fem is now. If I try to talk like that anymore I genuinely do not recognize myself and it feels horrible. And obviously, this is me adjusting to fit who I was and wanted to be with an active change, but the same thing can really apply to any type of voice change. People are able to change their voice, and how they naturally speak, it just is possible and people don't realize it. The voice you feel most comfortable in is your most "real" voice

I feel similarly. As someone who’s transmasc and started talking lower to help voice dysphoria before going on testosterone, it really bothers me when people make fun of someone for changing their voice. Even if they are deliberately changing it, maybe they just like it better? I don’t see what’s wrong with using your voice to present yourself in whatever way you want just like you would with clothes or hair. I get why people might find it odd or be surprised at first since a lot of times we use someone’s voice to identify/recognize them, but someone’s voice isn’t set in stone and will shift naturally in different contexts a lot anyway, like customer service voice, so I wish it wasn’t as big of a deal as people tend to make it.
@@imrastar7055 I've been on T for a couple years and I do tend to speak lower in public but also I still can revert to high pitched customer service voice I grew up doing 😅 and it depends if my voice is tired. I can't talk low without also speaking with a vocal fry and that feels like it works out my vocal chords more

In online spaces I've seen fans of ppl who use fem presenting avatars (mainly vtubers) have this weird in-joke where they claim that they want to hear the person's "real voice" and expose that they're like, a dude acting as a cute anime girl or whatever. It always rubs me off in the wrong way bcs at the end of the day, that doesn't change the persona herself. why are we so obsessed with "exposing" people for what they sound like behind the screen if all it does is make everyone involved uncomfortable?

Also, people who are really vocally skilled can change a lot about their voices further than ohh they sing gud. I notice a lot of voice actors (legit voice actors, not just celebs in animated movies) can usually sing pretty well.

Hey, former vet tech here with explaination and advice. We had a lot of problems with people trying to get Ivermectin from us and had to change our prescription policy as well. There are also people who try to snag controlled substances through pet prescriptions.
The trick though is that you can request a written prescription anytime. You don't need to get it from a vet office. They might tell you things like "we can't guarantee the ones you get elsewhere are legitimate" on behalf of corporate pressure, but they'll give you the written one and you can get that to chewy.
However it is absolutely stupid that these are behind this dumb paywall. You're right, there is no medicine in it. It's just like if you were gluten intolerant and a doctor needed to sign off on your keto meals. It's stupid.

The issue with Ariana is that the vocal changes happen to align with what racial group she's pandering to. She (very consistently) spoke lowering when she spoke with a blaccent. After she switched up and is pandering to the kpop market, she coincidentally has shifted to more consistently speaking in a falsetto, which closet emulates female east Asian norms.
Of course a singer can shift their voice and will for vocal health. But with her it aligns with other instances of abnormal "culture vulture" stuff. Meme clips just lose that nuance

People don’t know girls code switch but it’s with tones. Some people with speak with a higher pitch, some people we will let our voices relax, other I deepen my voice to show authority and that I’m serious. Hehe
i also change my voice a lot too. my voice when i’m around family and close friends is different from my voice when i’m speaking to people such as a professor or a boss for example. it’s also partially due to code switching as a black woman too though. it’s not strange to me that people change their voice. in fact i grew up with other women in my family speaking about how it is often necessary in certain spaces

idk if this is more of a thing with just MY vet but in my country (even though it cost a lot of money once you get there) will advice you whether or not they feel you need to come in if you call. I once called bc my dog had a worried stomach and they advised me on over the counter things I could buy and then told me to wait a little longer and to make sure his general mood didn’t change. He got better in a couple of days and I saved a lot of money

I've had this happen exactly once, and it was because my dog had kennel cough. They actually didn't want me to bring her in because it's so contagious, and because there's not much they can do until/unless there's a complication. In general though, they tell me to come in. IMO, vets are worse than dentists for emptying one's bank account.
@@emisformaker yeah kennel cough is basically a common cold for dogs so unless they’re having like heavy breathing issues or a fever they can’t do anything. Good they didn’t bring you in and charge you just to take your dogs temp!
@@casrrole the one thing that truly pissed me off more than anything before i quit my job working the front desk at a VCA animal clinic was them introducing a new "just book it!!!" policy (complete with stupid animated training video program) where they literally told all their receptionists to NOT do this-- that, no matter what, if someone calls and is worried about their animal, DON'T ask any follow-up questions about the animal's condition or symptoms or circumstances, (because it "comes across as diagnosing over the phone,") and JUST book them for the soonest available appointment. because the "best thing for the animal is to be seen!" when, uh.... there are tons of situations where thats NOT the case? such as in this situation, where coming in to the vet might actually stress the animal out more, or a situation where an animal is in, like, you know, a CRITICAL EMERGENCY and should be being taken to the ER RIGHT NOW, not wasting time waiting for an appointment that got booked for two days from now, (or even that afternoon!) because the receptionist didn't ask any questions... super transparent ploy from the MARS corporation that owns VCA to just make more money at the expense of animals and their people... so some vets are ABSOLUTELY just trying to make money off of people... or rather, their corporate overlords are, while the actual employees who work in the clinic and actually care about the animals they're treating are dragged along...

100% find a new vet, that policy is honestly super sketch and doesn't provide a lot of confidence in their recommendations if all of them are gonna just be to make that specific vet office more money. Also, I feel you on the cost - I have an asthmatic cat with a couple other health issues, and she costs me a couple hundred per month just in medications and whatnot; thankfully I can get that stuff on Chewy at a lower cost (per recommendation of my vet even!)
P.S. I can 100% imagine Jordan being the kinda cat owner that has like 3 cats but they just wander around his place without drawing attention, so at some point a friend finally sees one and goes "you have a cat, when did you get her?!" and he goes "a couple years ago, the other two needed another cat to play with" 🤣

A huge chunk of our time is spent signing off on these prescriptions and sending them back, and Chewy in particular is notorious for being very hard to work with. For example they will tell the owner they’ve waiting on us for approval, but they never actually sent it to us in the first place. Or if we actually do receive it and send the approval back to them, it mysteriously gets lost and they keep sending new requests for things we already approved. Which results in frustrated clients not getting their prescriptions in a timely manner, and the vet staff wasting a bunch of time trying to troubleshoot issues with the online pharmacy. They definitely should have given him a heads up that their policy was changing, and it’s totally within his right to switch to a vet that will be more convenient for him, but unfortunately it’s just not sustainable for a lot of clinics to work with online pharmacies anymore. Hope that provides some insight!

on vet bills: there are low-cost options for people with lower incomes (funded by donations and grants).
we (vet community) know the bills are expensive, but our costs have also increased dramatically. the equipment, utilities, cost to pay trained/educated staff (who are still typically underpaid), etc., is a lot to maintain, too. the vet field is full of empathetic people that would absolutely perform services for free/out of the goodness of their hearts if they could!
it always sucks whenever people can't afford vet care (we're all well aware it's crazy expensive and we hate it too...) but likewise hilarious whenever people assume that anyone in the vetmed industry is "just in it for the money!" because it's like.... lol, where? almost everyone is underpaid, and do you have any idea how much the megacorporations that supply our equipment/drugs/lab tests are charging us?!

I work at a pet supoly store, Jarvis is right about switching dog foods being hard on their tummys but you can mitigate that by slowly introducing the food. You do a quarter new food and 3 quarters old food for the first 2 days, than go up another quarter for it to be half new food for 2 days, and so on

Hey Jarvis! In regards to your dog food woes, see if you can order directly from the manufacturer! I know both Purina and Hill's Science Diet have this ability, and I'm like 85% sure Royal Canin does as well. Most vets can set you up with it and then the company ships it directly to your house. If your vet gives you issues for ordering directly from the manufacturer then I would definetly look for a new vet. Purina also has a HP prescription diet that could work if you haven't already tried it, and tends to be more available. As someone who works customer service for a vets office: I swear we don't make it like this on purpose. My office, for example, can't do the Auth for outside pharmacies because we're small, and the clinic has to pay for the portals used to approve things. There are also people who used to stockpile specialized foods either to resell or just to use themselves on puppy farms. The price of vet med is also increasing because there is a Countrywide shortage of vets, and way too many pets being bred with no consideration for future health complications. It's a field that suffers from a high rate of...unaliving ones self and only recently has there been a support system for them. It does suck but for the most part, it's honestly not the vet hospitals fault. (In my small personal experience, that is)

I appreciate the rant about vet prices; my dog has always had digestive issues, and the only thing that has helped her is adding pumpkin to her food, I'm not sure what it is about pumpkin, but her poops always come out good when I use it combined with food that is easy digestion. Now that she's a senior, she has had a few other things pop up, including possibly having Cushings disease, all the tests added up to almost $2000! ASPCA/Humane Society might be able to help those that are low income, but it's never a guarantee if they don't think it's worth the cost.

On the vets not approving outside scripts - it is becoming more common of an issue. Companies like Chewy have siphoned a lot of prescription and food revenue from vet clinics, and going through mountains of requests to approve for an outside pharmacy is time consuming for the clinic staff. Still kinda ridiculous because the food shouldn't *technically* be prescription, but some of those diets are not appropriate unless the animal has certain health conditions, so there needs to be some boundaries.
I am a youngin and recently got diagnosed with sleep apnea and have a nose mask. I used to have nappies all the time but now I can stay awake during the day! The nose mask is actually pretty comfy. It is amazing how my life has changed since I have been using it regularly. I cannot recommend trying and sticking to it enough.
One does not simply sail to Antarctica. But you definitely can, if you want. There are restrictions in place when it comes to businesses and industry and tourism and such. But it's not illegal for a private person to sail to Antarctica. You're surely gonna die, but no one is gonna stop you. South Antarctic Sea has the harshest conditions of any of the oceans. Largest waves, highest winds, a part of it even has _the_ strongest average winds found anywhere on Earth, because down there they can blow around the entire globe unimpeded by any land-mass. In winter part of the ocean surrounding Antarctica freezes as well. But icebergs can occur at any time of year throughout the ocean. Some may have drafts up to several hundred meters. It's also very, very remote from every other land mass, the closest is the southern tip of South America. Meaning, if something goes awry, don't count on any search and rescue being able to reach you in time - if at all. On top of all that I've also heard it's supposed to be really, really chilly.

i got a cpap machine about 2 years ago now, and it is very hard for me to get used to.
if you want any advice (for anybody!),
-in the beginning you should have it on during the day, just get used to the sensations of it (it’s so so weird having air pumped into your lungs, you gotta get used to that before you can even think of sleeping)
-also you really Need to mess around with different masks. usually companies have a wide variety of options and will let you try various ones on at appointments
i keep waking up with my mask off and having only gotten around 2-3 hours of sleep with it on usually :(
it really is so hard to get used to but God Damn when i was using it for the first time super consistently, i’m not even joking, my depression got better. like. i just went my first winter without getting crippling seasonal depression.
we seriously need to talk more about how our mental health is often tied to our quality of sleep btw ^^ its actually crazy
