    From this song onwards, Rhymesayers figured out they need to post the lyrics to Aesop tracks, you can find them all in the descriptions. This one has subtitles too.

    "floss the albatross like Daddy Kane with the chain" - The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, epic poem by Coleridge, stars a doomed sailor who killed an albatross (a huuuge sea bird, up to 30 pounds) and cursed the whole crew. They made him wear the bird's corpse around his neck (like Big Daddy Kane's chain) as a punishment and badge of shame
    Stolkholm syndrome is intense sympathy with your captors. Lima syndrome is intense sympathy with your victims. "in flux", meaning he goes back and forth between the two states as his own captor and victim (he has a tendency of isolating himself and shutting himself up alone to work on projects)
    A really underrated track that's one of my favorites is "Grace." If you like that he raps about simple things like his cat in complicated ways, Grace is a must. Makes me super nostalgic too

    He's basically talking about his disgust in the rap scene and how subpar artists act like they're hot shit and about him wanting to be separated from that "party over here I'll be over there"

    You’re killing it! At this point my suggestion would be to react to an entire Aesop album.

      Aes's album Float is the ONE THING THAT SHOULD BE CREATED IF ONLY ONE THING COULD BE CREATED & i mean over engines, windows, bridges, cheese, etc. Float is a better creation than all of it

    "Take My Hand" (Dark Time Sunshine),"Kiln" (Hail Mary Mallon), and "Syrup" are significantly deeper dives, but really worth checking out. "Syrup" is an introvert anthem, right there.

    This song is about mainstream rappers. Basically saying they're all the same and not a threat to him because nobody can copy him. The duck line in the beginning is a shot at drake. A drake is a male duck. Demons and ducks, the demons being the labels. Mingling akin to being seasoned and stuffed, basically saying if he mingled with those labels they'd butcher his style and prepare him to be sold by their recipe, like drake

    Steep in a self imposed Stockholm and Lima in flux... Stockholm syndrome is when a hostage starts relating to the captor and Lima is opposite.. He's feeling as if he's his own captor and hostage simultaneously.

  • @skandalousbytch
    @skandalousbytch Рік тому +3

    My understanding is he's talking trash about the hip hop industry, but you can really expand it out to cover way more territory.

    Ay man, if you wanna blow the minds of a few Aesop fans, do the song ''Take a titty out''. I bet a ton of them never heard of it. And it's......fire.

  • @RavenousCatalyst594
    @RavenousCatalyst594 Рік тому +5

    Stockholm syndrome is when hostages start to have feelings of sympathy for the captors & Lima Syndrome is when the hostage takers start sympathizing with the hostages so self-imposed is pretty messed up

      @@TexasGreed fo real tho! perfect example of how every 2 words have value & r there cuz they do matter, have meaning within the art/track he's creating.. & hey Dreamer i find impact of his art is felt soul-deep when broken into 3-word increments!! once i knew every word had worth i didn't need to understand or get overwhelmed by every lyric every time, i could sit back & just enjoy, knowing i had decades to wrap mind around every 3 words

      What do you think of Cambatta? Only other I can think of right now that I gotta put in some work for. DOOM for fun and Eyedea for introspection were both on the level of Aesop. Taken too soon.
      E-dubble too. Should've been a household effigy. Man was all about the community.
