      no other 'rapper' could wrap their tongues around Aesop's lyrics & no MC could spit his lyrics at the pace Aesop does, soooo Aesop could spit #Eminem,JayZ, Lupe etc, BUT NONE OF EM COULD SPIT AESOP

    • @RavenousCatalyst594

      uh...is that an ironic "what Drake rhymes with OK" reply? give me an adjective or sumthing ...a name of MC u think could wrap tongue round Aesop....u try reading his lyrics out loud while song is playing in background & see how well u keep up=whether Aesop b rapper or not. i still can't say "beautiful cartoon troopers swallow brutal futility with a teaspoonful of sugar" to the beat of Big Bang

      sho nuff the energy in his performance is black hole type of force vs. feul injected hyfe, in that his art, LIVE, stops time, changes movement of wave patterns (light and brain) & once u feel there is no coming back to prior level. READING HIS LYRICS IS POWERFUL BUT HIS PERFORMANCE OF THEM IS SUPERNATURAL ENERGY

      i saw aesop at one of his ACTUAL sets not playing one song on LIVE tv for the first time. Give the guy a break he is a very reclusive person, he was out of his comfort zone. Trust me at his concerts its way different. The only other artist I have seen who has stage performance like him is tech n9ne. Aesop raps his entire songs unlike a lot of artists i see only doing one or two verses and he doesnt have hype man doing every other line like some do. Also talk about performance ive never heard a rapper who enunciated every word as well as aesop. You may have no idea what hes talking about but you hear every word clear as day unlike eminem which is like trying to understand an auctioneer eating a pb&j sandwich

    @kellyrankin8844 7 років тому +728

    I'm glad to see him getting some recognition, but his lyrics are somethin you gotta get used to before you can appreciate really. Maybe some people will look into it after seeing that, though

    • @Bartholomule01
      @Bartholomule01 7 років тому +19

      The good thing is that even though truly digging leads to a better appreciation of his lyrics, the lyrics on "Impossible Kid" are less veiled for the most part as compared to earlier projects.
      So it has the potential to have larger appreciation, also he really nailed the production this time around. A lot of people got less interested when Blockhead quit being part of the equation but Aes has found a style that really fits him, a definite improvement from "Skelethon" back in 2012.

    • @kellyrankin8844
      @kellyrankin8844 7 років тому +5

      I think his work with Kimya Dawson might have set him in that direction of finding a balance between straight forward and abstraction. I can appreciate both styles and I think he nailed it on IK.

    • @kellyrankin8844
      @kellyrankin8844 7 років тому +7

      Also, I love Skelethon and don't think Impossible Kid is fundamentally better than it although it does seem like hes digging deeper and it shows.

    • @Bartholomule01
      @Bartholomule01 7 років тому

      +Kelly Rankin Yeah, I actually do like "Skelthon" but I guess 8 personally like the beats better on "Impossible Kid"
      "Skelethon" is actually the first full solo project I listened to by Aes. His project with Kimya is what I first heard, I was a bit familiar with Kimye and thought it sounded like an interesting idea.
      I definitely got interested in Aes from there with all the heart he put into his lyrics on that project, so I checked "Skelethon" as it was the closest release at the time, glaf I found him overall, I have dug quote a bit deeper since then.

    • @ronark4933
      @ronark4933 7 років тому +13

      I listened to his earlier work via recommendation from a coworker. Not being a fan of hip-hop I found it very jarring. But, then I stumbled upon The impossible kid, and though the lyrics are still very cryptic and enigmatic, I found it very appealing. The more I listen, the more I get him. It took awhile, but I've really began to appreciate his earlier work. It's like jazz; if you don't know what you're listening to, odds are you won't like it. But, if you're acclimated to the style/atmosphere of the music, you can find an appreciation for it.
      When you become aware of the technical aspects of such a high caliber lyricist, it's a lot easier to digest what they're saying and at least begin to comprehend it.

    Lol @ all these people being elitist about knowing Aes first and then going "the song is insulting the audience"... it's about other rappers, not the fans, and the song literally states as much outright. I'm all for TIK getting recognition - it's a great album and deserves lots of people listening to it.

    Its really dope to see aes finally getting some real recognition. I've been listening to him for the last 10 years and I always wondered why he was so underrated. I did notice that he did adapt to the times a little more with this album which was one thing I felt he needed to do simply just to get a little more known but was worried it would ruin what makes him so great, but he was able to pull it off perfectly and still keep the style and feel that he's known for. Hats off.

    Aes is the best out there in my opinion. His lyrics are just insane and his beats are so original. The Impossible Kid is his best, also my opinion, which is great because he's only gonna get better. Saw him live last year and he was incredible and you could tell he really enjoyed being there even in a small room in Maine. On the other hand I saw J. Cole, who i think is really talented for a mainstream artist, and he put on a terrible show. Barely gave a fuck to be there. It was nice to see someone like Aes kill it and appreciate his fans!!
