I wanted to pin this to mention important points others have made in the comments! If you have anything to add, do mention it! 👍 - The foam itself isn't removable on the Rift S but that whole front piece is! You can use Alridge, Riftcraft, or Alvr to play steam games on the Quest! I meant Robo Recall and not the movie Total Recall, I did not watch Total Recall in VR! Some have made a good case for the 128GB Quest so don't rule it out completely! Thanks for watching!
Daniel Romero please reply to me but all I want to know is the quest can connect to steam because the games on steam I have because I want to get VR and it being wireless is better but I do have a gaming PC so I'm stumped Which one I should go for cuz I want wireless but don't know if it can connect to steam or if I should go for the rift s cuz I know it can connect to steam but the wire would be a Hassel and I'd probably mess it up pls help (Pls share link of the games on the Oculus store cuz they don't look horrible)
I am sorry to say, but I have been noticing a level of elitism among PC VR headset users toward those who like the Quest. Look, I know that a PC will always be the way to go if you want to develop for multiples headsets, get the most power, etc., but there is no question that the Quest is quite a marvelous device. Not everyone in the world can afford and invest in an expensive PC plus a good headset (if you're going to dish out that much, why not just go for the best headsets then?). I have felt severely excluded talking to people in general VR subreddits when I tell them how excited I am to finally get my Quest and finally be able learn to develop 6DoF VR despite having a relatively weaker PC. "Hm, you COULD do it, but it's a pain to have to wait to deploy it every time to your headset to run." So, you're saying that a majority of people just have a powerful PC lying around and they decided to get a Quest? How about all the people who want to finally be able to start somewhere, even if it's not the most optimal option, but don't have much money? Isn't that why a lot of people got the Quest in the first place? Should I just sit around not being able to join in at all because it's not "the most powerful" or "fastest" thing to use? Reviews speak for themselves, and people on the r/OculusQuest subreddit have been very understanding and helpful to newcomers instead of looking down on them. Sorry for the rant. You're free to like what you like, but please be respectful to those who do not have the same opportunities as you. VR is great! :)
I agree. I have both a PSVR (my first VR headset) and then eventually upgraded to an Oculus Rift when I got my PC Gaming Rig. I have some PC gaming friends that also have a similar "Elitist" attitude when I mentioned that I have an interest in also picking up a Quest. They say"Why the hell would you bother with that thing if you already have a Rift?". I just love VR gaming and would love to be able to have something portable that I can also take to my non-VR friend's houses to show them how cool VR is.
I saw something similar but elitism against even the Rift S. Because of the onboard tracking, some people with a vive pro say it doesn’t have a place etc. The rift S was perfect for me because I have a pc but no room to be setting up sensors properly. The quest is ridiculously cool for what it is and I’m glad the VR market is opening up for more people to experience, that’s only good for the future of VR.
I have a Rift CV1 and an Alienware laptop. I like VR but I personally hate messing around with a computer and sensors. I work a lot and don’t have much time to play games, so I always wanted more of a console experience with VR. With that being said, I really like my Oculus Quest! I really enjoy the freedom of being wireless and roomscale tracking without having to set up sensors. I also think the portability is great because my job requires me to travel a lot. I have the traveling case for the quest and I feel like it’s perfect for me 👍🏻
really are you messing your so amazing thank you for putting this, ive been thinking of either the quest or something else but youve fully made my mind up thank you
Since you've used both can you say visually is the quest better than the shift S? I was set to get the Shift S then they announced the cable link to use the quest with a PC and now I'm leaning toward the Quest. I just want to make sure I won't be losing any visual quality by going with the Quest.
With the Quest connected to the pc you are going to see the corners with a LOWER RESOLUTION than in the center, when the image is "clear" as the rift s

I like the quest a lot and I have both the S and the Quest. I find the quest really damn uncomfortable and the S just a joy to wear in comparison except for the fracking cable. I do find myself in the quest more due to the freedom. Also the facial interface is removable on the S did you not actually try?
I have the 128g and im already down to 90g left. Dont forget its just not about the game file sizes, its updates to those games you downloaded, system updates, and any media you may want to put on it. Go 128g all the way unless you don't have the coin.
That model is over priced tho. Being $100 more. Should have only had the 64 Gig with an Micro SD card slot. 128 Gig Micro SD card is only $20 USD on Amazon.
I have both (watch my channel) and I personally think the Rift S beat the Quest in everything but portability/wireless plus blacks. Rift S is a upgrade from the OG Rift. The Rift S screen is so sharp and clear. This is thanks to the super less VR artifacts that you get with other headsets like the Quest. Remember there is no ipd manual adjustment on the Rift S so check you fit into this ipd range before buying it.
Sure, but can you play Rift S without an expensive PC? Most people don't have the pocket change to dish out money for both a dedicated VR-ready PC and a headset. The Quest is the best thing for someone who is poor but super interested in VR like me. I can even create things in Unity and deploy it to be run on the hardware of the headset, so no need for a PC until later when I can feel that it would be worth it to invest in such a PC for development. (You could be super interested in VR but find that you either don't have good enough skills to make anything worthwhile or just don't have time to do invest in it, then realize you spent $1600+ on all of that. Then the next best hardware comes out.)
Ik where you are coming from but this is about the headset rather than its accessibility. The rift s is better in every single way besides the wire. If you dont have a good pc then the quest is better.
@@MiniShoey nah. If ya have a good Wifi connection you can go with Alvr. With Alvr the rift s is completely outplayed. The Quest can go to 2024x 2024 resolution with some sideload apps. And the black is much better.

@@MioMate There is always latency issues which mean youre not doing 1:1 with ALVR. Plus visual artifacts which you conveniently forget to mention. Comparing resolution? Why not talk about the subpixel difference between an S and a Quest? Jorg Blackstone honestly the only down side is the tracking, don’t get me wrong it’s great, but the position on the cameras they chose is very odd and leaves the controllers to not track sometimes. For me it’s not too much of a problem But the screen is wayyyy better than the rift and that alone makes me never able to go back
After buying the Quest as my first VR headset just recently, I think I get why Oculus is neglecting the Rift S. I'd take a guess that Oculus didn't anticipate this kind of headset to be possible in the early stages of development. And when push came to shove, they wound up with a solid PC-VR headset in the Rift S, and also an unintentional competitor to that same headset at the same time, the Quest. Whatever the case may be, I'd call it a major win for VR. Wireless, stand-alone VR is absolutely the future these companies want to strive towards. And Oculus, intentional or not, managed to put out the first big step in that direction already. There's no way they drop the Quest line at one unit. They absolutely have long-term plans for this now.
Same here was saving to upgrade my pc and pick up a pc headset then the quest happened and that went out window , great piece of kit everyone I have showed has had a massive smile on their face
"lots and lots of cool steamvr games you can't play on the quest" one word....ALVR(Air Light VR) what ALVR IS: alvr is an app which is available for gear vr and oculus go on the oculus store if yo uredeem the code and is in alpha for the oculus quest,it can be sideloaded on the quest and what it does is it lets you connect to your pc WIRELESSLY with low latency and perfect head tracking, alvr is currently in alpha 5 and might come out of alpha soon,it is very effective which makes htc vive, rift s and any other headset with external sensors and wires useless
At the moment it's pretty shitty performance in ALVR, and you need very fast internet which is a big con for me. I would use ALVR if there was wired support with low latency, but there isn't. Maybe in the future it will be better.
@@thememekeep9906 yeah quest users often tout it as the end of rift s that they can ALVR to play everything but damn, the performance due to streaming is horrendous if youre playing anything intensive
I've heard about it, I've also heard about compatibility issues, and latency, along with worser visuals. And disconnection issues. And requiring a 5ghz wifi. I've heard about it. I've also heard about the 80 dollar chord you can buy now for the quest to connect it to the BETA program on pc. Which crashes, has issues, and many games won't recognize it. I've heard about it.
@Geordi Wentworth The Quests display has a MUCH greater screen door effect, so much that I returned it and got the Rift S and was amazed at the difference. Things looked oversaturated on the quest actually, and colors start to bend in black scenes up close. It was nasty to me. The Rift S looked so smooth, and crispt. And the 80htz panel was a big difference for me. The quest just feels like a cheap alternative. And I don't want to buy an 80 dollar fiber chord which may, or may not work well.
@Geordi Wentworth Happy for you bro. Happy for anyone who enjoys their purchase. For me personally I just relised "I don't play my VR except at my pc" So the Quest "move anywhere you want" thing just died for me really quickly. It was fun to show to friends. I have i3 7100 (dual core with 4 threads) and 8gbs of ram with a 1060 3gb. And I play every game very very nicely, and easily. People think you need this expensive system but you don't lol. Only if you want to play on ultra. I love it man, got it for 350 from black friday. And that's it, it just works.
I don't think you're right with saying they're mostly great for people who are already interested in vr. I've seen so many people show their friends and family and they end up buying the quest.
@@davidste60 It will be too little too late I think. I imagine it might be a similar situation like the Wii, where everyone is initially wow'd and amazed, sales skyrocket and then everyone stops using it after they finish Wii Sports and Zelda. There's a huge install base yet everyone stops paying attention to it and moves on. As of now, if you're not a PC gamer or don't care for PlaystationVR, there's absolutely no reason to get into VR...except for VRchat.
@@Westile - There is a danger of that happening, and it's strange how oculus didn't make sure there were plenty of compatible experiences for the launch. I can only think if I had made a popular game (by VR standards) it would be my number one priority to get it on this contagious device before people get bored of it.
I have both and the Rift S is an improvement over the original Rift, not a big improvement but still worth the upgrade for the slightly clearer visuals and the comfort is a BIG improvement. Halo strap is the way forward. Quest is great for watching movies in bed as my PC is in another room and also the fact you take it with you and play it anywhere is a big plus point. As for fogging all you have to do is wear whatever VR you have on top of your head for 5 to 10 mins before use to allow your body temperature to heat up the lenses. Fogging occurs when cool lenses meet your warm face. This tip works 100% for all variations of Oculus and I hope it helps some of you. Good honest review by the way
Great review! This technology will get only better, so I can't wait to see the upcoming future improvements on these all-in-one Quest-like VR headsets. Heck, I might pick even up on one, or just wait a year for the next possible upcoming one. My current PC with a GTX 1050/i5-8300H doesn't fit the current recommended requirements of PC-VR & I'm not in a position where I can just drop money on a GTX 1070/1080, not to mention my computer can do all the things that I want, including video/photo editing just fine and I can run Triple A titles with the settings tweaked just fine as well, so I have no reason to drop my hard earned money on all these crazy upgrades.
Yes! as of right now, the best any or us can do is have an Oculus Quest for room scale and a Pimax for simulators...we'll see how the Index stacks up when it gets here...
I have the old rift and wouldnt downgrade to a quest. The quest games look cartoony. Also i dont want to worry about battery life. Most gamez i play arent on quest. Im debating about getting a valve index but the price is crazy
J Simmons phones cost as much but they are on a monthly payment. Not a all in one drop in money. But for people such as me being a young teen, there’s no way I can afford to get the index.
I went with a rift S in the end and its been real good so far (playing contractors with protube) but I really like the standalone console idea for VR and no doubt the Quest will be hacked sometime soon, so you can do what you want anyway.
Yea, I went also with the Rift S, and I have to say that it's not bad at all. I have a decent PC and that was the reason why I went with it, games run smooth and the quality is great. I actually wanna try the Quest just to see the difference
Paradox Yes it will but games like Asgard‘s wrath it gets really laggy and I have a really fast Internet connection. I think I have a quest thinking about getting a rift s also
The Quest is not an upgrade from the original Rift. It does have it's pros but a PC headset will out preform and offer more vr experiences than the Quest can ever offer
I personally wouldn’t even bother trying it with a 960. The S is ideal with 1070 and up imo. I had lots of issues with a 1060 and didn’t really enjoy it much until I tried on a friends pc with a 2060.
I currently own an oculus quest 128 gigs that I baught last weekend and honestly it is the best purchase I have ever made in my life. I bought 3 games so far, superhotvr, beatsaber and robo recall and all of them got me to break a sweat after playing for 2h. I chose it because of its portability factor and no pc requirement. Last few days I went to a party full of people whom i don't know of I brought my oculus to said party so that way I had my own entertainment, With the quest being portable it really plays well with those type of situations.
The Rift S is more comfortable. The Rift S has awesome visuals, the best I have seen and I own an Odyssey +. Rift S can play games like Skyrim, Fallout 4, Hellblade and upcoming games like Stormland that the Quest will never be able to play. You and many others are giving the Quest too many passes! The only advantage the Quest has is that it is wireless.
In my experience, the visuals weren’t that much better in the games I play and things were a bit crisper (easier on my eyes) on the Quest. The thing is, I was using my brothers pc and his is at the bottom end of the specs for playing VR so things weren’t running great on that but that’s all I had. I just really like what Oculus has done with the Quest and find it to be an incredible achievement!
Daniel Romero I am playing Hellblade with my Rift S and it looks incredible. The visuals are so good I catch myself just standing still admiring the scenery especially in the rain. There are no godrays and the image is very sharp. I also have an Odyssey + which has higher resolution but it doesn’t look nearly as good as my Rift S. You should give it a try on a better pc. Stormland is going to look amazing!
Daniel Romero I was thinking about buying a Rift S. Do you know what kind of graphics card is in your brother’s computer? I don’t have a top end computer either.
"The only advantage the Quest has is that it is wireless." The Rift S also requires $1200+ in PC hardware if you want a high-end experience. Get out of your elitism. Not everyone can afford that. For what the Quest offers at its price, it now increases the user-base, especially for us that aren't rich like you. And don't just say, "It's your fault you can't save up money." I have tuition, living expenses, and other priorities to think about.
My PC has a VR ready Rx 550 and a FX-6300 with 8 gigs of ram and i’m trying to decide between a Rift or a Quest. Which one should i get? (Plz help me out im stuck in between because i don’t know how the Rift S would perform with a budget PC)
Very strange. Most reviwers, even the best all say the RIFT S is far more clear, than the quest. And has less god rays, and screen door effect, and that the quest is uncomfortable. Yet, you say the opposite of everyone. I'm thinking at this point you are very special, and for you personally this is how it seems based on your sight, which is likely not average sight.
It saddens me that I might not be able to enjoy a good vr experience due to the space between my eyes as well as my oversized glasses. I measured my eyes and was just two mm over the max but my glasses would be too large. I know I can invest in special prescription lenses but I expect my scrip would be too pricey because I use no line bifocals.
Is the comfort of the rift s comparable with the lenovo explorer? I have a lenovo explorer and i don't like it its really uncomfortable and i can barely play for an hour. If that's the case with the rift s i am getting the quest
A lot of the comments I see are expected, but I feel that products like the Quest are going to do a lot more for VR popularity than the wired headsets. The price point is reasonable, and it's so easy to just take this round to a friends house and have a blast with a bunch of people while streaming the video to a TV so people to see the action. I carry it on me pretty much everywhere in case the opportunity shows itself to introduce new people to VR, and the reaction is always great. I was sat in a restaurant last week and ended up having the manager sat at our table trying it out, and now he really wants one! For VR to grow and evolve, it really needs more than the hardcore early adopters. My PC can handle the wired sets, but I opted for the Quest for reasons which include spreading the word and experience of VR that can only really be shared by people actually experiencing it. I want it to succeed.
@@eduardofromwiisportsresort9636 Oh ok. That kinda sucks. The pixels on the quest do stand out quite a bit when doing stuff like watching videos I guess that the rift S is the better option for those who mostly game in their rooms/ near their PC, prefer better image quality and who don't want to have to set up those light boxes everywhere than
I think you don't mind the cable as long as you haven't played wireless. Originally I planned on getting a Quest for the simple more active games and using my pc headset for the more quiet experiences. Since I have the Quest though I haven't touched my other headset anymore. The comfort of just put it on like a baseball cap and play 30 sec later is too tempting. That combined with way better clarity than expected I'm sold on the Quest.
I think just the portability makes the quest worth it, most of the games hold up and I can't stress this enough REALLY WELL like better than you think it would I played mostly psvr before my quest and graphically games are comparable sometime even sharper in quest which blows my mind (super hot is a good example ) and hand tracking is always better, and I can just take it to my mates place or to anyone who wants to check it out......I really think this going to push vr more into the mainstream
Is this better than the psvr glasses bacause IF it is im going to buy this and does it look good.. I have a gaming laptop but idk IF that laptop can run HTC vive or oculus Rift (it has GTX 1050ti)
Not sure how a 1050ti would do, the 1060 device I used ran into lots of issues that tainted my experience a bit. I definitely prefer the quest to the psvr and feel things feel better on the quest. It's a much better vr system overall!
To be fair, the games that have come out so far are full vr titles with lowered graphics. Ports on the Nintendo Switch are the same price as they would be on another platform.
@@Killswitch1411 I have never purchased these games. This headset is affordable to those who have no expensive PC. This is a dream come true and I can't be happier.

I can also download many games for free, so no need to pay a bunch of cash. And I get the full porn experience.
I think it has to do with does it look nice. I mean do you want a headset that looks warn out, scratchy and such? I think the impression of trying to make it look nice is key importance to trusting the makers. I mean for example, why did the Xbox One S sell well? Because the design had it small. The appearance actually connects with the wireless design. People love the Quest because its wireless. That's an appearance thing as well as a key feature thing. Its like food. Do you want your food made sloppy and look like some chief did it at the last second with no care or do you want a good presentation. I think that's what people are looking for. If you give half-ass appearance, people will think it looks sloppy. I don't think its something like "its not the color I like therefore I'm not buying it. But appearance is very key to consumers. I mean people's opinion that its uncomfortable to wear is an appearance issue. Its because they designed it so all the hardware is at the front. @Jorg Blackstone
Really tempted to get the quest and stream higher end titles (like fallout VR) rather than rift S because I'm getting sick of getting tangled by cords and having to unwind it.
I prefer more game options and I'm not really going to take VR around with me so I probably end up getting S. The Quest may be a good future option. Also my internet is not the best so Quest might be out of the choice for a while.
TrueNorth Productions I just heard the alvr is a wireless required software to make the wireless connect to the pc computer. It tricks to think it’s the oculus go and a pc powered vr headset. The thing that urks me is the 100 dollar addition than a oculus rift s. 100 dollars to make it cordless is a bit overpriced. Especially when you get extended cables for the wired one for like 10 bucks?
I don't agree that people with a gaming PC should still consider a Quest. Beat Saber's custom songs are a must IMO, and games like Projects Cars 2 or Skyrim VR are the games I've found to have the most longevity. And Steam Sales save you a tonne of money in the long run over the Oculus store.
@Frederick Röders I've tried to adjust the headstrap and put it on so that it grips the back of my head, low. No matter what I do, it's very uncomfortable, and I get headaches if using it for more than 10-20 minutes (or is it because of the low FPS?). I hope I'll get used to it.
@@duked19 I agree - I have an original Rift as well which is way more comfortable - somehow they didn't get the design right on Quest - I just can't get the rear head cradle to sit low enough to feel it is taking some weight off the Quest . It really is badly front heavy . I found that tightening the side straps extra tight so th e facial interface sort of mushrooms out on your face actually spreads the load a bit and makes it more comfortable - kind of opposite to intuition .
@@Fractalite Yes, it's such a shame. I wish they had used a design like the Pico G2 4K (ua-cam.com/video/R05HmvkLTag/v-deo.html). I will try to tighten the side straps extra hard, like you do, once again, though. My wife and I were on vacation to Cyprus last week - it was great to be able to play some VR (short periods of time) even though you were thousands of miles from home!
I really like that you dont need a computer. a few questions though. How much do you think they will expand the game library? Will there be games like pavlov and onward? Is there a way for like a hardrive or sd card expansion?
Those are the types of game I want on there too! I feel that Oculus/Facebook's vision is to eventually have everything as they seem 100% committed to this mobile VR. The hard thing is for developers as they have to really tweak and optimize the game to get it to run on this and future quests. I see it like a Nintendo Switch, when it came out... I wanted Rocket League on it but it took Panic Button a while before they were able to port it over to the Switch. I wouldn't doubt it if developers are working like crazy now so they can have their game working (or a version of it) on the Quest in times for the holidays. No way to expand the space in the quest, unfortunately :/
I definitely 100% would wait to see how things go! Right now there are good experiences but one could play through all those games very quickly unless you keep coming back to something like Rec Room or VrChat. Maybe we will get some announcements at e3? Who knows... I’d definitely wait for more games to come out or for a sale/bundle!
Got myself a Rift S. And the girlfriend a Quest 128GB. The Rift S is a huge improvement in terms of no sensor placement, no lens reflection. Unfortunately it uses LCD instead of Rift CV1 OLED so the colors are noticeably crappier. I will say, the need for no sensors does make it a winner in my book. Rift S is a worthy upgrade...Quest is for people who want a VR experience but don't crave playing hardcore PC games in VR...like Alien Isolation, Resident Evil 7 etc!
Is no one going to mention that a major reason people want a Quest because it's actually AFFORDABLE compared to PC VR? I mean, you can play games of nearly the same quality as the Rift S without the need to buy an even more expensive PC. I mean, people can want to play "hardcore" PC games, but not everyone has $1600+ just lying around...

While I accept everything you've said here, I would argue against your point at the end that the Oculus Quest is an upgrade to the original Oculus Rift. - The power and quality of the experiences on the Quest is noticably cut down. - I keep my Rift around for serious gaming and have my Quest available for when I want to go somewhere else and play and I'll accept the limitations when doing this. The Quest's black levels are just too beautiful. Even games I play on my Rift S, I just imagine how good would they look on the Quest. The Quest is completely Oculus engineered product. I think some form of light mini halo strap like the Rift S is the future though and the comfort on this headset is a downside.
@@jtm7336 Not yet!! Its on my list to play. Its just the black level and contrast of the Quest's OLED is soooo beautiful! I much prefer it to my CV1. I'd actually say in general colours Quest > RiftS > CV1. In terms of blacks Quest >>> CV1>Rift S
aoFeliX I have no problem with the black levels on the Rift S. LCD is the future of vr. John Carmack of Oculus said that if the Rift screen was available when they started developing the Quest it would of had the LCD screen also. The Valve index is also using LCD.
I wish they could combine the great blacks and colors of oled with the sharpness of the rift-s LCD. I had quest now trying rift-s. I hope I can be happy with it.
I own both and owned the the 1st gen Rift. Here is what you need to know to make a choice. If you want something you can put on and play quick games get the quest. Yes it is a bit front heavy and the foam on the mask is uncomfortable. I have ordered the VR Cover which I had for my 1st gen and it was great. You don't buy the quest for top end VR graphics, you get it for cable free play. The Rift S is far more comfortable to wear, even the face plate is better, mine doesn't get warm as he says. If you have a high end PC and you want to play Triple A titles on VR like Skyrim etc get the Rift S. Both are solid systems it all depends on what experience you want.
So Lenovo makes the ThinkPad, arguably the best pc made (no Macs in space,) so how exactly does Oculus not care about the manufacturing by teaming up with Lenovo?
That’s just how I personally feel about it! It feels like they are really focused on the Quest and mobile. I am not digging at Lenovo but just pointing out that Oculus partnered with them for the S. I feel that them doing that kept the S from being even better!
@@DanielRomero, not really dude, and it is just misinformed opinion. Oculus has commented on this and the device is what they planned, Lenovo simply manufactured it for them. They were not working to create rift 2.0 but to reduce the price of the unit and replace the current rift device. The S is not a successor to the Rift but more of a revision.
I totally get it! It’s still how I feel about it regardless of what Oculus said, they can say anything and (I feel) I am still allowed to have an opinion on the product. There are so many things at play when a company like that is owned by someone like Facebook that I (personally) take things like that with a grain of salt. Again, just me. I don’t feel that invalidates an opinion on something.
He lies a lot about certain things but the truth is: The rift s has guards that keep less light in The rift s has less fog than the quest The rift s is less front heavy than the quest and is more comfortable
No. That might be the case for you. Your thoughts on things aren’t universal. I am sharing my experience with the devices. Free to disagree but what you stated are not facts.
The biggest benefit of the quest is the freedom of being wireless, it’s like the AirPods of VR. I use it a lot more than my Rift CV1 because the freedom and roomscale tracking out of the box without setting up sensors, but that doesn’t apply to a game like elite dangerous. I think it’s worth it to have both if you have the money. The rift is good for more powerful games, but the convenience of the quest is awesome! It’s also good for watching movies and traveling like the go but with 6dof.
Being relatively technically inclined I want a super user mode on everything. Give me root. I'm in the minority. Real consumers, common, mom and pop consumers want a "walled garden". But, also, and, Oculus should and must do a great job working with developers to get software on their platform or VR will never reach the technological success we all hope for.
To be fair that would be a great game for VR. I want to go on a Mar's vacation and forget who I am only to be hunted by people I thought were my friends and neighbors.
1:11 only difference is not having steam and don't give me that Bluetooth screen sharing stuff cause it defeats the purpose of having a standalone lmao

@@johnsmith-tt8cx this answer is so bad I guess you are trolling. iPhone graphic? Which generation? Why not compare it to an almost 2 year old Android phone because there are devices using the same processor. And than keep in mind its rendering 2 high res displays with steady 72fps doing inside out and controller tracking. Okay now you actually have to see the images which it can produce in VR by yourself and think again how you can compare that to 2d smartphone games. Its a technical marvel able to produce some breathtaking graphics.
The rift s is more comfortable. Plus the quest has a higher res display but it doesn’t use all of it and most people say that the sub pixels and screen quality in the rift s is a decent bit better than the quest

The foam itself isn't removable on the Rift S but that whole front piece is!
It seems Virtual Desktop is now able to stream as well.

Daniel Romero please reply to me but all I want to know is the quest can connect to steam because the games on steam I have because I want to get VR and it being wireless is better but I do have a gaming PC so I'm stumped Which one I should go for cuz I want wireless but don't know if it can connect to steam or if I should go for the rift s cuz I know it can connect to steam but the wire would be a Hassel and I'd probably mess it up pls help

EVRST wait you can connect the quest to steam?!
You are the only one i have seen that thinks the quest is more comfortable
me too, everyone else in the internet says its alot worse
I got to try both of them the quest is better
I wish I can afford a nice gaming pc :((((
I saw something similar but elitism against even the Rift S.
I have the traveling case for the quest and I feel like it’s perfect for me 👍🏻
Very well said. I wish there was a "super like" button, because I'd be smashing it.
Can’t wait! Getting rift s in 5 days!

You know it's bad when the original Rift is still better than the Rift S in a lot of ways. The Quest feels like the real successor.
Jorg Blackstone honestly the only down side is the tracking, don’t get me wrong it’s great, but the position on the cameras they chose is very odd and leaves the controllers to not track sometimes.
For me it’s not too much of a problem
But the screen is wayyyy better than the rift and that alone makes me never able to go back
Jorg Blackstone but I was talking about the rift s.
Jorg Blackstone sorry if I confused you
and with ALVR and Virtual Desktop you can play SteamVR games on quest wirelessly (SideQuest and Profit!)
Just ordered the quest :D, great video! I'm really glad for the quest - I was going to have to get a better pc to run a wired headset.

"lots and lots of cool steamvr games you can't play on the quest" one word....ALVR(Air Light VR)
what ALVR IS:
alvr is an app which is available for gear vr and oculus go on the oculus store if yo uredeem the code and is in alpha for the oculus quest,it can be sideloaded on the quest and what it does is it lets you connect to your pc WIRELESSLY with low latency and perfect head tracking, alvr is currently in alpha 5 and might come out of alpha soon,it is very effective which makes htc vive, rift s and any other headset with external sensors and wires useless

It will be too little too late I think.
I cant understand how people already in pcvr want the quest. Graphics are downgraded bad. I guess they are the beatsaber crowd and wont notice anyways

Do you know if it’s possible to play steam vr games on oculus quest? Because I really like the idea of wireless vr and I have a powerful pc
Paradox Yes it will but games like Asgard‘s wrath it gets really laggy and I have a really fast Internet connection. I think I have a quest thinking about getting a rift s also
The Quest is not an upgrade from the original Rift. It does have it's pros but a PC headset will out preform and offer more vr experiences than the Quest can ever offer
a pc will outperform at every chance it will get but it's like a switch, yes you could have a 4k console but you can't take it everywhere else
But it will also make a hole at least 4x bigger in your wallet.

Pinnacle Rising I bet “Hellblade” in vr is fantastic. I’m hoping when the PS5 is released it will be able to handle “Hellblade” in vr.

Rec Room! My UA-cam profile pic is one of Rec
room’s avatar. It’s free to play. And don’t need VR to use it.
It saddens me that I might not be able to enjoy a good vr experience due to the space between my eyes as well as my oversized glasses. I measured my eyes and was just two mm over the max but my glasses would be too large. I know I can invest in special prescription lenses but I expect my scrip would be too pricey because I use no line bifocals.
if ur ipd is around 61.5-65.5mm u could go for rift s, hope ur glasses can fit
Glasses fit great in a rift headset
Is the comfort of the rift s comparable with the lenovo explorer? I have a lenovo explorer and i don't like it its really uncomfortable and i can barely play for an hour. If that's the case with the rift s i am getting the quest
I haven’t used the explorer but it looks nearly identical. I believe it’s based on that exact same design.
got my quest yesterday and im gonna return it.
it's just way too frontheavy for me. can't wear it for more than 10 minutes without discomfort.
For me, think I’ll be going for the rift-s as I don’t mine the cable and want something with great graphics not a back step to what I have
Quest has a higher res. With alvr and supersampling you'll be good
Holo it doesn’t use all of the resolution and is oled so no subpixels.
@@eduardofromwiisportsresort9636 Oh ok. That kinda sucks. The pixels on the quest do stand out quite a bit when doing stuff like watching videos
I guess that the rift S is the better option for those who mostly game in their rooms/ near their PC, prefer better image quality and who don't want to have to set up those light boxes everywhere than
I think you don't mind the cable as long as you haven't played wireless.
I would get a rift s but I can't use it because i don't have a displayport so i'm gonna get the quest

To tix tracking problems on the quest turn tracking down to 50hz it worked for me
I think just the portability makes the quest worth it, most of the games hold up and I can't stress this enough REALLY WELL like better than you think it would I played mostly psvr before my quest and graphically games are comparable sometime even sharper in quest which blows my mind (super hot is a good example ) and hand tracking is always better, and I can just take it to my mates place or to anyone who wants to check it out......I really think this going to push vr more into the mainstream
Does the quest over heats and then starts to lag?
I don't think so. I have heard on UA-cam that there are no problems when you play until you need to charge again. Like ~4 hours?
Is this better than the psvr glasses bacause IF it is im going to buy this and does it look good.. I have a gaming laptop but idk IF that laptop can run HTC vive or oculus Rift (it has GTX 1050ti)
Not sure how a 1050ti would do, the 1060 device I used ran into lots of issues that tainted my experience a bit. I definitely prefer the quest to the psvr and feel things feel better on the quest. It's a much better vr system overall!

What is not good for the Quest is the cost of the software.
To be fair, the games that have come out so far are full vr titles with lowered graphics. Ports on the Nintendo Switch are the same price as they would be on another platform.
@@SugarBunsHuns and lots of these games have been out for a long time and expect you to buy them again. yeah no thanks.
@@Killswitch1411 True, the quest isn't for everybody.
@@Killswitch1411 I have never purchased these games. This headset is affordable to those who have no expensive PC. This is a dream come true and I can't be happier.
@@TayoEXE Expensive pc? lol what is it with people and this nonsense.
I have a dual core i3 7100 and 8gb of ram with a 1060 3gb lol...
And I run games PERFECTLY fine. Skyrim VR, porn, anything.
What is it with this popular, oldschool notion you need some rocket machine.
that's for the high resolution headsets. these ones, the quest, the go, the RIFT S will run amazingly.
You can literally find youtube vids of my exact specs from many playing games the quest could only dream of, on a basic, cheap gaming pc.
I can also download many games for free, so no need to pay a bunch of cash. And I get the full porn experience.
Is it just me, or does the rift s design look kind of ugly?
Its better than how the Oculus originally looked. That looked like something just slabbed a cardboard, painted it black and called it good. IMO.
It's not just you :)
@Jorg Blackstone it isn't important, I would totally buy a rift s if I had a pc. It just doesn't seem very oculussy
What is total recall?
lmao.... I meant Robo Recall! Total Recall is definitely a movie and I was definitely talking about the game xD
@@DanielRomero oh xD
Really tempted to get the quest and stream higher end titles (like fallout VR) rather than rift S because I'm getting sick of getting tangled by cords and having to unwind it.
I have a psvr and i wanna get one of these i have a powerfull gaming pc (1080 ti 16gb ram i7) but im not shure if i wanna get the quest or rift s
You have the PC for it so I would say get the S.
I prefer more game options and I'm not really going to take VR around with me so I probably end up getting S. The Quest may be a good future option. Also my internet is not the best so Quest might be out of the choice for a while.
Buy the Quest use ALVR for steamVR and enjoy not having a cable
You-Top1 doesn’t ALVR use WiFi? Don’t I need good WiFi? I don’t have the best WiFi
You-Top1 also I would buy tons of vr games so ideally paying 100-200 dollars more for 64 gb storage seems like a let down
What you need super fast wifi to play quest? Is that just for multiplayer games? I have horrible internet too
TrueNorth Productions I just heard the alvr is a wireless required software to make the wireless connect to the pc computer.
Quest is good, but very front heavy. (I usually use a wireless HTC Vive + Deluxe Audio Headstrap)
@@duked19 Bro you can use your deluxe audio strap on the Quest to. It's way more comfy
@@MioMate Yes, I'll have to try that. Have to get one more DAS, though.
The Quest is good for now but, for how long well it be supported. It is locks to a set system spec and over time VR well push game graphics more.

I have the go and I will buy the quest
Quest has been hours of fun for our family. Great purchase. I play it more than the kids, for sure.
@@DanielRomero ah the no way to expand kinda sucks. So would you suggest maybe waiting a little while before purchasing to see how it works out?
I definitely 100% would wait to see how things go! Right now there are good experiences but one could play through all those games very quickly unless you keep coming back to something like Rec Room or VrChat. Maybe we will get some announcements at e3? Who knows... I’d definitely wait for more games to come out or for a sale/bundle!
@@DanielRomero alright thank you for the information and the good video
Pavlov is being ported and can be sideloaded right now !!!
But can you play with steam friends?
You can play steam vr games with the Quest
Jorg Blackstone since day one ? One word alvr
Jorg Blackstone for the price maybe but the vive pro, index and the pimax headsets are much better but yeah they cost 800-1000 euro/dollar
@@TayoEXE it doesnt even cost that much for a gaming pc now probably like 500 dollars for a prebuilt with a 1060 i got one last week hp omen gaming vr ready desktop 1060 gtx for 200 dollars its not hard at all theres always a sell somewhere yall just dont look forreal
Let’s be real. Quest is more for the casual vr players and rift is more for the hardcore vr gamers
Got the quest and i love it
Does the oculus quest have the same ipd problem of the rift s?
Alberto Ludovico Novello nope
While I accept everything you've said here, I would argue against your point at the end that the Oculus Quest is an upgrade to the original Oculus Rift. - The power and quality of the experiences on the Quest is noticably cut down. - I keep my Rift around for serious gaming and have my Quest available for when I want to go somewhere else and play and I'll accept the limitations when doing this.
Shame the RIft S seems to be lesser than the Rift and Quest though :(
oculus current sells a rift s facial interface on its website, so the one on there must be removable...
Yup! Someone else pointed out that the whole piece is removable (not the foam), it definitely didn’t seem removable when I was checking it!
Have you heard about Riftcraft and ALVR?
This right here. I've been playing Steam VR on the quest out in my living room cord free. Amazing times.
@@llamathefuzz I've heard about it, I've also heard about compatibility issues, and latency, along with worser visuals.
And disconnection issues. And requiring a 5ghz wifi.
I've heard about it. I've also heard about the 80 dollar chord you can buy now for the quest to connect it to the BETA program on pc. Which crashes, has issues, and many games won't recognize it.
I've heard about it.
@@crazytech5755 There's hearing about it, and playing it. Nothing is perfect. It's a great fun system, with a lot of flexibility... People have gotten the system to link with inexpensive cables already. No one makes ya buy it. But, for many of us, it is a lot of fun. To take VR games anywhere literally is a real treat. In these cool fresh fall evenings, I have been playing Beat Saber and Pistol Whip in the yard with a huge open scale area to move around completely untethered. It's awesome...
@@llamathefuzz i bought the quest actually, I love it. But the software you're talking about isn't great.

@@crazytech5755 Yes, I stopped using ALVR not long after I posted about this. I made that other reply months ago. I am super excited about link tho.
It seems like a big drawback to only be able to track your controllers in front of you aswell. If i end up getting a Rift S i will also buy the extra trackers so i can track my controllers when holding it behind me
Quest is better no wires and I never notice tracking loss
Having decent games with a wire is better.

The Quest's black levels are just too beautiful. Even games I play on my Rift S, I just imagine how good would they look on the Quest.
The Quest is completely Oculus engineered product. I think some form of light mini halo strap like the Rift S is the future though and the comfort on this headset is a downside.
aoFeliX I love how you think the games would look better on the Quest. Have you played Hellblade on the Rift S?
@@jtm7336 Not yet!! Its on my list to play. Its just the black level and contrast of the Quest's OLED is soooo beautiful! I much prefer it to my CV1. I'd actually say in general colours Quest > RiftS > CV1. In terms of blacks Quest >>> CV1>Rift S
aoFeliX I have no problem with the black levels on the Rift S. LCD is the future of vr. John Carmack of Oculus said that if the Rift screen was available when they started developing the Quest it would of had the LCD screen also. The Valve index is also using LCD.
Get ALVR and try those games on your Quest.
I wish they could combine the great blacks and colors of oled with the sharpness of the rift-s LCD. I had quest now trying rift-s. I hope I can be happy with it.
Total recall?
Just a mistake! I meant "Robo Recall" xD
@@DanielRomero oh sorry I was just confused loved the review tho
The "Halo" style headband on the Rift S is NOT developed by Lenovo, it was designed by PSVR and Lenovo was SUED by Sony and they settled.....
I use the quest as a laptop and the rift as a pc.
You did a pretty good job in this video.👍🏽 I should be getting my oculus quest next week when my paycheck come in! See you guys in VR!
Can I have one? :)
Nice video btw, you do good reviews :D
🤣 Thanks link!
You were right... You were right
So Lenovo makes the ThinkPad, arguably the best pc made (no Macs in space,) so how exactly does Oculus not care about the manufacturing by teaming up with Lenovo?
I actually picked up both, tons of fun!
Buying a quest is like buying a Soldier Boy console. Lol
framerate > resolution > graphics
He lies a lot about certain things but the truth is:
The rift s has guards that keep less light in
The rift s has less fog than the quest
The rift s is less front heavy than the quest and is more comfortable
No. That might be the case for you. Your thoughts on things aren’t universal. I am sharing my experience with the devices. Free to disagree but what you stated are not facts.
The quest has no games and the quest link comes at a price of lower graphics
72hz refresh rate will unfortunately bother me. In my honest opinion, 90z is minimum and 120hz or better should be recommended.
I personally actually don’t notice the refresh rate so.... it’s your choice.
@@horsejoergen4931 That is good to know. :)
Yeah it’s a lot smoother then I expected so don’t let the refresh rate stop you from getting it if you want too.
I get motion sick very easily so on paper the refresh rate worried me. Now that I've tried it I can say you don't see or feel any difference at all.
The main game i play in vr is elite dangerous and you cant play that on quest
I wish I had one
“Total recall”

To be fair that would be a great game for VR. I want to go on a Mar's vacation and forget who I am only to be hunted by people I thought were my friends and neighbors.
I'm not sure i can put up with the crap graphics on the Oculus Quest.
dtz1000 bruh they’re not crap it’s just that the video recording software downgrades the footage.
@Raymonde...When i wrote my comment the graphics were crap compared to PCVR, but with the release of the Oculus Link everything has changed now.
Just saying my name is Daniel too

1. vr headset with amazing games and great resolution and doesn't need a expensive PC
2.a vr headset with a cord you cant take off to be free also requires an expensive pc
more like 1. a vr headset with graphics likely no better than an iphone.
I have both using ALVR on the quest, couldnt be happier
@@johnsmith-tt8cx this answer is so bad I guess you are trolling. iPhone graphic? Which generation? Why not compare it to an almost 2 year old Android phone because there are devices using the same processor. And than keep in mind its rendering 2 high res displays with steady 72fps doing inside out and controller tracking. Okay now you actually have to see the images which it can produce in VR by yourself and think again how you can compare that to 2d smartphone games. Its a technical marvel able to produce some breathtaking graphics.
3. A vr headset that requires no cord but still uses an expensive pc because we can.
The rift s is more comfortable. Plus the quest has a higher res display but it doesn’t use all of it and most people say that the sub pixels and screen quality in the rift s is a decent bit better than the quest
