    Best explanation of the "technical details" of the various parts of a complete golfswing I have ever come across. Rather good from Chris Ryan and improved my game incredibly. Been getting better at golf and studying it for 28 years and did not think there was much more to explain. I used to watch "Golf My Way" on VHS and Greg Norman "The complete golfer" and countless books on golf but nothing as good as your instruction mate.......Wish my back was not so bad.......cant wait to get out there.....the joys of being 45 years old!....sigh.......I thought i was immune to old age

    Hi Chris, after playing golf for 50 years, as a high teen handicapper, I recently learnt that I am guilty of coming "over the top". My club pro has kept telling me but I'm not sure I got much help that I was able to make stick. So I started to look to UA-cam and luckily I found you on advice of a fellow golfer. I have been watching your videos for a few months now and I have now finally worked it out and this video has just nailed it for me, along with a number of other downswing videos. I have been keeping those elbows the same distance in the downswing for a couple of rounds now and am amazed at the difference it makes. I am striking the ball so much better, straighter and a little longer even. Thanks so much and you have a devoted follower here in Adelaide, Australia.

    Keep doing these type of lesson videos. You hit the topics that a lot of other guys I've noticed don't. And you go into great detail which is always helpful. You truly have some of the better golf lesson videos out there! Keep at it.

    Great video! Just found your channel (late to the game) but this video is excellent in helping my early release. This “feel” helps everything from my hand position at the top of my swing and my transition which both contributed to an early release at impact. Simple explanation and regressing this has fixed a chain of issues that I have been fighting. Well done and thanks again.

    Really like your videos... you bring a different insight to the golf swing that really helps with a deeper understanding... I would like to know what role these play with the more mainstream concepts.. like bow and cup wrist at the top of the backswing

    OMG! This was a great demonstration. This is the 'key' to addressing my back swing & down swing - FINALLY! I do believe with this video, I have FINALLY addressed the most significant fault in my entire golf swing. Fantastic!

    thanks chris, have been working hard, all winter on improving my game. and have relied heavily on several of your videos. i play off 21. mainly because i cannot get off the tee, without getting blocked out etc. but with the help of yourself, Amy chow, ie throwing the driver and using your abs. Dan whitacker. ( sorry Dan not sure of spelling.) for the last month or so i have played to about 12, with 10 being my lowest. so armed with my new swing changes. i am really looking forward to the new season. and have a few weeks of glory before they catch up with me haha. thanks again love watching and learning from you.

    Good video. There is a golf drill that has been used for over 50 years of taking a strap or belt, putting around both arms and the torso, around chest/bicep level, and hitting golf balls like this, to make sure your arms stay connected. Your swing is beautiful.

    I just saw this 3 years after you recoded the video. this is what I needed for sure. I had problem keeping the elbows the same distance from take away to impact . I am sure it was a flying elbow.. I think it might be all the problems I have had for years. thanks 3 year late.

    This is a must and its insane this isn't talked about enough...get your alignment, address and ball position correct, grip then keep your elbows together and turn your chest...good set up and turning with your elbows close the whole time will more or less provide a proper golf, on plane golf swing...obviously it's easier said than done and controlling the clubface imo is the hardest part of the swing, but tight elbows solves so so so many issues

    More or less what Jimmy Ballard says. In his connected swing he says to always maintain the triangle throughout the swing, except for the finish.

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  8 років тому

      +Cordell Walker HI Cordell, yes the lead shoulder should be moving up and around through impact, if you are slicing the ball this could be a face or path issue, so working on those should help this

    I have a question Chris. What if a golf is physically incapable of keeping the elbows together, especially a the top of the backswing, and the elbows move apart as in the 'flying right elbow'?

  • @nicoclause

    good vid ryan but what causes the elbows to separate

    • @davidlin1345
      @davidlin1345 8 років тому

      Basically, this is due to elbows are "disconnected" from the body; especially those hitting ball with their arms.

    Chris, brilliant videos mate and I am picking up a lot of great tips. However, you are doing my head in when you (probably unknowingly) swallow your spit and make that 'tut' sounding noise not so much on this vid but a lot more on most of your other ones. No disrespect meant but it drives me crazy.
