This is especially apparent in the chorus sections (0:46, 2:05, 2:55), where the right guitar is playing a rhythmically more complex part while the left is playing along with the chord progression. [This then goes into the second part of the chorus, where both guitars are playing in frequent short bursts while a high-pitched synth is playing. Rime didn't "become" popular, I'm pretty sure by the description that these are all commissioned demos.
