    Another round of Illnesses in the family. Bladder cancer, stage 4, and diabetes. If I say a word about this way of eating, I get shut down... fast. I do notice, though, that they have improved their diet. I think It's rubbing off. Lol. I always remember what you say about encouraging the people who want it, not those who argue against it. Thanks for the much loved talk. RIP Dr. McDougall. You changed my life in the early 80s, when you wrote "The McDougall Plan." Reading that book saved me from myself. All the best to Mary, and family.

    Thank you so much Dillon and everyone in the WFPB community, not just doctors, dieticians, weight loss coaches, but also those who post and comment, as there is nobody I know who eats WFPB oil & sugar-free like I do, and I live in London (all vegan groups want to do is to get together and eat out, so not for me). I lost all my excess weight gradually starting from 2020, I've now been my happy weight for 4 years, only fell off track once three years ago when I bought some Vegan Nutella, but luckily the memories of shame-filled binge-eating immediately put me back on track. What I would like to say to those at the start or in the middle of their WFPB health journey is that this really works, and it's not just losing weight, it's overcoming binge-eating, chaotic eating, bad habits, decades of massive weight fluctuations, that's the big achievement, and you can succeed.
    I binged/dieted from age 12, I am now 58 and I know I can trust myself not to go back to ultra-processed addictive food that controlled my life. Being slim and healthy has given me such strength, life is very stressful for me, but knowing that this is what I have achieved thanks to videos like this and the helpful community is a source of confidence, content, gratefulness and hope for the future, so thank you all. And by the way, I look good in clothes now, and love my body even though it's wrinkly and there is excess skin from the weight loss, but I am grateful for every bit and am kind to it for the first time in my life.

    I went vegan a few years ago due to health reasons. Only in the past couple of weeks have I started following the Starch Solution. The loss of Dr. McDougall is tragic, as I find him inspiring. I've watched your show for a while now, but only recently really understood what you were promoting. I'm already losing weight and my blood sugar levels are coming down (I am T2 diabetic). I'd like to thank you for what you do, and the message you bring.

      @@WellYourWorld I just want to add my 2 cents. First of all, thank you for all you do! It was the worsening of my physical symptoms that motivated me to revisit your channel. Eating Dr. McDougall's food helped my sister. So, I started binge watching all the channels that support a starch based way of eating. I'm not vegan and this will be a process for me. My husband saw I was watching these channels, has seen me suffering, and said he supports me in not eating meat, dairy, etc. I already feel better!

    I am kind of between 1 & 2; new to this & having trouble sticking to it, but I know what to do & how to do it. So, the way I see, I’m still experimenting, finding my way. I’m trying 1-2 new recipes per week so build a repertoire of meals that I know I can whip up and love and not have to fret about what comes next once this delicious meal is gobbled up. Thank you WYW Team for teaching me so many new recipes in my new way of getting healthy! ❤️

    I have been pushing against the status quo my whole adult life. I do not have my friends derailing me, but my spouse still demands meat and potatoes. Even that is easy to say no to. But, I do need a community of like minded people. I am always seeking easy to make meals that are limited items, quick prep and batch cooking. My sweet tooth is my biggest hurdle. Working full time, and going to school makes it more difficult. You are absolutely right on all your points.

    KISS - Keep It Simple & Sustainable. I like your videos because you're so right about doctors who say we should eat 30 types of veggies every week, the daily dozen, or we absolutely have to eat something: nuts and seeds, wholegrains and beans, etc. - I rarely do, I'd rather eat potatoes, sweet potatoes, lentils, chestnuts and not even every day + lots of fruit and veggies, mushrooms, kabocha squashes, huge soups and salads, etc. - it works for me as a very petite 58 y.o. woman, I can't eat as much as a young man who does a lot of sports (I only do gentle walking and sometimes exercises). I like my dishes to be simple and there are always ingredients/meals in my fridge/freezer/pantry that I have prepared in advance and are ready to eat. I know buy frozen crushed garlic and riced cauliflower to save time. I never ever bring junk into the house. I no longer see it as food and my friends know this, so it's no longer up for any debate, however friendly. Same with my doctor, I am firm and confident about what I eat and others can see the result for themselves.
    For breakfast I eat lots and lots of fruit, 2 big bowls. During my weight loss phase when i was bigger I also ate wholegrain sourdough toast (1 slice) with two flat tbs of avocado, baked beans or 2 flat teaspoons of oil-free peanut butter.
    I have my starches for lunch with a huge salad which also includes grated carrots, beetroot (starchy veg), lots of tomatoes, peppers, etc. Sometimes I also have a big bowl of mushroom stew : love Enoki mushrooms in a tomato sauce, they taste and feel like spaghetti)
    For dinner, I eat a huge bowl of veggie soup, I throw everything in the pot: zucchini or other veggie, chopped tomatoes, onions, garlic, basil or other herb and I eat a huge bowl, dinner is the smallest meal of the day for me.
    My tummy is always full and satisfied. I never snack, if I'm hungry I just have the next meal earlier. I am never even tempted to eat out or buy junk food. I don't even step into a "health" shop or the junk aisles of supermarket, I actually feel sad for those who are still misinformed and hooked on that junk. I have dropped one friend who mocked me for being slim and tried to derail me. She only did that once, she is still obese and now diabetic, I have stopped all contact as I don't need these people in my life. Her doctor is WFPB and tried to give her good advice too, she doesn't want to listen so I can't help her either.
    Chef AJ's calorie density chart is very helpful and easy to follow, as is Dr McDougall's 50-50 plate, or Mary McDougall's mini mary "reset."
    BONUS TIP: My favourite recipe is microwave frozen cauliflower with Sacla vegan aubergine (eggplant) pesto. The cauliflower really tastes like pasta to the extent that I'm not even tempted to eat pasta anymore. It's a cruciferous veggie and ridiculously low in calories. I buy the pesto but sieve it to get all the olive oil out, the pesto is one of just 3 processed foods I buy as a treat from time to time (the other two are low-fat hummus and falafel, everything else I make from scratch).

    • @WellYourWorld
      @WellYourWorld  7 днів тому +4

      Just combine a little water with date powder until it is a similar consistency as your date paste, then use that. And for next time after that, you will know how much date powder and water you used, so now you can just throw those into the recipe, no need to combine them into paste first.
