  • Today we talk about applying gilding wax to detailed areas of woodturned bowls. I show two different applications, one over a base dye and another over a painted acrylic base coat.
I used the Baroque Art brand gilding wax in Gold and Iris Blue.

I'm here because I'm learning how to use gilding wax and want/NEED more info. You said it's hard to remove it. Yep. I found that out! In my desperation to remove the gold BLOB I had created...of course, the last thing I did worked 😆
Paint clean up. I'm Aussie, so don't/can't give chemical information or where to buy, if not an Aussie.
However, I applied the clean up to a cloth, and was easily able remove the excess to my liking.
I love your technique teaching. Will be practising this after Christmas this week! Cheers and have a lovely holiday season

Jeff: Great video and I thoroughly enjoyed you presentation! I've thought about using Gilding Wax before and have recently purchased. I've been very hesitant to try it until I viewed your video and now think I'll give it a try. Thanks for the excellent video! Safe turning to you always!

Interesting video with a lot of useful information.
Can you apply the gilding wax over sanding /acrylic sealer or a wax, such as Hampshire Sheen?
    thanks
    James

Very useful video Jeff, thanks for sharing. Out of interest, what is the flag / pennant / ensign behind you with Lancashire Rose and Royal Crest? Is it Kings Regiment of Lancashire? If so what is your connection?
    Cheers
    Tom

Good morning, Tom. Thanks for watching. Actually it's the flag of Hampshire and I hung it in the shop because I'm the US manufacturer of Hampshire Sheen. Had a joke with Martin because there was no clause in the contact about signage. He sent me the flag as a funny response so I printed and hung it for all to see!

Oh, ok! I thought it was the red rose of Lancashire. Shows how much Brits know about their country!
