Yes totally MicroProse! I have a lot of good memories playing their games, i even plan to submit a carrier battle game to them for publishing. Also, I'm so old school i'm literally working on a PC game right now called Old Skool Wargame.😄
I had no idea about the upcoming Scourge of War remaster. That's really fantastic news. The fact that you can't even buy the original Scourge of War on Steam, or even on Norb's own website, makes this one sorely needed (though thankfully you can still get Take Command on Steam).

Modern Naval combat just doesn't translate to a fun game. You're just lobbing anti shipping missles from beyond visual range and there's not much strategy to it when compared to ww2 naval battles using cannons
In the mean time, “Cold Waters” is a very fun and good new submarine sim which has a couple different overhaul mods to make it about surface combat instead.
They have some really great games but I'm defo keen on their next "wave" of projects. Microprose also have some excellent titles. Just need them to come out in 2024 ;)

The games on this list are really awesome and I'm very excited for the Naval ones here. Also Kingdom, Dungeon and Hero looks very niche but could be awesome! Will check it out.
Microprose has some potential blockbusters coming up, but they really need to deliver. Their projects have been public for quite some time now, and if they pan out they will, yet again, have some timeless classics on their hands.

I completely missed the predecessor to Silent Depth 2: Pacific, but it looks very promising. Modern naval warfare could be the successor to Sub Command. Scourge of War: Remastered also looks appealing. If Sea Power: Naval Combat in the Missile Age allows submarine gameplay, I'm definitely interested. Broken Arrow has a fantastic sound design and interesting mechanics.
That would be very welcome. Note those were based on the boardgames of the same name, and since then we've had Whistling Death and Wings of the Motherland, covering the Pacific and Eastern Front respectively. But if this is based on those original games, the designer has kept remarkably quiet about it.
IL-2 Sturmovik: Fortresses and Focke-Wulfs -- Dieppe (a DLC for IL-2 Cliffs of Dover Blitz) is coming out in late 2024. There will be a flyable B-17E, car door Hawker Typhoon, P-51A, Bf-110F, Beaufighter Mk. VI and Fw-190A to name a few.
With big names like Slitherine and Microprose back into the full time swing of making wargames, it just reminds me how hard it is to make them right. Because, basically, you are trying to simulate something that cannot happen. In real life, it CANNOT HAPPEN that ONE PERSON is in charge of all these units, in real time, across such large battles. It just doesn't work that way. But when you are trying to make a game, you seemingly have to try to make that work. I personally think that what will move this genre forward more than anything, would be a title that focuses on COOP Role Based teamwork. A game that advertises and demonstrates the value of having roles that focus on specific types of units and tactics, like: 1. One player manages the Army. 2. Another player manages the Navy. 3. Another player manages the Air Force 4. Maybe another focuses specifically on Recon forces or Intel in general. In this way, players can learn and specialize in certain types of battle tactics, and certain units, in a SINGLE slice of the effort. This allows players to get very proficient without being overwhelmed by the complexity of all the different tactics, and engagement ranges, and capabilities of their own units and the expected enemy units. Without that, it's really hard to have a game that is both realistic enough to be engaging, and still manageable by one player. There is just so much you have to keep front of mind, and in real life, noone is ever asked to do that; it is instead spread across a command structure where each group simply manages their own scope and expects others to manage theirs.

Tank Squad looks like a Cross between War Thunder and Squad, but it's still looks cool and is kinda like a World War Two counterpart to Gunner HEAT. Silent Depths 2: Pacific really gives off the Silent Hunter Feels, my main thing is that I hope you get all the Submarines from the Nation's that will be Covered in the Game. It looks like the Devs have done that but it might just be clips from their Trailer for the Game. Men of War II is Definitely worth the Hype, we've waited quite a while for it to come out and it looks so cool!Can't wait to see how things turn out. Armoured Brigade II looks like a Cross between Wargame: Red Dragon and Men of War: Assault Squad II, That's going to be one for the Books to check out. Modern Naval Warfare looks pretty Interesting, especially since they have the More Modern Virginia-class Nuclear Powered Submarines from the United States Navy, which would imply that the Four Submarines of the Vanguard-class from the Royal Navy are among the Ships and Submarines in the Game as well. Most of these Submarines aren't even 30 years old, so any Detailed Information about their Design will still be Classified for the Next 20 years or so. Seeing how the Devs managed to Model what little Information that is available in the Game will be interesting to see. Sea Power: Naval Warfare in the Missile Age, Task Force Admiral and Broken Arrow are all still up for the Hype. I myself am Following the Development of TFA on their Facebook page and they've done a Phenomenal Job with their Renders, the Sounds and even the Soundtrack. 1942 covers the Battle of The Coral Sea in May, The Battle of Midway in June and the Majority of the Guadalcanal Campaign starting in August along with The Battle of the Eastern Solomons in the same Month and The Battle of Santa Cruz in October. I'm hoping that we get to see some more from the Game in Future as there's a lot of History and Equipment to cover especially for the Pacific War. First mod I do for silent depth would be to get that water off the imaginary camera. They’ll probably have an off button for it in settings I hope tho.
Like 6 months ago I saw a video of a upcoming Battlefield like game, that also had mechs and stuff. Like a mix between Titanfall, battlefield 2142 and Planetside or something. You played as a foot soldier but could also jump into vehicles and mechs. This is all I remember about it sadly, I dont remember the name or any more gameplay details
One thing that comes to mind is the fact that 2 of the games, Task Force 42 and Sea Power: Naval Combat in the Missile Age. I've been waiting for the first one so long I dumped it off my wish list. I still have Sea Power which has said Comming Soon since I joined, May 11, 2020. So from your mouth to the gaming God's ear about the 2024 release, because I coming up on 4 years of Coming Soon. Would be kinda cool if there was strategy game that had logistics and fortification building from Foxhole, economics of Vic2 and unit building from HOI4 and had single player too. But I would be satisfied if there was game similar to foxhole without being mp only.
As someone who currently serves in the US Submarine service the Naval games get me excited. Really not looking forward to the Gi don’t knows who are going to argue about realism though.
I was so disappointed by the MoW2 Demo. I hope they rethink many aspects of the game and make it more like Gates of Hell. Broken Arrow surprised me tho. I think the deck building is way better than in WarNo and building heights actually matter. I'm very excited for this game 😊
My only (and several others judging from in-game chat) complained that we need 30 minutes max in Broken Arrow. It would stop the "spend it all on tanks and push" strategy, among other things. 45 minutes is just too much 😅
I don't disagree with any of these but I was surprised you didn't mention Ultimate General: American Revolution. There is also the Flashpoint Campaigns Central Storm - although technically that could be considered a DLC
Is there anything that focuses on squad level combat? I haven't gamed seriously in many years but have great memories of Ghost Recon and especially Operation Flashpoint from 20 odd years ago. What about Total War - do they have anything coming out this year?
I don’t know what you like exactly but I highly recommend the Field of Glory series (Ancients and Medieval). Best turn-based wargames to come on PC in a long time.
I played the open beta of Broken Arrow and it was a very solid game, but i really hope they'll implement auto recording and replay like warno so we can enjoy the graphism and analyse what's going on because this game is both a lot of macro and micro and you have 0 time to enjoy the details this game offer, which is a shame coz it's quite gorgeous for the genre.
The devs of both games are active on the Microprose discord and are constantly giving out updates. Progress is happening, they just have small dev teams (iirc TFA only has one actual programmer) so it’s slow.
Scourge of War *could* be good. A lot to fix. Mainly related to unit control and poor sprites. I don’t know why Take Control just played better. With no Napoleon TW 2 there is a market there to grab. Wishing the team the best.
The Demo for Broken Arrow was rather bad though. The performance was poor, despite my rather good hardware, especially due to the visual bugs due to the AMD drivers not working well with the game. I hope they fix it because it was rather fun to play, although you feel a bit disconnected from the units in comparison to WARNO and World in Conflict, the two games where it neatly sits in between. Thanks for the video though, I am currently downloading the Demos to Headquaters: WWII and Tank Squad, two games that I was not aware of.
to me BA demo was good, i had fun until meta came xD, i have an AMD and it was running super great (not excluding your problem), and yes there were bugs in visual problems in my demo too unfortunatly. One thing that i felt is that in BA i felt like i had more control over the units, warno with the 3h that i played didnt like it because units felt like they would get killed so easly and they would be replaced very easly so you wouldnt be in control. Anyway, lets see how the singleplayer will be and the editor, thats what im looking foward to
they need to bring back the classic "red baron 3d' game revamped with modern graphics and gameplay...yes warthunder and DCS is great but the campaign mode of red baron was way ahead of its time
I wonder about Tank Squad Vs War Thunder sim mode, as the WT has great community, which, due lots of frustration aroud the game may jump at this game, pushing War Thunder devs to listen to community. Side rift - for those who would like experience nice tank game on phone - Tank Company (also on Pc) is great game taking best out of WT and Wot.
Task Force Admiral is a continuation of a previous series that started in the early 1990s -Task Force 1942: Surface Naval Action in the South Pacific which was followed by 1942: The Pacific Air War Huh.... I remembered that both titles had Task Force in the name.... But I guess I was wrong.... Mandela effect ftw.

M1 Tank Platoon was the first real PC war game I enjoyed, played the heck out of it and then AH-64, great classic games

Microprose have already published some bangers: High Fleet, Ground Branch, Carrier Command 2, Tiny Combat Arena....etc

WARNO's divisions have a ton of character, though.
My only (and several others judging from in-game chat) complained that we need 30 minutes max in Broken Arrow. It would stop the "spend it all on tanks and push" strategy, among other things. 45 minutes is just too much 😅
I never base a game's enjoyment based on graphics for a cut scene or demo. But I've been a fan of Microsoft since the days of C64.
Task Force Admiral is the one I'm waiting impatiently for.

Was the Scourge of War footage from the original game. It literally looks the same with no Graphics improvement which was always a problem for me.
I don't disagree with any of these but I was surprised you didn't mention Ultimate General: American Revolution. There is also the Flashpoint Campaigns Central Storm - although technically that could be considered a DLC

Is there anything that focuses on squad level combat? I haven't gamed seriously in many years but have great memories of Ghost Recon and especially Operation Flashpoint from 20 odd years ago. What about Total War - do they have anything coming out this year?
I don’t know what you like exactly but I highly recommend the Field of Glory series (Ancients and Medieval). Best turn-based wargames to come on PC in a long time.

I played the open beta of Broken Arrow and it was a very solid game, but i really hope they'll implement auto recording and replay like warno so we can enjoy the graphism and analyse what's going on because this game is both a lot of macro and micro and you have 0 time to enjoy the details this game offer, which is a shame coz it's quite gorgeous for the genre.

I have awaited 'Sea Power' and TFA from Micropose for over 2 years and sadly am becoming sceptical of their actual release - I hope I'm wrong.
Just remember how long game development takes! But I also sympathize with the frustration :)
The devs of both games are active on the Microprose discord and are constantly giving out updates. Progress is happening, they just have small dev teams (iirc TFA only has one actual programmer) so it’s slow.

Scourge of War *could* be good. A lot to fix. Mainly related to unit control and poor sprites. I don’t know why Take Control just played better. With no Napoleon TW 2 there is a market there to grab. Wishing the team the best.
Demo of HQ:WWII on Steam
The Demo for Broken Arrow was rather bad though. The performance was poor, despite my rather good hardware, especially due to the visual bugs due to the AMD drivers not working well with the game. I hope they fix it because it was rather fun to play, although you feel a bit disconnected from the units in comparison to WARNO and World in Conflict, the two games where it neatly sits in between.
Thanks for the video though, I am currently downloading the Demos to Headquaters: WWII and Tank Squad, two games that I was not aware of.
I played the Beta and the performance was a lot better! I wont deny it was bad in the demo.
to me BA demo was good, i had fun until meta came xD, i have an AMD and it was running super great (not excluding your problem), and yes there were bugs in visual problems in my demo too unfortunatly. One thing that i felt is that in BA i felt like i had more control over the units, warno with the 3h that i played didnt like it because units felt like they would get killed so easly and they would be replaced very easly so you wouldnt be in control. Anyway, lets see how the singleplayer will be and the editor, thats what im looking foward to

I wonder about Tank Squad Vs War Thunder sim mode, as the WT has great community, which, due lots of frustration aroud the game may jump at this game, pushing War Thunder devs to listen to community. Side rift - for those who would like experience nice tank game on phone - Tank Company (also on Pc) is great game taking best out of WT and Wot.

Task Force Admiral is a continuation of a previous series that started in the early 1990s -Task Force 1942: Surface Naval Action in the South Pacific which was followed by 1942: The Pacific Air War Huh.... I remembered that both titles had Task Force in the name.... But I guess I was wrong.... Mandela effect ftw.
Hopefully the finished games look better because most of these don't look like 2024 graphics. They look like 2004 / 2014 graphics.
