    Thanks for explaining this new bowling ball and how it works and how layouts effect the various differentials. 😊

      Is the nose located on the CG marker or the mass bias marker?

    • @Naregnemyes
      @Naregnemyes 11 днів тому +1

      I ask because he says the nose is located on the CG several times in the video, but if you check the drilling instructions, the max flip layout actually puts the thumbhole on the Mass Bias, not on the CG marker...

    • @BowlingBuckosh
      @BowlingBuckosh 11 днів тому

      @@Naregnemyes @Naregnemyes not ON the CG, on the line from the pin THROUGH the CG to about 5.5 - 6". there is no MB locator on the sym core. the pin-CG line should intersect the thumb, the 1st angle will be different for every PAP.

    • @Naregnemyes
      @Naregnemyes 11 днів тому +1

      @@BowlingBuckosh I see. So the nose on this particular core would be somewhere between where the CG and MB markers would be? I know there's no actual MB marker on a symmetrical ball but obviously you would draw one 6.75 inches out through the CG. On the max flip drilling instruction they would mostly MISS the nose, wouldn't they? Because they are putting the thumbhole about 6.75 inches out. Ironically the drill sheet examples show the smaller hook and smooth drilling layouts with the thumbhole in the actual nose location...

    • @stevefreshour
      @stevefreshour 11 днів тому +2

      @@Naregnemyes The nose isn't located at the CG marker. The nose is located on a line from the Pin through the CG. I am sure that is what he meant since we have talked about these cores extensively.

    @BowlingBuckosh @stevefreshour First, thank you both for all the extra time you spend sharing your wealth of knowledge with the bowling public on social media and podcasts like P vs R.
    It seems like the thumb hole really makes a massive difference when it comes to producing, for lack of a better term, more asymmetrical-like behaviour.
    Would it be possible for no thumb bowlers to drill this ball using PAL/Dual layouts and deeper holes (3"-3.5") and achieve similar results?

    • @BowlingBuckosh
      @BowlingBuckosh 10 днів тому +1

      to a degree, yes! the longer the pin to grip center (CoG) distance is, the more int diff. layouts with CoGs 5" or further from the pin will hit the nose.

    It blows my mind how a core that LOOKS so asymmetric is actually symmetric.

      @stevefreshour 10 днів тому

      @@KornHuskerJason Maybe, but symmetry isn't always about appearance. What looks asymmetric can still balance out perfectly with the right distribution of mass.

      A ball is labeled asym if the intermediate diff is .008 or higher.

      @BowlingBuckosh 10 днів тому

      @@KornHuskerJason not lyin'. if it was asym we would have to mark the PSA (MB) per USBC rules.

    Do you recommend short pin layout even though it's symmetrical? Mo always said stay away from short pin for symmetrical bowling balls. How would this ball on 4x55 control layout compare to short pin?

    • @BowlingBuckosh
      @BowlingBuckosh 10 днів тому +1

      Mo always said no PIN-DOWN symmetricals. He encouraged short pins, and in fact short-pin layouts have been on the sym drill sheet for years (layout D). we put them in the sym Throwbot videos as well. short pins have less flare but a shorter hook window. hope this helps.

  • @brianlevandowski3167

    What about pin the the plam aka Rico layout, on a asymmetrical or super symmetrical.

    • @BowlingBuckosh
      @BowlingBuckosh 11 днів тому +1

      'Rico' does not account for pin-PAP distance or VAL angle. It does not include a drilling angle, so it is not controlling any of the important variables. We recommend short-pin layouts over pin-down layouts on symmetrical balls. In the case of HIGH DIFF syms such as this one, there are some specific uses for pin-down syms, in which case we always recommend dual angles.

    • @brianlevandowski3167
      @brianlevandowski3167 11 днів тому

      @@BowlingBuckosh yea I actually mapped that a pin in palm is for me with the Rico layout. I tried it on super Asymmetricals but it's too much mid lane, I think I may try it on a mold low diff asymmetrical.

    • @BowlingBuckosh
      @BowlingBuckosh 11 днів тому +1

      @@brianlevandowski3167 just use standard pin-down dual angle layouts to control all the variables.

    You should take better cutaway shots for the website to show the core. I had NO idea the core looked anything like that from the image!! :)
    BTW, if i have a Max Bias B drilling as my go to piece now, would the Sure Shot or No Doubt be a good fit as a step down when the lane gets a little too dry for the MB?
    If so, would I stick with the B drilling as well?
    I'm also thrown off by the differences in the B drilling numbers, why is it almost the same as A with the 2 Super Syms but much different for an Asym like the MB?

    • @BowlingBuckosh
      @BowlingBuckosh 9 днів тому

      I think Snapshot makes sense as a down because it has a quicker hook window, similar to Max Bias, so the transition to Snapshot should be natural.
      Re: the difference in layouts, the Pin-PAP and the VAL are actually very close, just a slightly shorter/stronger VAL on the syms. The drilling angle (1st angle) is controlled on the Asyms because the PSA after drilling will follow the MB marker. On Syms, the CG is always pointing at the thumb, since the thumb area will be the PSA after drilling.

    How do the numbers change with a 2h no thumb layout ?

    • @BowlingBuckosh
      @BowlingBuckosh 10 днів тому +1

      similar trends but to a lesser degree. the longer the pin to grip center (CoG) distance is, the more int diff. layouts with CoGs 5" or further from the pin will hit the nose.

  • @jefferydaniels6717
    @jefferydaniels6717 11 днів тому +1

    Are you guaranteeing that the CG will fall the same ball to ball? What if I get a CG that is 1" from pin?

    • @BowlingBuckosh
      @BowlingBuckosh 10 днів тому

      for clarity, it is the line from the pin THROUGH the CG. the nose is not directly under the CG mark. The CG distance from the pin matters very little.
