  • Have you got a Versaflo TR-300 that beeps? This is a fast & cheap way to fix it! It takes about 1 hour to do what i show in this video.... once you've got the parts. I tried to put all the information you need at the start of the video.
    You could configure the setup however you want. The way i show is just the first way I thought of and I have changed all 3 of my faulty units like this and had no dramas!
    Note- I've only trialed one for about a month (29/7/2021)
    It can suck or blow with the flick of a switch... not that you would want it to suck... maybe like a self clean??lol
    It Last's about 2hours @ full throttle with 1x12v Milwaukee battery.
    I had 1 of the 3 masks from new late 2017 for a price of $2110.63AUD. The company I worked for at the time bought it. After 2 weeks of using it in pretty easy conditions (Tunnel construction) the Versaflo started beeping. We found if you clicked the battery in & out a few times it would work properly until you bumped it abruptly. The mask was put aside because it was too much of a hassle. I called the supplier, where it was bought from, a few months later and told them the problems. They told me if i sent it to get repaired it would probably cost $300-$400AUD to repair if it was my fault. I thought because it had been dropped a few times and was now scuffed it would cost this amount and was turned off the idea.
    It was forgotten about until the end of the job mid 2019. Which is when i brought it home.
    This is when i first pulled it apart carefully, blew out inside the unit, put back together and it worked again. (still had to click battery in & out.
    about 6 months later the battery charger stopped charging battery. This is when I called 3m directly. I told them my story and they said they would send a new battery & charger. It took over 6 months to get and they only sent a battery (which i was still grateful for). I didn't think they were going to send anything after a couple months so this is when i got the other 2 masks. Which both had the same problem. I got them cheap approx $300 each. All of the batteries stopped charging about a month. This is when i got them working with the 12v milwaukee battery. They lasted a lot longer but they started to beep even like this. I contacted 3m again at this time. I'm still waiting for their reply. I ordered every type of controller at this time. Ordering the good one last which came first! EUREKA!! Doesn't need hall effect wires...so far...

    Can’t thank you enough for this video! I just did this mod to my TR-300+ running off a 20v dewalt battery! FYI the ribbon going to the blower motor on mine was all little “wires” but I had to solder mine opposite of what you showed in the image. I lucked out cuz I burnt off a pair of the contacts on the ribbon after it wouldn’t come on. I decided to try the other 3 pairs and it came right on just like it’s supposed to 👌 my advice for first timers trying to solder, start with a low temp setting and slowly increase till it barely melts the solder lol

      Hewfffff!! 😅 glad it worked for you. You gotta make sure insulation is scratched off good but be delicate! Always blob up the solder before applying to disperse heat instantly to whatever you’re soldering

    I wonder if I could do something similar on my TR-600? The blower motor is integrated directly into a larger circuit board than what’s in the 300. No ribbon that plugs into a board but maybe there’s a way to solder into the circuit board and bypass the alarms and battery. It’s a shame I can’t get an ammonia filter for the 300 😑

    Hi Mate, how did you get it to run off the Milwaukee batteries? I am looking at doing that for now without the speed control mod. Do you just hook up the one lead from the neg and positive? I see there are 4 pins do they need to be connected as well? Thank you for your help

    • @Micington
      @Micington  3 місяці тому

      You need to open the unit up. Follow where the power pins wires go. Solder your own wires to these wires and get them out of the unit and seal the hole. 12v was easy to find. Milwaukee m12 batteries have 2 large places for pins to go and these are negative and positive (use multi meter to find). I think in one of my earlier blobs i got a funny intro and you can see me connecting it up but it depends on how you pull the wires out of the unit. I used multi meter a lot to probe where wires went but I can’t remember now. One thing I do know is the speed controller from eBay is much much better and I’ve never had any problems since. Other than wires breaking on rare occasions but very simple fix. Sorry I probably didn’t giv much help there 😂

      @@Micington thank you for getting back to me! did you just solder only two wires, one for neg and positive. I tried to solder the neg and positive wires of the m12 battery to the neg and positive pins of the unit. A bunch of smoke came out and it looks like the ribbon that goes from the battery gold pins to the main board burned up. Did you solder the m12 batteries directly to the board or the ribbon that connects to the board? Thank you for your help!

    This can be fixed far easier for 10 bucks. The problem is the one or both of the pogo pin battery connectors not making contact. The fix is buy an 0.085 nickel wrapped bass guitar string. Pull the two pogo pins out closest to the closing side of the battery. Cut pieces of string to fit in the new contact holes so they stand 4mm proud and level with the other two contacts. If the battery doesnt snap closed shorten them a little. If still beep fault then make them longer.

      Battery terminals were shit. Charger is shit. Expensive 💩!! batteries failed first. But motor controller in all 3 units I owned failed also. eBay motor controller is cheapest and easiest way out as far as I know. No beeps. No problems. Been years now. They will take an 18v or 12v battery with eBay motor controller.

    Thanks so much for this video - I'm adapting a versaflo for someone to use for medical reasons, to safely make a plane journey from a country in which it's hard to get high quality 12v batteries in a form the airline is likely to accept, but easier to get 14.4v and 18v, do you think the versaflo motor together with this controller, could tolerate either of the latter two, please? Thanks, Jonathan

    • @Micington
      @Micington  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Jonathan
      I’m glad it helped you. I’ve got it running on a 18v 5AH Dewalt battery as I write this message with it throttled down to comfortable breathing range with the controller. I even gave it a short burst at full pelt and it didn’t blow up (it was like a leaf blower!) I’ll leave it running overnight and let you know if it blows the motor up but I’m pretty sure it’ll be fine. I’ll send a link for a link Dewalt battery holder. I’m sure you can get a holder for any common battery tool brand from eBay.
      If it can run on an 18v battery I don’t see any problems at all with a 14.4v battery.
      If it lasts overnight with a 18v 5AH battery you could use a 18v 2ah battery with no troubles and it wouldn’t be as bulky

    • @Micington
      @Micington  2 роки тому +1

      The batteries the versaflo comes with are good quality from new normally. I can’t see any airline rejecting them??? Unless you have bad luck like me with my 3! That we’re playing up with same issue!
      Have you already got one that is playing up? (Beeping & turning off? Like my 3x)

      @@Micington Your replies and your trying your versaflo out with the 18v battery are a real kindness. Thank you.
      That's really encouraging about the 18v.
      I bet you're right that 3M originals would be OK on the plane. I’ll seek a letter from the airline either way. I’ve emailed 3M asking if the have a UN 38.3 certificate (lithium battery airworthiness). It'd add $1300 US to the cost to have 3 of the 3M 50wh originals shipped to her (no used spares available or freightable in her market sadly), with the ‘two spares only’ onboard limit (perhaps waivable with permission) cutting it fine for the 30hrs if she can’t recharge. Perhaps I am just cheaping out. I was hoping to save the $1300 to spend on treats for she and I when she arrives.
      The 18v/14.4v was partly because the only quality 12v in her market is approx 48wh only, which with two spares is cutting it fine for the 30hrs. I am concerned about reliability of a hacked system. But because I have two spare used blower motors I could convert them both for her in case one fails mid-flight. I’m trying to weigh the risk of 3x 3M originals not lasting the 30hrs, vs a hacked system (and perhaps its backup hacked system) failing mid-journey, and the risk that a hacked system’s looks could lead the pilot to not let her board even with a letter of permission + UN 38.3 certificate. Choices choices.

      @@atelier1975 i left it running overnight with 18v 5AH and its still going with heaps of power left in it. Running solid just over 12hrs!!! I left the stopwatch on. Let ya know when it goes flat. The cheap motor controller is bullet proof!
      The genuine 3M battery price are a complete joke and totally not worth it in my opinion. It infuriates me. I’ve had such a terrible experience trying to keep them running on the standard batteries. I called 3M and emailed! No help! I wouldn’t trust standard batteries with standard mask motor controller for that long! I can’t believe I’m the only one that experienced the same troubles……
      I do understand the hacked one looks a bit “how ya goin” haha but you could probably make it look neater then how i did it.
