Have to agree with you on personal protection. It's amazing how much overspray is still present even in a spray booth at a shop. Most home painter/hobbyist don't have the financial resources as the professionals. However, IMHO, the home painter/hobbyist has to be more creative in personal protection against autobody chemicals. Using a lower CFM and PSI spray gun can reduce the amount of overspray. I've watched several videos from Chris on Garage Noise that used affordable HVLP guns that reduced overspray significantly. Using a 5 or 6 stage turbine system is another way to reduce overspray. Jake Lesada has shown that lowering the PSI on a turbine system produces minimal overspray and gives professional results. There are other affordable positive air flow systems available to the home painter/hobbyist - turbines and systems that filter the air from your compressor from oil and water contaminants, utilizing activated charcoal filters that attached to your waist. Just remember - if you lose it - your never getting it back. Your health is priceless.

Aside from health the comfort of having your face unrestricted and a breeze inside the face is wonderful on hot days compared to a standard respirator.

Kandy Man. Very informative video. The PPE you wear in the booth to protect your health is very important. The 3M TR800 while very expensive a necessary tool in your arsenal. Stay safe and continue bring us great content. Enjoy your evening in sunny Florida dude.

So few people ever talk about this. Most use the bare minimum protection or nothing at all.

3m has a foam pre filter for it also. Stops some of the heavy overspray.

Wondered about that, glad they had the forethought to have a pre filter to keep the main organic filter clean.

So I was looking around being on a budget... I found that the TR600 can handle organic vapors if you use the right cartridge but the problem is that it is not explosion proof so if you are working with mists that could be ignited by your PaPr the tr600 does not mention that it is made for this but the TR800 info does.. there is another video about it here on youtube that specificly mentions the TR800's ability to be safely used in environments that have explosive type mists in the air and for mining... the tr6530n cartridge filter is the same cartidege for organic vapors that is used in both units... that filter runs at over $500 dollars... so TR600 smaller battery and not stated as being suited for working in environments where solvent mists can become ignited by the unit itself.... TR800 bigger battery and suitable for working in envromnet where the unit could ignite the solvent mists and vapors that are in the air... and the initial price difference is not that much.

Just got a tr 600 setup. I am just a hobbyist now but worked in a shop for 20 years. Cant wait to use it. Pricey but so worth it.

I like the Sata air star C half mask, simply because I hate the glare from the Vission full hood. Can’t stand the bulk of the 3M. However, I understand that eye protection is just important when spraying. That said, I choose Sata Vission.

I've been thinking about this since one of your last videos. I have a Hobbyair setup but the 3/4" hose sucks to drag around so i need to upgrade.

I have the sundstrom sr500 - I would not go back to a regular respirator. It also works with the arcone welding helmet which is a bonus.

I have 5 or 6 batteries at my work. Some are so old they don’t work but say fully charged. Mine got crazy amount of overspray on it doing the inside of boats so I painted my hood.. how long does your filter last? Mine last two days maybe.. 1 or 2 boats on I need a new filter.

Great video Kandy Man you can't be to carful with having good PPE, as you mentioned all the different materials we use can be very dangerous and the overspray that's in the air can be absorbed through the eyes so I always use a full facemask👌👍John UK

Watching recent vids, I wondered where the backpack was :)
I just purchased the full face mask like you showed, in fact used it yesterday for the first time, worked a treat and using the visor guard peel off.
Looked at Versaflo TR800, but if you can find one here in Oz, they are well over $2500 (AUD).
Found a cheaper battery powered air fed hood with organic vapour filters from my paint supplier last week, but has inbuilt battery that means it's offline when it needs charging.
Still, at AUD$350 it is probably something I'll get too, and use the regular one as a back up.

    Can’t stress a respirator enough!
Stupid me went for years trimming out parts and doing bodywork without anything !
    Lungs are screwed now!
Does this unit have tearoffs on the face or could i use denatured alcohol to clean overspray off?
Also has anyone used it for sanding filler and etc?
Had cataract surgery recently and want to keep out the dust from getting in my eyes.
