- Welcome, my name is Penelope, Pene for short. Please join me for a chat about my week, my family and my crafting. Pete's home from seven weeks in hospital. This week I have been caring for him and I have been busy making 5" QAYG squares.

Beautiful episode, beautiful crafting. I have missed some podcasts because my husband and I have been unwell the entire month of January. Terrible virus but not Covid or influenza. Saw the dr Thursday and finally got put on some meds. Felt better this morning and was so happy to see a video from you waiting for me. Loved your squares and was so touched you used a piece of your mom’s lace on the square. I did enjoy her segments and stories so much. She is missed. So happy Pete is doing better. Please take good care of yourself too. Remember, you can’t pour from an empty cup. See you soon.
Hi Belinda, So sorry you have both been poorly during January. It hasn't been a good month for illness. Glad you are finally feeling a bit better. Thanks for watching Chinwag. With Pete in hospital I did so miss Mum, she was a rock. So touched you miss her too.
My cup runneth over that Pete is home but I know what you mean, sit down and do some sewing. Fortunately Pete loves everything I do so never minds me having my sewing bits all around. See you soon xx

Ah thats ok Dawn, I watched you this morning with my early early cuppa! You had a sore throat coming, hopefully you are feeling well. It has been a tricky time. He started getting ill the last two weeks of November, sepsis brewing and then seven worrying weeks in hospital. He is slowly regaining his strength. I don't have to tell him to eat as you know he loves his food, but he has a few stones to put back on! Don't work too hard! xx

I just light up when I see that you have made a new video! You and Pete have been through the mill the last long while - and on top of losing your dear, lovely mom. I think you are amazing to get a video done with so little sleep and so many nurse duties. I do hope Pete gains his weight back - but with the doctor's guidance of course. The view out your window takes my attention and causes my mind to wander a bit. What a terrific view! Loved all you little 5" pieces - and I admit the one you said you made with your mother in mind brought a tear. She was so lovely and I am sure you are blessed with many happy memories. I want to do slow stitching and will do it soon - and you have encouraged me. I will watch this video again as it is now one of my favorites. And of course, Emily the support chicken must be a great comfort. I love the way you say she is just waiting to tell you a joke. Charming. Hi Kristin and thank you for those lovely thoughts. Pete is doing really well and I feel a lot more relaxed about things at the moment. The last few nights I have been able to get some proper sleep and he is able to walk around the house without me worrying! The view is indeed lovely and my mind does just that when I lay on the bed and just stare! There have been a few boats anchored up the last few nights and they are lit up. I am so enjoying doing my QAYGo pieces with Emily taking an interest too! xx

My husband’s doctor has told him that if he feels as though his blood pressure is dropping to get down onto the floor as soon as possible and stay down until it passes. Good luck trying to keep an eye on Pete 😊❤

Just come across your crafting world. All lovely. I follow Marion’s World and so many others. I coincidentally bought more daisy & Grace templates yesterday as she was on create & craft channel yesterday. With Pete’s permission you could have a cheap security. I have an Amazon blink one so when my blind husband is unwell and chooses sleep downstairs by the wood burner I can check on my phone to see if he’s ok. It has motion detection & ability to talk to him if needed, less stressful. Jen x

He's back in the kitchen already, scaring the life out of me with his big knives and wobbly legs! He's doing really well, his spirit is great. For me the crafting has helped so much, especially doing something that is new and manageable. So pleased to have you along. xx

Second, your weekly tags are such good therapy. They don't have to "be" anything but an expression of your feelings. I am so glad to see Emily is there with you, too, for emotional support. Helen is so thoughtful and kind.🤗
Thirdly, I really love those quilt as you go squares. (My favorite was the chicken fabric, so me). It is such a good idea to use what you have, and repurposing bits from old linens. It has given me a good idea for some old embroidered pieces I have.

I loved this podcast so much, Pene. ❤ I'm sooooo glad that Pete is home now and getting stronger. You take care of yourself too. I loved seeing some of your slow stitching and how you explained it. It was very peaceful and informative, because it's something I've never done. I did cross stitch for over 30 years. It was my first crafty love.

Hi Pene. I'm so glad Pete's back home with you now, even if he's not being a model patient. I loved your video on quilting as you go. I'm glad I decluttered my fabric before I watched this video as I would have hung onto every last scrap. I really like hand stitching. Sitting quietly, stitching is very peaceful and calming, just what you needed during these past difficult months. Thanks for all the wonderful inspiration. Xxx
Thanks Anita, I watched your video last night and thought, my what a job! My fabric is so different. I don't have yards of fabric so 30 years odd of fabric fits nicely into my three suitcases. I just get it out and rummage. It surprised me that I remember every bit of it, looking for this small bit and that small bit! I think when you make quilts the little bits of fabric become quite personal!! Something like that. You certainly have a great deal of sewing to accomplish to use the fabric you have. Well done for sorting and for gifting. I'm so happy my friend is using the bits and bobs I didn't want to hold on to. Small pieces I had saved but now don't want. Her quilts will be great.
I agree for me at the moment it's something I can pick up and put down without forgetting where I am!
Pete is doing great every day, a long way to go, but I feel we will get there. See you soon.
