Figs are low-maintenance and adaptable, thriving in various climates with minimal care. They rapidly mature to produce fruit, often yielding two harvests per year in optimal conditions. Obviously we love growing and sharing my our figs plants 🪴
Cutting off a piece, and putting it in soil; has a low success rate in cooler climate. I am lucky to get 10% from the cuttings I took back when the leaves fell off the tree.😢😢😢😢😢😢
You're probably right, but down here in south Florida, I wasted a lot of time and effort watching countless UA-cam videos, going through the 12 ballet movements with elaborate setups with poor results. Then, in a previous class, I heard Gary say just stick a cutting into the soil, so I tried it. 100% success. He should probably qualify this technique by specifying appropriate climates.
Very curious to know your thoughts on hugelkulture. I agree with you that imitating nature with the compost/duff layer on top of the soil, not mixed into it, but is there any value in hugelkulture practices? Many people seem to swear by it.
You videos are informative, but the paper you are writing on can not be seen in the video. You need to have the camera person zoom in, so people watching can see. Also when your talking about details on the plants, the camera person needs to zoom in.
Gary should have a propagation lecture. Cover all of the steps from time of year, selecting cuttings, care and nursing, root development, et cetera.
Nice! I have been waiting months just to hear Gary talk about figs again. Love his talks and love figs.

You need a heat mat and put it in a closed box with high humidity.

I am just amazed at his knowledge and presence. What a treasure.
Thanks! Please ask Gary to make a video about growing watermelons 🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉
Gary only makes videos of what he sells. Same way every video mentions Top Pot.

Thanks for the video. I'm curious, do you sell the strawberry verte fig?
I wish I knew this about tissue culture figs. I can confirm they take forever to fruit.
Growing pumpkin video would also be 👍

Laguna Hills Nursery is a good hour and a half from me. But I wA t to come out to buy a dwarf fig tree from them.
I don't think the plants fruit earlier from cuttings of cuttings because of genetics per se. I think it has to do with changes to the hormone system.
Don't tell the global warming people that the weather is getting cooler.
Climate and weather are not the same
You are truly amongst the dvmb*st people on the planet. And that's saying a lot, too.
