I cannot express how happy I am that I found this video, this channel and Gary. I am just learning about growing avocados on the Texas gulf coast. I understand much of the information is related to the west coast and some may not apply but there is still so much jam packed into this video that has helped me smooth out some of the holes in knowledge I have had. There is still a lot to learn obviously but I feel like I found a level 8 warp tunnel lol.
Hey Gary, question here, is the charcoal in your potting soil charged or is that not required? Ive read new char will take the Nitrogen out of the soil if used raw. Thanks
Last year was the first year I had two fruits on my avocado tree. I sprayed with maple syrup. The fruit was good size. Later someone stole those two fruits off the tree. I never was able to try it.
In Australia we have native stingless bees and they pollinate avocado much better than European bees, European bees are very rough and damage the flowers the stingless bees aren't, they are smaller than a house fly.
Rich Dad Poor Dad Rich Dad gets a Laguna Hills avocado from Brokaw, and grows it in Top Pot. Poor Dad throws a pit in the ground, and waits to see what will happen.
Ok I’m not crazy . I threw an avocado seed in the dirt next to my banana plants and in about a 1 1/2 yrs it’s over 8ft tall . I’ve never grown avocado so I was shocked it was so tall.
Gary says that growing avocado from seed is like having kids. You can get a jerk!😂😂😂😂😂😂
Best advice ever. If the plant has issues, just start over. Get a new one.
Right four years later and I’ve killed 13 avocado trees! Thank you Miracle Grow!!😩
This video helped me diagnos my tree's problem was the dirt. So I repotted it while watching the video today.
Thank you !! 🍺👍, love the cat hijacker
Cat so cute! star of the stream!
Thank you. Another great class!
Thank you Sir for your very generous and good planting lessons.❤

THIS IS GREAT AND VERY INFORMATIVE
THANK YOU!
It's up! Thanks Gary!

Any advice on dwarf avocado, Persea hybrid

Which Amdro ant bait is he referring to? Thanks🙏🙏🙏
excellent video. I'd like more explanation about why he doesn't recommend the "little cado" dwarf variety. It seems to be praised every where else

What a bummer, sorry to hear. Can I ask what month you sprayed MS and you applied it?

Do they look transparent? I used to have miniature translucent bees. Always wondered what they were.
You mean you actually have something that isn't venomous while everywhere else in the world it is?
@@GrowsTheCoastSD yes they do bite though but have no stinger
@@alirE2904 they are dark brown
Gary, would you please tell me how to get rid of the ants around my avocado trees.
Thank you.
Sprinkle some dry molasses. Ants hate molasses, and the worms love it.
@KalaEsso huh, well ants here set up shop in a bag of dried molasses till I put it in a ziplock
My tree stopped growing when I cut off the main stem at the top.
It will be okay. You didn't kill the tree. It will recover.
Mine hardly grew for 2 years and had a floppy main stem. When I cut the stem down to a couple feet it shot up with a new leader and go much bushier.
I thought my avocado tree would come back after huricane clean snapped it in half, but it didn't.
What about Wurtz?
Does the cold weather affect the avocado trees? I live in Louisiana
I’m in Lafayette where you in Louisiana?🙏
Rich Dad Poor Dad

Poor dad won't like the results when the avocados are inedible. They need to be grafted.
Throwing pits in the ground is how new cultivars are created.
I can't understand what kind of fungus he talks about in minute 16. Anyone who can tell me what kind of fungus he is talking about?
@geak1994 Mycorrhizal fungi is well known to form symbiotic relationship that greatly benefits plants.

GWEN is probably meant to be a disposable avocado tree with built-in obsolesence!
😂😂
